Zeke Only-

Caves freaked out the young and jolly girl. Just the thought of something happening and the cave top collapsing on her is what drove her fear. She preferred to stay where she could see some of the sky. But she really had no choice; she needed to find a place to stand cover with the crazy amounts of snow. She held close to the rabbit that she had caught for herself as her supper with a lick of her lips. She started to devour the specimen while she kept watch for those who weren?t welcome near her when she was eating. The girl was protective of her food; especially in the winter.

Her varied color in her fur blended in nicely with her surroundings, her amber eyes piercing through the rocks and the darkness. It wasn?t too dark, there was some light coming through the entrance that she stayed near, but other than that she felt like there was a dark and looming shadow around her. A small frown appeared on the usually happy girls face. "Dumb snow, I hate caves." She pouted when she thought no one was around.

. FACTA NON VERBA .

Zeke grumbled to himself. The usually jovial, happy-go-lucky wolf found himself in a black humor. His impulses had gotten him into this, his damn impulses. Why on earth and in every realm of hell had he wandered away from his marvelous coastlines. Why?! Oh yes, the adventure of it all. The blasted, bloody adventure. Well at the moment he was just trying to get home. That was proving more difficult than he would have hoped, thanks to this damnable snow storm. Why the gods would ever inflict such a thing on their own realm was beyond him. Certainly they were cruel indeed. He was as much a wolf as the next; four legs, a tail, pointed ears, sharp teeth, but that did not mean he was impervious to the cold. He could not remember a time he had been more than a league away from the temperate ocean air. He had grown used to its smell, its moisture, its warmth. Ah the warmth.

As it stood, he was not so certain he would ever feel it again. The winds whipped around him, dug into his skin, bit at it. He was about to find a tangle of roots to curl up in when his hind leg slipped out from underneath him. He gasped and cursed, scrabbling at the ground, trying to heave himself back upwards. What the hell? he thought, pulling away. He turned around to find himself staring into the roof of a cave. He gasped once more, this time out of joy. A cave! he thought joyfully. Sounds like shelter to me! Zeke, vitality restored, pressed his nose into the wind, searching for the dank, moist smell that would lead him to an entrance. It was harder than he expected, but eventually he came upon it's gaping maw. Unfortunately, it did not smell as empty as he had hoped. "Hello?" he called out, taking a few steps inside to get out of the wind. His voice rang back at him, louder than he'd expected. He tensed, waiting for a response of any kind.

Malia heard voices, or a voice, and started to panic about her foul mood. I can't let no one see me in a bad mood, they might think I'm a sour pus and that is just a bad thing to be considered. Oh my dear lord what will happen to me if I am a sour apple? She stopped and took a deep breathe become responding with a shaky voice. She had finished her rabbit by the time she answered. "'Ello thar. I'm Malia, Malia Lagi." She said with her old and cheerful self-back in control. Now she would have to wait out all the snow in a cave with someone she didn?t know yet. That was actually the definition of a good time to her.

She gave a friendly smile to the man who had just entered the cave to take shelter from the wind. "Trying to get out of the wicked storm, ?eh? Storms and caves are a few of the things that can get me in a pretty bad mood. But hanging out with others just... picks me up again." She said with a smile as she waited for him to respond to anything and everything she had just said. She hoped that the man wasn't violent or nothin. But she figured, if he had said hello, he wasn't going to attack her. He probably would have attacked her and not said hello if he intended on hurtin her.

. FACTA NON VERBA .

The female seemed to emerge from the shadows, and caught Zeke by surprise. She was smaller than him and lean, and her voice sounded friendly besides. He felt no threat from her, and relaxed immediately, letting the slightly warmer air combat his chilled bones. Just being out of the howling winds was enough, even if there was a strange whistling sound echoing through the cave. He listened to her speak, then chuckled. "Hell yeah, I hate the snow. I'm more of a coastal guy, myself." He took a few more paces inside and laid down against a mound of stone, and began to lick the snow away from his paws. "It's nice to meet you, Malia," he said between licks. "My name is Zekiel Lostboy. I prefer Zeke though."

As he finished cleaning himself up, he caught the scent of meat in the air. His stomach growled, and he noticed tufts of hair skittering about the floor of the cave. He hadn't been able to catch much among the trees, a field mouse here, a squirrel there. Hardly more than a mouthful. No, Zeke was more attuned to fish, crabs, eels. He'd even eaten a gull once. The strong, red meats he had found in this part of the land turned his palette and his stomach, but at that moment he envied Malia. He turned to look into the darkness, wishing some poor creature would fall in as he nearly had. He turned back to Malia and asked, "So what are you doing in these parts?" By the sound of the wind they'd be spending a fair bit of time together, he might as well get to know her.

Malia giggled a little bit, as she did so often, in a flirtatious manner. The man hated snow, and he was a costal man. She herself was a bit unfamiliar with the term costal. She had never been to a costal, whatever it was. She went from forest to forest with the occasional cave. That was her life, her entire life. "What?s a costal? Anywho, Ima here just wandrin ?round. It?s what I do. Some call me a Nomad, others refer to me as one of dem crazy and weird folk. They think I?m too nice." She told him, sometimes, she was told that she was too eager to give her information away. Oh well, it was who she was.

"Nice to meet yer Zeke." She said happily before sitting down again, giving her paw a few licks, then a few licks to her chest. She was never that shy, she had no idea why. Perhaps it was that she had finally found a friend who was a rouge wolf like her. Maybe this wolf was one of them nomads like she was! She would let time decide, time alone. But after the storm passed, they would probably rarely ever see each other again. "I wander too much to be a pack wolf." She pointed out quickly before sitting in anticipation of his response.

. FACTA NON VERBA .

Zeke's jaw dropped, hunger forgotten. How could anyone not know the coast? How? It just didn't make any sense! Zeke knew not everyone was like him, not everyone had seawater in their veins, but certainly there had to be some knowledge born into a wolf to make them halfway decent. He couldn't imagine life without crashing waves, the smell of salt, that brisk ocean wind. He shook his head slowly, still marveling as the fae continued to speak. Ever the gentleman he listened patiently and waited for a break before he spoke. Slowly, carefully, he asked, "You truly don't know the coast?" He could not comprehend it. "The coast is everything," he insisted. "It's where the ocean meets the land. It's sand dunes and warmth and crashing waves and salt and everything that's good in the world!" He sighed and looked out the cave.

How had he managed to get so far from home? That he could not hear or smell the sea made him feel weaker, lesser. "The coast is very far from here," he said quietly. He collected himself with a deep breath and looked over the smaller female. If she had not seen the coast, what had she seen? It struck him that his fae might be his exact opposite, and full of good tales to tell. "It's nice to meet you as well," he said with a lazy smile. "I'm a wanderer too, except I usually don't wander too far from the ocean. It's what I know, I suppose." He shrugged and tried to imagine all that Malia had experience, and found himself coming up blank more often than not. The trees and rocks of the inland had never interested him, not even slightly. For her to have based her whole life around them, well, maybe he was missing something.
