Oath Morningstar moved cautiously through the Kamui Delta, his cyan eyes scanning the maze of tiny islands and murky streams. The brackish scent of the water hung in the air, heavy with the earthy aroma of wet soil. His crimson coat, almost magenta in the pale light, gleamed faintly as he navigated through patches of slick mud and shallow pools, careful not to sink into the mire.

The Delta was a strange place, teeming with life if one had the nerve to explore it. Prey was abundant, but so were predators, hidden beneath the muck or lurking in the dense foliage of the nearby islands. Oath wasn’t here for prey, though. His brother had been taken, and rumors pointed to the Kamui Delta as a place where outsiders were often held.

He paused at the edge of a stream, watching the water ripple with unseen movement beneath the surface. A flash of white caught his eye in the distance, but it was gone as quickly as it appeared. Could it be a sign, or just another trick of the light in this strange, forsaken place? Oath pressed forward, his instincts urging him to stay alert for any clues of his brother’s captors.

Everything was all new. The sand beneath her paws sent confusion wrapping around her mind. The land before her appeared that of a blur, pink eyes squinting almost closed. However everything always seemed like that with her especially with her vision. Her coat was all matted against her, soaked to the bone while Fairytale took in the scent of the water which seemed to be off slightly. Definitly not save for drinking and the thirst that dried her throat was unbearable.

Small light paws dug into the sand, dragging herself out of the water. Inhaling some due to a wave that washed up against her, threating to wash her back out. Her paws giving way out from under her smaller mass. Silvery white fur appearing grey and the sun was way too hot for her liking.

The young girl coughed and gagged as she inhaled more water, trying to rid her mouth of the taste. Fairytale didn't know what was lurking just ahead of her.

A large thirty foot anaconda was sizing up the young woman, hungry, watching and waiting patiently. Ears swivel trying to make any sense of the cause of birds falling silent all around her. Curious as too why she was almost swept into the ocean, causing her to jump up scared slightly with a surprised yip pushing out quickly.

Oath’s ears flicked at the sudden yip, sharp and fragile, cutting through the stillness of the Delta. His body tensed, the urgency in the sound sending his gaze snapping toward the source. Through the swampy haze, his sharp cyan eyes caught sight of something small and pale, struggling against the pull of the water. His heart quickened, he wasn’t alone here.

It only took a moment for Oath to notice the danger. The enormous shape of an anaconda slithered silently, its gaze locked on the vulnerable figure of the drenched wolf. Oath’s muscles coiled in instinct, the predator within him rising to the surface. Without thinking, he bolted forward, his paws churning up mud and water as he surged across the uneven terrain.

In a flash, he was there. With a snarl, Oath leapt at the serpent, aiming a powerful blow at its coiled body. His teeth sank into its thick, scaled flesh, yanking the snake’s attention away from the small wolf. The creature hissed, its massive form shifting in reaction to Oath’s strike, but it wasn’t finished yet.

Oath stood between the serpent and the girl, his lips curled back in a warning growl.

She didn't hear the other except seeing blurs of movements. Her eyes still squinted trying to place were the other sounds were coming from. Ears swivel upon her cranium as she listened to sand and dirt crashing back into place from being kicked up from another. A burgundy like blur moved swiftly before her, as the stranger moved closer she could make out but not completely his own coloring.

His scent is what got her. "No, no..." her voice tender and sore from the water. "you... you aren't real." she gulped and sneezed for a moment. Still not aware of the danger or why this male was growling but what at? "please don't hurt me.. I don't think I was trespassing. Please forgive me."

She asked her voice shaky as a tilt of her head was offered. Still not realizing the danger that lurked a few feet in front of her. Fairytale shook, trying to rid her body of the stink of the water. It wasn't too harsh against her senses but it still did stink even in the slightest.

Oath didn't take his eyes off the anaconda as the small wolf's voice wavered behind him. Her confusion pierced him, but he had no time to reassure her properly. The snake, though wounded, still loomed large and dangerous, its body coiled and ready to strike.

"You're not trespassing," Oath growled, his voice low but strained, his focus split between the serpent and the trembling fae behind him. "But you need to move- now!"

