She follows in Kaizen's larger paw steps into the protection of the grove. The sticky sweet smell of grapes overwhelm her senses and help evaporate the panic that had settled into her body. Adrenaline that now seeps away is soon replaced with exhaustion, evident in the way her steps slow and her head begins to hang low. Her eyes still trace along after Kaizen and around at the thick trees that are enveloped by grape vines. There was a certain kind of beauty here that she wanted to admire, but with the bristling, angry, snooty boy in front of her, she wasn't sure she could. Especially when he turns to her, a snarl on his lips asking what she was even doing here. The question forces emotions to well up in her as she stares back at him. Stopping in her tracks, keeping her head low and ears pinned back, she doesn't say anything for a moment. An internal war with her feelings wages on as she tries to find the words. For as much as she wants to burst out with everything, she knows that's not the right thing to do. "My mum and dad are dead. I hate my pack. I hate that stupid mountain. I'm just..," she turns her gaze away from him to stare hard at the nearest tree. Studying the grooves in the bark as she holds her breath for a moment, her teeth clenching tightly together. "I don't know where to go," Lumine's voice is quiet, hard pressed to not cry in front of the jerk who so clearly hates her. |

Lumine chooses to ignore his huff. The way he stands there so awkwardly staring at her as she is trying not to melt into a puddle of ridiculous emotion. There was more to the story, more to everything. But it wasn't... her place to say it. She didn't want to say it. Didn't even really want to be near him either. Just how he says my condolences sounds so fake. It infuriates her on the inside as she continues to look away, staring holes into the bark of a nearby tree. Contempt silence draws a pregnant pause before Lumine exhales loudly through her nostrils. Though she wants to storm off and be petty, it's not who she is. "Thank you," she says begrudgingly, even a bit quietly so that perhaps he doesn't hear her. She tries to cheer up, but it's hard when you don't even feel like you have a home anymore. One brother was off being a heathen, her three other siblings were around, but not really around? They had their issues and honestly, she was too busy trying to run away to notice much. Something about Delphi always being kind to her drew her back though... Ugh. "So do you often come out this far from your bamboo?" Lumine asks after another awkward pause, her weight shifting a bit. Was she supposed to just leave now that they were away from the danger? Or did he like... want to try and be friends? Or... what if he wanted to be her enemy? |
