For the past month she'd felt like a shell of herself. It had taken so much effort to get back to her regular training regime, to feel like she could be a functioning member of the Armada again. She was making great strides but there was still a ways to go. She had to take breaks far more frequently and as such she was late in her arrival to the Hallows, but not terribly. It was something she could accept. She'd just joined the edge of the crowd when the fire was lit, the flames weaving into the sky.
Moments later a fight broke out. Typical, another pirate, raider, whatever, starting shit. She grinned as her father confronted the man. This would be a good fight and her kind of entertainment, though she did feel back for her sister Briar. The horned woman probably wanted a nice peaceful gathering and already there was a fight.

Rot Gut Whiskey's Gonna Ease My Mind
At first Tarnish wasn't going to go. Who gave a fuck about the Hallows and some stupid festival? But then there was the mention of fire and booze… ok that was the kind of festival he could get behind. Besides, it was time to start celebrating his recovery. Although he was still skinny and not back to where he'd been he was keen to start living life again. In truth his body was recovering faster than his mind. Anything he didn't want to deal with mentally he just stuffed away. There'd been some big kerfuffle after he'd gotten sick. His dad died, well sort of died… he was mostly dead. But then he got better. Something, something, meeting, something, something, polar bear, something something, meh. Tarnish didn't sweat the details.
He climbed down out of his tree house, front limbs quivering a bit at the sudden exertion before he hit the ground and started heading to the Hallows. Apparently the borders were open for at least two of the territories so he didn't bother announcing himself. Not that he necessarily would have either way. He arrived in time to the fire lit and the party really get started.
His father dove for the former Ethne alphess before two Hallows males got involved. Awesome, dinner and a show. He noticed the Hallows boy he'd fought with earlier and felt the heat of annoyance just seeing the others stupid face. "Hey, ugly! Get me a bottle of booze would ya?"

Before Haydee could even look up to meet his challenging gaze, there is a new contender pushing against his shoulder. The scent of Hallows washes over him and Gilgamesh lifts his head to turn and see a wolf he doesn't recognize. While the words that leave Mercury's mouth reach his ears, Gilgamesh attempts to ignore them. As he turns to try and put space between himself and Mercury, he is met with the force of Sirius, low voice speaking quietly in his ear.
A laugh barks out from Gilgamesh as his lips pull back into a rakish grin. "Gentleman, I was simply checking to see how our dear friend was faring after our last encounter," his voice is sickly sweet, goat-like eyes void of emotion as he takes a step backward, slipping out from between the two protectors. From the corner of his eye, he notices Haydee and company attempting to slink away. Tsk, how unfortunate it would be if he were able to escape these two numbskulls.

Nelu sighed as the familiar dark form of the pirate he'd mauled arrived at the bonfire, immediately shouting out to him for booze and implying he was ugly. Nelu stared blankly. What was the point of this? To bait him into a fight? Why approach and mock and threaten? If he wanted a fight why did he not simply initiate one? Was he trying to maintain some sort of appearance, perhaps? An attempt at playing it off as the victim or perhaps the bigger wolf if Nelu did not respond in the way he wanted?
Nelu's eyes lingered on the other boy's emaciated frame. Had he had the same illness? Ahhh perhaps this was why the pirate boy was calling him ugly. He must've been deflecting. Nelu smiled politely. "No uglier than you. As for the booze, if you looked you could see that I do not have any. Find some yourself."

Sota was slow to arrive, but he didn't think anyone would mind. No matter how tired he might be though he wouldn't miss the pack's annual bonfire for the world. It was a time of celebration, time to remember those lost as well as look forward to the future. Maybe in the past he would've done something to help prepare, but this year he hadn't really been feeling up for it. Looking at an old dried cluster of flowers at the entrance to his room, he hoped the lack of flowers at the bonfire wouldn't be missed. The starlit plains, at the height of Auster's summer, were full of flowers anyway. His lack of effort wouldn't be noticed. By the time he finally arrived, making the long journey down the castle stairway - and taking a moment of respite to appreciate the quiet of the castle, largely empty of everyone due to their attendance at the bonfire - the festival was fully underway. The fire had already been lit, and was reaching high toward the sky, illuminating the faces of so many wolves all around. Kaito scampered behind him, keeping his distance as he paused to assess what was going on here. It seemed a scuffle was ongoing, and he narrowed his eyes as he studied the scene from a distance. It had nothing to do with him, so he wouldn't interfere, knowing it wasn't his place. He was amazed at the variety of wolves here, from all walks of like.. there were families everywhere he looked, parents and their children and even yearlings wandering about, looking like they'd traveled here on their own. How nice. He breathed a content sigh as he settled down somewhere on his own to relax and watch the festivities. |