The snake lashed out again, its massive body shifting with terrifying speed. Oath lunged forward, using his weight to slam into its side, preventing it from closing in on her. His teeth sank into the snake's thick skin, feeling the creature tense beneath him, but it was too strong to subdue easily.

"Get to higher ground!" he barked, his voice sharper this time as he wrestled the serpent. "You're in danger!"

Oath couldn't let her stay near, not while this threat still lingered. He was fighting to keep it at bay, but his real concern was the girl who still seemed unaware of just how close she was to being its next meal. The urgency in his voice carried a weight that he hoped would push her to act before it was too late.

Her small body trembled and shook slowly calming down as his melodic voice drew her attention allowing her a little begin of relaxation. Fairytale then noticed that of the large head that came closer failing with it's attempted strike. The little girl listened to the brute, as she pounced out of the way, even though she wasn't on higher ground because there wasn't any higher ground here to get too. It was all one level in a so to say kind of sense. The snakes tail was over closer to her.

Her pink pools watching even though everything seemed to be a blur. Here she was, taking her chances while the snakes attention was on the male. She needed to some how help.

Throwing herself towards the snakes body, tiny peircing teeth digging into the flesh. The taste was foul and made growl come from her throat, ears laced against her skull. She was not about to let him have all the action. Maybe she could make a fire and have the snake for a meal? A thought pressed into her mind.

"Can we kill it or should we just allow it to leave?" Asking between bites, for her smaller size she was a bit quicker and agile with her movements. The snakes tail tried to wrap her up as she slipped from its grasp quick enough.

Oath’s lips curled in a brief, approving smirk as the small she-wolf sprang into action. Despite her size and obvious disorientation, she had spirit, something Oath respected. Her tiny teeth sank into the snake’s body, and though the serpent thrashed in anger, she was too quick for it to get a solid hold on her.

He shifted his weight, driving his paws deeper into the mud to keep his balance as the anaconda twisted violently beneath them both. Oath could taste the sour tang of its blood on his tongue, his powerful jaws clamped around the serpent's thick neck. His gaze flicked toward the small wolf as she asked her question between bites.

“Depends if you’re hungry enough,” Oath grunted through a grin, the effort of holding the snake still causing his muscles to strain. "But we’ve got to make sure it doesn’t try again."

The snake hissed, furious now, and Oath tightened his grip, his crimson body flexing with raw strength as he fought to subdue it. It wasn't easy, but with their combined efforts, the massive serpent was weakening.

“We’ll drive it off,” Oath decided, his voice edged with tension but steady. “Let it know it’s not welcome here, but keep it alive. It’ll remember us.”

He released his grip slightly, prepared to let the snake escape if it chose to retreat. He glanced at the small wolf, admiration flickering in his cyan eyes despite the situation. The snake fled immediately. "You fight well for someone so small."

Fairytale didn't want this man to face the monstrous snake alone. Although she trembled with fear, she refused to show any sign of weakness. Despite her small stature, tiny in comparison to the larger beast, a soft whimper escaped her pink lips as her ears twitched nervously atop her head. She was terrified of snakes and anything else that slithered without legs, even spiders gave her haunting nightmares she dared not mention. Shivering against her own instincts, she propelled herself back into the battle. Perhaps he wouldn’t judge her for her fears, since he was unaware of them. Her eyes remained fixed on the chaos unfolding before her, despite not being able to fully grasp the details unless she was right up close.

As she rallied herself for the battle once more, she bit down fiercely, tearing the scales away from the flesh they concealed. After several unsuccessful attempts, she finally managed to secure a firm grip. Aware of the snake trying to coil around her again, Fairytale narrowly dodged the strike, acutely aware of the tightening muscles around her. In the midst of the chaos, she heard the stranger demand that the creature be spared. She sidestepped, smug in the knowledge that she had inflicted some minor scars on the snake—marks that it would carry with it every day. A sly grin flashed across her face, revealing her sharp, ivory canines.

