The divine creature would drift along the rocky expanse of the cove, the moonlight weaving a silvery tapestry across tide pools and coral juts. His mauve coat, kissed by shadows, shimmered like a living flame against the nighttime landscape. The beach, alive with the soft murmurs of the sea and and gentle clatter of crabs, whispered secrets in the night.

With a lyrical hum, Oath dipped his dainty paws into a crystalline tide pool, eyes alight with curiosity. He watched the water with an artist's eye, finding beauty in every tiny movement. There, a crab, its shell adorned with nature's artistry, moved with cautious grace. Swift as a whispered breeze, Oath captured it, feeling the delicate struggle of life within the grasp of his gold-tipped teeth.

"A feast beneath the stars," he murmured, his voice a melody in the night's symphony. As he continued his search, the beach's tranquil cadence would serenade his alert ears.

Az moved like a ghost on the land, eerily silent yet strikingly haunting all the same. His head was low, body toned and primed. He was a harbinger of death in the silhouette of him.

Mismatched gaze was set forward, a glance given to the man who lead them. The red pelt a common familiarity to him but the land around them new, strange and nothing like home. His quills, normally smoothed into his fur and relaxed, stood upright and his ears pressed forward. Caution played in his face and movements. Both men had seen and been through a lot.

He couldn't afford to get complacent now.

Soft jingles were heard as he gave a shake of his pelt to try to relieve his own tension from his body. "Sure, if by feast you mean scraps of tiny shit tasting crustaceans." his voice deep and growling, yet he did not growl, dripped with sarcasm. Be did not see a feast, he saw tiny morsels that didn't befit a half god. He could of easily taken down a deer or gotten them a few fish, but Oath seemed to see something in these small crabs. He lifted a paw and used a toe to flick away a particularly tiny specimen of crab, its shell a swirled conch but less than the size of his toe. This was scraps. They should be living like the demigods they were, instead they were scraping up a meager living.

Oath’s melodious laugh echoed softly through the night, a stark contrast to Azriel’s grumbling. “Oh, Azzy,” he purred, his voice young, sweet and teasing, “you’ve always had a flair for the dramatic.” His eyes sparkled with amusement as he watched his companion disdainfully flick away a tiny crab.

“These little morsels are treasures in disguise,” Oath continued, his tone light and affectionate. “You just need to appreciate the little things in life.” He gracefully plucked a particularly plump crab from the tide pool, its shell gleaming in the moonlight. With a delicate motion, he cracked it open and savored the tender meat within, humming contentedly.

“We may be demigods,” Oath mused, “but even gods can enjoy the humble offerings of the sea.” He turned his head toward Azriel, his expression softening as his golden earrings gave gentle clinks. “Besides, it’s not just about the food. It’s about the company.” He nudged Azriel playfully. “It is our first time setting foot on his new continent! I'm hungry after a swim like that! Let’s make the most of this night, even if it’s just with these ‘tiny shit tasting crustaceans’.”

Oath’s laughter filled the air once more, a comforting sound that blended with the whispers of the beach, as he continued his hunt, enjoying the simple pleasures that Hermit’s Cove had to offer. He continued his hunt, enjoying the simple pleasures that Hermit’s Cove had to offer. “Don’t worry, Az,” he added with a reassuring smile, “we’ll find better food as we explore and look for our family. This is just the beginning.”

Auds gave a flick at the jingling laugh of his companion. He didn't find it funny but he wouldn't spoil Oath's fun or anything. He was the grouch, and he knew it. The clinking of jewelry had his own jewelry clinking and his head turning to face his companion. He had no compassion nor emotion written on his face as he listened to his companion's voice. He was aware of their purpose and the fact that they were technically fleeing refugees, but he wasn't bothered. Did Oath really think that his family had survived? Az wasn't sure. Oath had come back, though the state Oath had found Az in was less than optimal.

He'd been there though, the death and destruction had been monumental. He gave a snort. "If any of them survived that is Oath..... Not to burst your bubble but the world ain't exactly Judila, ya know?" Realistic. They needed to be realistic. None of Judila's royalty had been really taught to fight, they were a peaceful pack after all. It had been a shock to see Oath try to fight that day. Though the mention of food had his own stomach grumbling. He would ignore it... for now.

A sudden sound had him snapping his head from Oath. The conversation would have to wait. The grunt had his quills and ruff standing on end. He peeled his lips and gave a warning growl. Whatever the fuck it was he would kill he knew. It took only moments before a splash was heard and then a large black form with curved horns came charging at them, angry for the wolves being in its prescience. "Watch out!" It wasn't loud but hopefully enough for the man beside him to know to keep on guard and move as the buffalo barreled towards them.

