Álarr had done his best to find the remnants of the girls family and the few he'd managed to find, unfortunately, did not want anything to do with her. It had been a long and difficult journey. He felt for the girl and after the last rejection had decided, with her permission, to call this mission a failure. It also prompted him to do something he never thought he'd ever do… become a father. Sick of the rejection he'd finally offered to become her family and she'd accepted. Álarr felt totally out of his depth but in comparison to the 'family' he'd met along the way he felt that he wouldn't have to try hard to be a fair bit better than Star's other options.
After he arrived at the border he glanced back at Stjarna and offered her a soft smile before tipping back his head and calling for Corbie. It was time to make her membership in Avalon official.

I wish you could see me for something more than the things I'm confined and condemned to be
Yawning as she walked, Stjarna lagged behind Álarr. She was exhausted. The journey had been a taxing one both physically and mentally but she felt herself in a strange state of contentment. She could process the worst of her emotions later. For now it was a gorgeous winter day, the sun warm on her back and the frost glittering beneath her feet… and she was heading home. Home for good. After everything they'd been through she felt she could trust Álarr and unlike her former father she felt strongly that he wasn't going to abandon her. He'd walked for nearly a month and even after all the leads dried up he didn't abandon her then, instead offering her a permanent home. As he settled down to call Corbie, Stjarna sat next to him and leaned gently into his shoulder.

Corbie tilted her head, eyes bright with curiosity for a moment that blossomed into happiness as she suddenly recognized the call as Alarr. Her beta had been absent for a time, trying to help the young girl he had taken in find news of her lost family, so his call now could only mean that he had returned safely. Corbie was quick to answer his call, but slowed for a moment in confusion and concern at the sight of the girl next to him. Oh no - had they not been able to find her family after all? Poor darling. Orphaned and raised by another herself, she could feel only sympathy for the girl. "Alarr, it is good to see you again," she said, including both the beta and the girl in a quick smile, "both of you."

Álarr stayed steady but gave just slightly as Stjarna leaned into him to make her a bit more comfortable. It didn't take long for Corbie to answer and in truth there wasn't much that needed saying. It was evident they were unable to succeed in their mission, at least to a degree. He dipped his head to Corbie in greeting, a soft smile on his face. "It is good to see you as well. As you can see we were unsuccessful in finding worthy family to take Stjarna in." He glanced down at Star as he emphasized the word, before looking back to meet Corbie's gaze.
"I have decided to adopt Stjarna as my daughter and would like your permission to formally accept her into Avalon."

Stjarna resisted the urge to close her eyes for awhile and drift off. The journey had been tiring in more ways than one and now she just wished to rest her head in her new, and hopefully permanent, home. Star stirred as Corbie approached and offered the older woman a gentle smile and nod of greeting. Álarr spoke and she turned her head slightly into his shoulder. Her heart fluttered a bit as Álarr referred to her as his daughter.
She pulled back and with a deep breath she stood and looked to Corbie. "I've been practicing my hunting skills. I'd like to serve Avalon as a hunter if you'll have me." Star had no reason to think she'd be turned away now but still there was that little doubt eating at the back of her brain.

Corbie glanced sympathetically at Stjarna as Alarr did. It wasn't hard to read between the lines there - they'd perhaps found someone, but not a someone that would be true family to the young wolf. Alarr, it seemed, was more than willing to fill that need, and stated his intention to adopt the girl - something Tornach had never chosen to do, since Corbie had a mother who'd raised her, and he hadn't wanted to supplant that family when he'd taken her in after her mother's death. She'd always appreciated that about him, but if she hadn't remembered her mother so dearly, or if she had been a bad mother or abandoned her, she'd have liked to have been adopted by him, so she felt her heart swell with happiness for Stjarna that she'd found the family she truely deserved. "Of course you are welcome here," she told Stjarna gravely. "I'd be proud to have you as one of Avalon's hunters. I know you had been training hard with Alarr here before your journey."