"We can only hope it doesn't come back to launch another sneaky attack." A smile crept across her soft, rosy lips. "I enjoy hunting, so maybe that helps?" Accepting the masculine compliment as her tail swayed playfully behind her, she stepped closer to him, while the snake had already slithered away in search of its next meal. "But I wasn't the only one who fought," she said. "You were brave! Especially for coming to save little me!" Another smile broke across her face as her tail danced excitedly.

Oath watched as the serpent finally slithered away, its bruised body disappearing into the murky depths of the Delta. He let out a slow breath, his muscles still tense from the fight, though a sense of relief washed over him now that the immediate danger had passed. His gaze shifted back to the small wolf beside him, a sly grin on her face despite her trembling form.

Her bravery hadn’t gone unnoticed, and the way she bit down into the serpent’s scales, despite her obvious fear, stirred something in him. Oath’s cyan eyes softened as she spoke, her voice still a bit shaky, but there was a playful edge in her tone. She was tiny, yes, but clearly much more than she appeared.

"You handled yourself well," Oath said with a nod, his voice warm yet steady. "Most would have run at the sight of something like that, but you didn’t hesitate."

He stepped closer, his large frame towering over her, though he moved with a gentleness that matched the playful swish of her tail. A faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips, the compliment she offered catching him off guard. “Saving you wasn’t exactly on the agenda, but I couldn’t just let you get wrapped up in all that.”

His gaze flickered over her matted coat, now stained with mud and water, and there was a protective gleam in his eyes. “You’re brave too, you know," he added softly. "But next time, maybe we avoid the giant snakes- not run towards them?” His smirk widened slightly, a playful edge to his words.

Fairytale was completely up against him, her frame lowering onto her hind quarters. Tail lashing around behind her. Somethings were blurred around him, but seeing that of those sparkling eyes of the brute. She seen him before, but were? Fairytale was different and she known she was, as he spoke a small tilt of her skull was given allowing her ears to stay erect. A smile crawling once again across her lips. He was different especially with the coloring of his coat.

"Thank you," She shouldn't allow herself to nuzzle against his chest and chin but did so, slowly pulling herself away. "Well you... you came to save me like those knights I read about in the books I love." A smile tugging at her lips, as she turned away and began to blush. Although you couldn't see the pink hinting on her cheeks. "I think I've seen you before. It's weird." Fairytale stated out quickly. It was true.

"What's the fun in running away though?" A simple question, maybe too forward and honest however. "But were do I know you from.." Breathing in his scent, and storing it for later use. She needed to reward her savior, her knight some how. So placing her paws up on his shoulder, she gave him a gentle kiss. Her lips press against his for a moment longer before breaking apart. "I..." she fell silent, blushing.

Oath froze for a moment, the warmth of her small frame pressing against his chest catching him off guard. His cyan eyes flickered with surprise as Fairytale nuzzled into him, her soft, matted fur brushing against his chin. The tenderness of her gesture stirred something unfamiliar inside him, a feeling he wasn’t used to. He held still, unsure whether to respond or step back, but the gentle touch of her affection settled him into the moment.

Her words brought a quiet smile to his face. Knights from books? He’d never considered himself anything like that, but there was a charm in the way she viewed him, like he was something more than just a wolf who had happened to intervene.

"Knights, huh?" he murmured, his voice soft, but there was a playful glint in his eyes. "I think that might be the first time someone’s called me that."

The idea that she thought she’d seen him before tugged at the back of his mind, but he couldn't place it. Oath was used to wandering through territories, meeting strangers and parting ways, but something about her, with her soft, rosy smile, made him wonder if fate had pulled their paths together more than once.

And then, without warning, she pressed her lips to his.

The kiss was gentle, brief, but enough to leave him momentarily speechless. Oath blinked, the weight of the moment sinking in as she pulled back, her own shyness clear in the way she fell silent, blushing under her pale fur. His heart raced, and for a second, words escaped him.

"Miss…" he began, his voice low, still processing what had just happened. His mind reeled, but all he could do was let out a soft laugh, his eyes warm as they locked onto hers. "You really don’t like running away, do you?" His tone was teasing, though there was an undeniable warmth behind it. "But I won’t complain, it's refreshing to be around someone so bold."