A shift of his paws had him dodging to the right of the buffalo. Jaws aiming to clamp on the buffalo's shoulder. Though its hide was tough so he could guess this fight wouldn't be easy.

Oath's mind flickered with fragmented memories of his family as Azriel spoke, each one like a fleeting shadow in the night. He often wondered if the faces he recalled were real or mere figments of his imagination. The warmth of his mother's presence, the laughter of his siblings - these recollections seemed distant, almost dreamlike. Did they survive the chaos? The uncertainty gnawed at him with Azriel's words, but he was stubborn.. as was his hope.

His lighthearted demeanor shifted instantly as Azriel let out a warning growl. Oath's eyes, once filled with mischief, now burned with intensity as he faced the charging buffalo. The beast's dark form was a stark silhouette against the moonlit shore, its curved horns promising danger.

Oath moved with practiced grace, sidestepping the buffalo's initial charge. His mind raced, calculating the best approach for bringing the beast down. With a swift leap, Oath aimed for the buffalo's flank as it passed him. His jaws clamped down hard on its hide, feeling the resistance of the thick fur and muscle. The taste of salt and earth filled his mouth, a reminder of the raw power they were up against.

"Az, flank it!" he barked, his voice a mix of urgency and command. They needed to work together, their combined strength the key to overcoming such a large foe and just the two of them.

It's not sin

His words were headed as the beast charged them. He went one way to dodge, and oath the other. The command that was hollered out though was unnecessary. They were going to flank it just by dodging it. Hefelt his teeth bury into its shoulder, though with its toughened hide he could tell that he wouldn't break flesh with anything but his sabers.

They would need a better plan to take this beast down. The beast twisted and did its best to try to gore anything it could reach, its hooves slamming down and body bucking. If he didn't take its sole attention it would get ahold of Oath, who was smaller and less likely to survive getting the beast's ire. He let his hold on the shoulder go and moved for a better shot. Jis teeth gripping the side of its neck now and a snarl ripping from his deep chest. He would do his best to make the creature focus on him.

Oath saw Azriel’s shift to draw attention to himself and knew he had to act quickly. As Azriel distracted the buffalo, Oath seized the opportunity and darted around its flank, his movements quick as to not waste any time.

He lunged low, aiming for the creature’s unprotected underbelly, where the hide was softer. His teeth sank in at the tender part just above the beast's flank, tearing at the flesh with intentions to cause significant bleeding. The taste of blood spurred him on, a sign that they were making progress and his attack was successful. He let go as the buffalo bucked and attempted to kick at him, but the damage was done.

He steadied himself and prepared for another attack, or to evade if the beast turned and decided to focus now on him after making an attack like that. He spat a bit of blood on the ground and waited to see what it would do.

It's not sin

His eyes dilated as pain ripped through his shoulder, blood coloring the air. His snarls becoming more violent. Change in his mental state evident in just those deep growls. They shook air around him, colors in his mind changing, a dark night becoming smoky and red. His body language shifted, every hair standing on end. Pain becoming a gateway.

His blood painted the buffalo's horn in its attempt to gore and beat, it had landed a lucky hit, one that set off a chain of reactions tonight. Az released the buffalo jumping back, right foreleg held slightly aloft. Quills had been left behind in the beast's face, uncomfortable and could lead to infection should they not receive proper medicines. Lips peels and shoulders pushed forward. His eyes darker than normal as things warped reality. He darted forward once more, aimed for the lowered head of the beast, jaws closing on its face, elongated canines piercing the beast's eye, paws on its neck and bridge of its snout. He aimed to rip it to the ground with sheer strength and brute force. Its bellows had no effect on him, he cared not for it's life now. Cudros would have him, and if Kiska willed it life then so be it.

Oath's heart skipped a beat as he saw the buffalo's horn tear into Azriel's shoulder, the sight of blood painting the night with an ominous hue. His usual lighthearted demeanor vanished, replaced by a ferocity built from a need to protect. He watched as Azriel's fury intensified, his companion moving with a terrifying power that Oath had never seen before. Azriel sure was.. different.

Without a word, Oath moved in tandem with Azriel's assault, his own instincts taking over. He didn't need to command or direct; they were in sync, a practiced dance of survival. As Azriel attacked the buffalo's face, Oath darted low, aiming for the beast's hind leg. His teeth found purchase in the tender flesh, tearing at it with all the force he could muster.

He could feel the buffalo's strength waning as it bled out, but he kept his focus sharp, knowing they had to finish this quickly. The beast's bellows echoed around them, but Oath paid it no mind, fully attuned to the pulse of the battle and to Azriel, who fought like a force of nature beside him.
