A Dark Discovery [Lia]

Éldi had seen many things in his lifetime but the spires that stretched out of the ground were something new and not altogether welcome. He had a bad feeling about this but felt the need to check on it for the sake of his new pack. He was old, only having so much life left to live, if something happened it wouldn't be a terrible lose like a younger wolf with a wide open future ahead of them.
The stone spires were tall, stretching out high into the sky. As far as he could tell it seemed like maybe they had been pushed up through the earth, but by what? He peered closer at the carvings on a nearby spire, trying to make out the symbols but the only one he could see whats a contorted, screaming face. Was this a place of sacrifice? His ears twitched at the breeze whistled through the spires, causing his hackles to raise. This was a dangerous place. Would the danger be contained here?

The news flitted all the way down to the south lands, and to the Vedia pack. Once she heard about the go-ons, she had sought out Eltrys, and volunteered to go on his behalf. She knew he would be needed to ensure the pack was safe after the earthquake, but someone should scout and come back with information.
So she went with her Archdruids blessings, and travelled to the strange new land that had appeared as if by magic. As she stepped through the strange stone spires, she realised she wasn’t alone. She startled, until she realised the ageing wolf wasn’t any strange beings that lived here. Perhaps another curious wolf. “Hello, are you investigating too?” She called out, secretly glad not to be exploring alone.

Éldi scouted closer to one of the spires, stepping carefully as though someone might be watching him and indeed it seemed someone was. He jumped a little as a lovely young lady with the scent of Vedia arrived. "Oh, yes, sorry you startled me. I don't believe we've been introduced yet but my name is Éldi. I figured I'd see what all the commotion was about. Can't say I've found much in the way of answers, only more questions."
He approached the nearest spire and leaned out to sniff at it, noting the smell of old earth. These seemed to be ancient structures. So old and yet so new to this area. "They must've rocketed out of the earth during the tremors, or perhaps they are the cause of the tremors."

She didn’t realise he held the scent of Vedia until she stepped closer to him. She blinked in surprise then, and offered him a small smile. Amused. They lived in the same territory, but instead of meeting at home, met miles away. Funny how life worked sometimes.
Only more questions. She wasn’t surprised, and she nodded her head, stepping closer to the spire he moved to investigate. Grateful to have not only someone to explore with, but a pack wolf at that. “I’m Lia, and I thought to do the same.” she explained, she dug a little near the base of the spire, and tapped a claw against the odd material. It felt like stone, but surely that didn’t make sense. “Could be either.” She agreed as she listened to his theories.

The lovely woman introduced herself as Lia and moved in to help in the investigation. Éldi moved to the other side of the spire, using his claws to knock off some of the lingering dirt. "Oh my… this is an unhappy carving." He eyed the face that seemed to be screaming for a moment before moving down the spire to look for other carvings or markings. "Do you see any markings or anything on your side?"
As his investigation hit dirt, Éldi reached out with his paws, digging a the base of the spire as he looked to see if there was another carving just beneath the surface. Maybe if they could find enough symbols they could piece them together and figure out what these spires were for.