He bent his head slightly, letting the moment hang between them, feeling the strange but undeniable connection building.

She had become shy, scared to admit it. What had she just done? Confused at the same time, the air around them growing still and almost silent until it was broken before he had spoke out. Hearing the gentle hum of soft laughter that slipped out from him, it made her heart stutter. Gave little fluttering feeling within her stomach - something she's never dealth with before. Almost like a electrical jolt. "Running away isn't something that I like," beaming another smile. "but eww snakes. They can run... or slither away." Laughter erupted from the fae as she sat there, feeling his head lower towards her, she felt relaxed and calm.

Closing her eyes and soaking in the moment for a little while. Her tail curling around her hind quarters as silence once more wrapped around the strange duo, but a connection was there, and only began to build. But there was that pull, something she's never witnessed before and it did freak her out a little bit. Fairy known she was much smaller than him and hell, didn't even know his name but what ever it was, it felt right. Like she was doing something right with her life. That was when her stomach gurgled, alerting of her hunger. Having spent the energy she had.

"Are you hungry sir?" her words soft and warm as well as straight to the point.

Oath watched as her smile returned, her laughter light and full of life. The way she spoke about the snake, so carefree despite everything, brought another small chuckle from him. There was something about her, something in her innocence and honesty, that felt refreshing to him. He couldn't explain it, but in her presence, the world felt less heavy.

As her eyes closed and she leaned into the calm, Oath allowed himself to relax for the first time in a while. The air between them had changed, softening, as if the chaos of the Delta had faded into the background. For a moment, he simply stood there, feeling the pull of this strange connection, unsure of where it might lead but unwilling to step away.

Then, her stomach growled, breaking the silence, and Oath’s smirk widened.

“Are you hungry, miss?” he echoed with a playful glint in his eyes. “I suppose fighting off a giant snake does build up an appetite.” His tone was teasing, but warm, and he let out a soft hum as he glanced around. The Delta was full of prey, but they’d need to be careful where they hunted.

“I’m always up for a meal,” Oath replied, his cyan gaze flicking back to her. “But first,” He lowered his head slightly, his voice gentle as he continued, “I don’t even know your name, and you’ve already stolen a kiss.” His smirk softened into a smile. “I’m Oath Morningstar. What should I call my brave little damsel?”

Fairytale was shy now, blushing away due to her stomach growling, turning in a sense. That's when he spoke, hoping that he didn't hear the rumbling of her stomach. Oh, how embarressing! But he spoke softly, teasing but warm also. Which had helped the young woman to relax more, knowing now that the masculine before her was not about to eat her, as if she were a meer snack. Especially how small she was compared to his monsterous size.

"I am ... I am sorry that my stomach and I have such a high metablism, and it's hard for me to keep weight on no matter how much I eat."She blushed. Oath Morningstar, his name wrapped around her mind like a warm weighted blanket. Shit! She didn't give him her own name. A giggle. "They call me Fairytale, Fairy is easier though. And well my size makes sense to have a name Fairytale." She seen his smile then. His brave little damsel? Is that what he thought of her now? Those little flutters began once more.

Oath’s smile deepened at her shy response, the soft blush on her face and the way her words stumbled out only making her more endearing. Fairytale, he thought, the name fitting her almost too perfectly. Small, delicate, and somehow both timid and bold at the same time. It was as if she’d stepped right out of one of those stories she seemed to love so much.

“Fairytale,” he repeated, letting the name roll off his tongue as if testing how it felt. “Fairy it is, then.” He chuckled softly, eyes still warm as they held her gaze. “I suppose it does fit! Small... but full of surprises. One might even say.. magical.”

He took a step closer, his larger frame towering over her as he gently nudged her with his shoulder, the motion lighthearted and almost playful. “And no need to apologize. We’ll find something to eat. I don’t mind sharing.” His cyan eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief as he added, “Though, I didn’t expect to save a damsel who’s always hungry.”

His teasing tone was soft, but there was no judgment behind it, just a genuine warmth that seemed to grow with every moment spent near her. He glanced around, scanning the surroundings. The Delta was teeming with life, and finding a meal wouldn’t be hard.

