Mae needed lessons, not only to help protect herself but help protect those she cared about. And quiet frankly, fighting would be the best way. She needed the skills. Needed to learn better. Not saying that Reaper didn't help at all, because he has and does. But she needed a different scene. The lands changed underfoot as a smile crossed her maw, today would be the day that she would harness what she learned so far. Lifting her skull towards the heavens. A lesson today, something she'd need in her life. And the ridge adorned with fossils weren't too far away from the pack. So placing one foot in front of another. Her song rang out to those that would answer.

"Speech!"

I will not bow, I will not break;
Atreyu had moved to Auster for some scouting, looking for the best place for her band to settle for the coming season change. She didn't know what this place had next. With everything that had been going on, Atreyu knew they would need a more permanent place to reside. She found herself exploring Fossil Ridge, wondering if it held any resources they could use for the band. Bigs trotted faithfully alongside her, looking around as well for anything that could help them. It was a fine time to look, as the air was still frigid and nothing appeared to grow here.

Soon enough, Atreyu felt her ears prick up as a song echoed out, her head snapping up as the voice was familiar. It was Mae! Looking to Bigs, Atreyu smiled and made her way over to where the call had come from. Standing a respectful distance away from the darkly pelted woman, Atreyu bowed her head with a grin and Bigs did the same. "Hello Mae, it's been a while! I hope you have been well!" The woman had called for a sparring partner, and Atreyu did her best to always help her friends. "I heard you needed a sparring partner?" She asked, setting her defenses and flexing her cat-like claws in the ground below her. This would be a fun chance to see how much her friend really knew, and a possible teaching moment.

She head the sound of another woman arriviing, the sight of Atreyu coming towards her, a wave of her tail offered as well as a respectful dip of her own skull. A shake of her cranium to rid the flies that buzzed close by. Which began to annoy her but not allowing it to show to her friend. "Atreyu, it has been a while. I have been well and yourself?" She smiled towards the feline painted rose woman. "I would enjoy a sparring partner, as long as we do not allow the spar to come between a building friendship. And good to see you Bigs." Mae offered out, her own body relaxing but still in a defensive stance. "You may start dear friend." Her statement simple as gentle words flew out, she'd watch Atreyu carefully and calculating her own movements.

Bigs nodded to the woman and smiled, waving his tail, 'Good to see you, as well, Mae. We have been well.' Smiling, Atreyu shook her head slowly, "I would never let a spar come between us, win or lose." The dire woman was no sour loser, she could take a hit and keep moving without an issue. As Mae offered the first move, Atreyu dipped her head further down in respect before launching toward her friend without warning. Moving toward the right side of Mae, Atreyu aimed her fangs right at the nape of Mae's neck, her aim to grasp and then shake the woman. She didn't wish to disorient her friend nor did she aim to pierce the skin, just a friendly grab. Atreyu would never intentionally harm a friend. If she hurt Mae, she would be quick to apologize once the dust settled.

The grey woman smiled to Bigs and Atreyu, a wave of her tail given forth. While she watched that of the pink marbled dire female. Her friend, someone she could count on besides those of the pack. What happened next did surprise Mae, Atreyu was swift upon her paws. A new found respect Mae began to feel. She needed and wanted more lessons. As Atreyu came in to make purchase upon Mae's nape, the hit was a success. Knowing there was no harm meant. No, it was all lessons. Mae reached her own head around to make purchase upon Atreyus shoulder or even her front leg. Hoping that her own attack would surprise that of Atreyu.

Atreyu felt Mae flex beneath her fangs as she made to grab for Atreyu's leg, though she wasn't as quick to get away this time. Atreyu felt Mae's teeth land their mark on the upper portion of her right front leg, though she was quick to pull herself out of the hold and release Mae. She gave a quick jump backward, away from Mae, and dipped down into a play bow. That was the most fun she had experienced in a while, and she didn't even feel that tired!

Atreyu smiled easily at Mae, waving her spotted tail behind her as she lifted up out of the bow and sat down on her haunches. "That was fun!" She said laughing softly, those holographic eyes shimmering with amusement. "You did really good!" Her smile grew and she looked around them, wondering what to do next. Perhaps they could take a nature walk and discuss fighting techniques, they could certainly learn from each other, and maybe gather some herbs in the meantime.

Mae panted as the two women allowed the spar to end, a smile crossing her lips as she stood there. Catching her breath. As she watched the other woman offer forth a play bow, Mae couldn't help but do the same thing, offering a barkish call forward. Her own tail dancing and waving to and fro behind her hind quarters. Only to stand up and prance towards Atreyu, giving a gentle shove with her shoulder. It was a respect thing with Mae as a set of lessons would be in order. And the woman wasn't stupid to not see that. "I would like that I mean if you aren't busy that is. I enjoyed our friendly spar also." A simple statement, the slate woman was actually happy that she had another woman willing to give her lessons on different styles.

Smiling, Atreyu returned the gentle shoulder shove given by Mae, an affectionate nudge more like. She motioned for the other woman to follow her and began to move away from where they had sparred. It would be a fun hike, she was good at this sort of thing. Helping others was her thing, or so she liked to think anyway. "Where to? Do you know anywhere we could go hiking?" Getting the blood pumping with proper exercise would help them too, though she wasn't interested in a vigorous walk. Her holographic gaze was bright as it landed on Mae, the smile on her face reaching into Atreyu's eyes as well. She would think about the lessons on the way, taking whatever suggestion Mae had and going with it.
