Everywhere Rip looked, it seemed like the plants were wilting. Once spry and lush vegetation was turning crunchy beneath his paws. While it was amusing to stomp through the Ravine making a racket and sending small animals skittering in his path... it didn't leave him a lot to play with when Sakana was trying to teach him how to make a poultice or a tea.

Speaking of, where was the brown man? Rip poked about in the healer's den, but for all his searching, the Sawbone was nowhere to be found. With a hurumph and a sigh, he left the Ravine and made his way across the Moor towards Wolfpaw Lake. Surely things would be better closer to the water. They had to be... right?

Even the lake seemed smaller than he remembered, though whether that was due to his increasing height, or an actual pending natural disaster was beyond his knowing. He squelched through the mud, savoring the cool squelch between his toes while he waded out to search for aquatic plants that might be useful. The water was a deep, muddy brown and had a stagnant smell to it, but that didn't mean there wasn't still something worth wading for out here.

A lake! Finally. The dark slate grey wolf looked over the section of water nearest him with an excited hunger in his eyes. There was water. Murky and surrounded by mud and cracked, barren earth where he could tell the water used to be, but there was water. Yet, his excitement faltered. He was not alone. Already in the water was another wolf, smaller than him, but perhaps not by much. He wandered into the depths in search of…something, because the other did not drink. Lathan observed for a long moment, watching as the fellow canid searched and searched.

Pale peach gaze wavered, shifting to the shoreline to see what plants were still around and not wilted. It was hard to tell with the red sky and the red water and the red ground. He huffed. Fine, he would go closer to investigate. As he descended closer to the lake, his paws quick and quiet on the crunchy grass and then even quieter on the soft and yet dry silty soil of the lake shore that had been exposed by the drought. He huffed a soft ‘woof’ to let the other know he was there, if he hadn’t noticed. Gaze flicked from the plants ahead and then to the wolf. His head tilted slightly as he slowed to a stop, "if I may, what are you searching for?" He asked, curious. After asking, Lathan would dip his skull to drink before waiting quietly for a response.