“I think I saw some tracks not far from here,” he said, flicking his tail toward the thicker brush. “Let’s see if we can’t find something to quiet that stomach of yours.” His voice dropped, playful again.

Oath moved ahead, his large paws pressing into the soft, muddy ground as he scanned the area. The brackish scent of the Delta filled his nose as he crouched low, eyes narrowing as he picked out a set of tracks partially obscured by the muck. His instincts flared: prey was close. The imprints were shallow, but distinct, and Oath could tell from their shape that they belonged to a small group of deer that frequented the marshy areas near the water. He ran his nose along the edge of the tracks, confirming the scent. Fresh.

“Looks like we’re in luck,” he murmured, his voice low but full of purpose. “There’s a herd nearby, and they’re not far.” He glanced back at Fairytale, the teasing smile still playing at his lips. “I’ll take the lead, but you seem pretty quick. You might beat me to first strike.”

With a flick of his tail, he motioned her to follow, his body moving fluidly through the wetland as they began their silent hunt.

She wondered what else her family would have called her, due to her being a little tale. A story that is continued to be told, however not back home but here in Boreas. It was her home now, her new home. One that she needed to learn and enjoy. Hearing her name roll off of his tongue made her heart once more stutter. What was this that she was feeling already to a brute she had no information about? What was it? What did it mean? Fairy known if she continued to wonder and ponder on this, it wouldn't end. She nipped playfully at his jaw, a gentle and tender nip to his teasing tones. A sparkle of wonder dancing within her blush pigmented pools.

What was the attraction she was feeling towards the fellow? She didn't know but surely she was excited about her new life and what new chapters that would unfold within this new land for little Fairy. Another giggle. "I doubt that I could beat you with hunting though." She stated playfully to him, dainty paws setting into motion, following closely behind his own mass. Everything was a blur that was too far away, her body shivered with excitement. As a nod was given, allowing him to know she was ready, crouching down close to the ground. Even though she hated the sand and dirt that claimed home within her fur. Hunkering down close, picking the deer scent up on the air.

Fairytale had known she'd be able to show her skills of being a huntress, but known the dangers that would come with a deer, so she'd have to be slightly careful not to fall or trip over anything and not let him take notice to her vision problems she faced each and every day. Would he turn away or continue to stay with her and build what ever was building between the duo.

Oath felt the playful nip at his jaw and couldn’t help but grin. Despite her smaller size and her clear nervousness, there was a boldness in Fairytale that intrigued him. It was subtle, like a flicker of light in the dark, but it was there. She had spirit, and something about her energy made him want to know more, even if he couldn’t yet explain why.

As they moved forward, he could sense her excitement. It mirrored his own, though he kept his focus sharp on the hunt. The scent of deer lingered in the air, growing stronger as they closed in. He noticed the way she crouched down, ready and eager, but something about her movements seemed... hesitant, almost as if she were carefully navigating the ground.

He didn’t comment on it, though. Not yet.

“You never know,” he whispered with a smirk, his voice barely above the sound of the breeze. “I’ve seen the smallest wolves take down the biggest prey. It’s all in the timing.”

They were close now. Oath could see the herd just ahead, grazing on the edges of the marsh, oblivious to their presence. His body lowered instinctively, muscles tensed, eyes locked on the nearest doe. He could feel Fairytale beside him, her presence strangely comforting despite the tense atmosphere.

“Stay low,” he murmured, “and when I give the signal, we strike.”

As he waited for the perfect moment, his mind drifted back to her. There was something unique about her, something that stirred a protectiveness in him he hadn’t felt in a long time. He didn’t know her struggles, her past, or the depths of what she hid behind those soft, rosy eyes, but something told him this wouldn’t be the last hunt they shared.

Fairy was nervous, he probably took notice to that of her small movements and how cautious she is with slowly slinking along the ground, he was true about the timing. She had to calculate everything for her height she was much smaller compared to Oath. But it had began to feel right. Twin ears swivel to the sides listening to him telling Fairytale to stay low against the ground. The ground that was filled of dirt and creepy crawlers. Something she didn't like but had to deal with for the time being.

