The darkness seemed deeply unnatural, especially to the boys. There's something about it, tugging at Davey's chest, deeply unsettling. Unsettling and exciting, even if it's enough to send an anxious ripple down his spine. Through his system. Fitful, dreamless sleep gripping him through the night, curled closer to his siblings and parents than usual. While it's unusual for the boy to be this clingy, it's hard to blame him.
It also doesn't last long. When first light breaks, he's quick to wake Tide. There was no way he'd go exploring alone, but with his brother? Well, trouble comes in pairs. The two boys set out early, before anyone can stop them. They won't be the only ones exploring it, and someone would surely come after them sooner or later. "Wakey wakey, Baitboy. Let's see what happened."
Half dragging Tide, the two boys make their way through the spooky environment, searching for something as brilliant (or as sinister) as they are.

The kings of fucking around, the kings of finding out. While Davey's sleep had been dreamless, Tide's was less comforting. Nightmares of the sturgeon haunted him thoroughly, the encounter shaking him more than he'd admit to. Inseparable as they were, Tide doesn't find much comfort in Davey's rude awakening in the red dawn. Blearily rubbing at his eyes and stumbling from their home, carefully picking their way over the strewn branches and various overturned refuse among their home. Descending towards the strange, yawning maw, Tide's eyes go wide. Spires like teeth break through the earth, reaching up and out towards the sky. It's an imposing picture, a weight that rests deep in his chest. In his bones. In his guts. There's a lot to process here, though he boldly approaches on of the spires. Pressing into it with his nose, tapping it with his paw. The surfaces are weathered, worn smooth by what seemed like endless seasons. "What the fuck are these?" Tide looks to his brother for answers, brow furrowing. It's all strange. Very strange indeed. |
