Flare was up for something of a challenge, so when he recognised the scent of prey and knew they wouldn’t make it easy on him, he grinned. He moved slowly and carefully through the field, scenting his way along in the early hour of the morning. The sun had barely begun to rise, and it cast long shadows upon the world.

The tinge of red from dawn wasn’t helpful, either. A hint of blinding brightness above him, and darkness everywhere else. He ignored the distractions of the sky, and concentrated on the scent. Letting it guide him as he hunted his chosen prey

"Speech"

He placed his slave nearby, and let her look at the pretty mountains for a while as he set about stalking another meal. It didn't seem like she was gungho about finding Abaddon for him as she had been. Hmm... She might need more incentive.

The scent of prey wafted to his nose ah yes, a good fat pig will fatten them both up, though to hunt this alone would be a challenge. He noticed a flame-marked male nearby, heading in the same direction as the prey scent. He narrowed his eyes at him, was he willing to share with another male? Perhaps, he could lug at least a part of the kill back to his slave. He gave the other a nod, maybe they could down it together without much fuss.

Flare was already sampling the world for scents, and caught the trail of a stranger before he saw them. A glance towards the other wolf would see the nod. A silent understanding of a shared hunt. He nodded back, and poked his nose forward, indicating the hunt.

With the knowledge another wolf would be fighting the creature with him, he changed his plan on the fly. He nodded for Ultyr to move behind the board, and raised a paw to indicate placing himself in its path. He took the other wolfs acceptance for granted, and moved forward into position to catch the prey once the stranger had startled it towards him.

"Speech"

He curled his lip as the other decided he would take point. He had missed his opportunity, but if this was gonna go well he might as well be flexible.

He stalked away from the fire and charcoal male and came up slowly behind the snuffling pig. Its tail flipped back and forth and its bristly hair thick on its back. He crouched low and waited for the other to get into position. After a moment he dashed out with a snarl and gave the swine a good swipe over his thigh.

With a squeal, it charged forward. Ultyr hot on its heels

Flare didn’t have to wait long before the sounds that exploded around him told him what Ultry was doing and where. Good, the boar was led towards him. Its squealing, angry cries kept him focused as it suddenly shot out beside him.

He leaped forward, landing hard on the animal and pinning the wild boar to the ground. It tried to get him with its tusks, but he was able to keep them pointed away from him as he fought for a grip on its neck. Digging in deep with his fangs, he tore out its throat and let it bleed to death. Its thrashing beneath him slowed and weakened as it lost its strength and died.

"Speech"

Hah! Flare had it by rights! Ultyr tore into the pig as the charcoal male tore into the throat. He nearly got kicked by the sharp hooves but was able to open the tender belly and watch the blood flow fast and thick! He tore into the innards as the pig expired between them. He bent to make quick work of clearing the organs and picking the most nutrient dense. The liver mainly, and a few other organ meats.

With a nod he also tore into the back side to loosen a hefty chunk of the hog's leg and all the way up to its ribs. He had someone besides himself to feed.