He was handsome and had to catch herself if she stared for too long at the spots that adored his body in rainbow pigments. Fairy was slightly worried as she crept closer, hunkering down to were the ground brushed and tickled her underbelly still. Soon becoming very still, her pink pools staring ahead of her and Oath, watching the blurs move without sound until a deer caught scent and stamped those damned cloven hooves into the soft terrian.

It seemed like hours have passed although it wasn't hours at all. Maybe a half hour to a hour but not much more than an hour. Muscles coiling and uncoiling. Growing tension built there within the thin butterfly as eyes trained, attempting not to squint to catch the sight of tawny coat with speckles of white. Knowing there was had to be young but damn it to hell. Her vision gave her no advantage.

Oath could sense the tension radiating from Fairytale as they crept forward, her movements careful but deliberate. He admired her determination, even if something in her posture gave away her nerves. She was smaller, yes, but he could tell there was more to her than her size, more than the delicate appearance she carried. He’d noticed her glances, too, the way her pink eyes lingered on him, but he kept his focus on the hunt, aware of the moment they were building toward.

As the deer stamped its hooves, Oath’s muscles coiled tighter, his body ready to spring. He could feel the hesitation in Fairytale beside him, and though he didn’t fully understand what held her back, he trusted her instinct. Timing, as he’d told her, was everything.

He glanced at her, catching the slight strain in her expression as she struggled to track the herd through her blurred vision. She hadn’t said anything, but he was starting to piece it together; the way her eyes squinted, the way she moved with a careful precision that seemed almost unnatural. She couldn’t see well, and it explained the cautious way she approached the world around her.

But she didn’t let it stop her, and that’s what mattered.

"Trust yourself," Oath whispered softly, his voice low and reassuring. "You’re doing fine."

He gave her a brief, encouraging look before turning his attention back to the herd. They had only moments now. With a subtle nod, Oath signaled to Fairytale, his body launching forward with explosive speed. He trusted her to follow, to move as her instincts led her, knowing they would have to work together to take down their prey.

The thrill of the hunt surged through him, but alongside it was a growing admiration for the little wolf beside him, fighting her own battles even in the midst of something as primal as this.

Oath’s eyes locked on the nearest doe, every muscle in his body tense and ready to act. The herd was still unaware of their presence, but the moment was fast approaching. He could feel the energy coiling within him, ready to release in a burst of speed and power. But he wasn’t hunting alone. This was her moment too.

He glanced at Fairytale, her small form trembling with both anticipation and uncertainty. She needed that final push, that spark of confidence to act.

“Now!” Oath barked sharply, his voice firm yet encouraging.

His whispered words reaching her waiting ears, giving her that encouraging hope along with his look before his attention went back towards the deer a head of the both of them. He exploded with speed that she could only wish for, hoping that she wouldn't let him down or herself. Her paws carried her carefully over the terrian. The sand slipping from under her pads, slipping out from under her frame. She had rose up once more and continued forwards.

The push she needed had come when Oath told her and spoke. She breathed in, taking in the scents all around her. Ears swivel upon her skull as energy also began to spill and seep out from her body. A younger deer came into veiw - happy that she was drawing closer and closer, slow and steady always ran the race. But this wasn't about to be a slow hunt, deer were also agile and quick. That's were her size had gave her benefits.

Not only was the deer agile and quick, she was also. Even though she had slipped and stumbled for a moment. Her eyes trained on the younger deer. The rest of the herd alerted and ran away from them all leaving behind the stunned youngster. He was completely powerful and built also for speed, adoration filled her heart for him, admiring the way he easily traveled across the ground unlike her tiny frame.

But she made due, and grabbed quickly at the legs, watching if the deer would kick out to meet it's attacker. Small growls meaning buisness slipping from her mouth, shaking her skull quickly. As ears laced back tight against her skull. Her grip grew tighter as the deer did kick out, trying to make Fairytale unlatch.

She was proud of herself as she kept her grip for a few more moments. Then releasing and finding another leg to latch onto moving in and out from the younger deer trying to cause Fairy harm.
