Come on, girls, are you ready to play?
Hunting Expansion
Redrum’s golden eyes flickered with a predatory gleam as he prowled through the gathering shadows, his muscles twitching in anticipation. The scent of bison, thick and musky, hung in the air, stirred by the cool breeze that whispered through the willows. His nostrils flared, and his long ears pinned back, catching the soft rustling of his packmates emerging from the woods since he’d previously called them. The towering bull, leading its herd through the trees, had trespassed into the land his mother seeked to claim, Medusa, had marked it as her own though, and this would not stand. He would do anything for his mother. Anything.
A low growl rumbled in his throat, the call to arms subtle, wild yet commanding, as he circled them in a loose semi-circle, his posture tense and deliberate as his tail lashing left to right. He steadied his breath, looking back, golden gaze flicking to each of them, a silent challenge in his stance. “The bull... is ours.” The red brute rasped between halting breaths, his body coiling with the promise of bloodshed. There would be no mercy tonight.
And then the young brute moved, forward, onward into a careful stalk to attach his chosen prey.

Enyo glided through the willows like a shadow, her heavy paws silent over the damp earth. The scent of bison clung to the air. Her broad chest expanded as she inhaled deeply, the robust, musky aroma sending a jolt of anticipation through her veins. She adored this, the hunt. The moments before bloodshed, where every sense heightened, every muscle primed, where instinct took precedence over everything else. Her mouth watered, not for food, but for the sheer exhilaration of bloodshed.
Her eye caught the shimmer of Redrum's tense figure ahead, coiled like a spring ready to release. There was a savage beauty in his movements, something wild and untamed that she couldn't help but admire. His predatory dance stirred her own restlessness. Finding understanding in the primal and carnal lust to catch the prey. The bison loomed ahead, large and lumbering, utterly oblivious to the fate that waited in the shadows.
Ours, she thought, repeating his words silently, her voice only for herself. Her icy gaze traced the movements of the massive bull. Its muscles, its gait, its vulnerable flanks. Already, her mind dissected the coming battle. Calculating the perfect moment to strike. But more than anything, it was the promise of the kill that made her breath catch in her throat. That lust for control, to bring down a creature of such size...to feel its life drain beneath her jaws. It was an unparalleled pleasure. The wind teased her thick fur as she stalked, her massive body low and deliberate. Every step was calculated and deliberate. She felt the pulse of the earth beneath her, the heartbeat of the land she sought to claim. Her senses tingled with the knowledge that soon, she would be drenched in victory.
She cast a quick glance at Redrum, a subtle smirk pulling at the corner of her broad muzzle. She reveled in the tension that hung between them. The thrill of the hunt brought the group together in a way words never could. It was almost as good as before a battle. Her gaze lingered on him for a moment longer than necessary, admiring the raw, dangerous energy that radiated from him. A brief flash of desire flickered through her chest- not for him- but for what they would accomplish together.
There was no sound from her, only the sharp focus of a predator on the prowl. Her blood thrummed with eagerness, the wild part of her pushing against the restraint of patience. But she knew better than to rush. The moment would come, and when it did, the power and elegance of the kill would be hers to savor. Enyo, after all, did nothing without purpose.
Her nostrils flared, tasting the air again. The bison’s time was coming to an end, and she would be there to witness it fall. She lived for this.
The raw beauty of life ending at her will.

Identification heard of a hunt for the pack that Redrum was hosting, someone she had not meant yet of course. She heard his call however commanding he was, Identification was a natural at hunting and this would allow the other hunters to see this. To take this in. She turned her emerald gaze to the brute as he spoke. A nod of an agreement. The night was young and promising, they would feed the pack, and she was apart of it.
Replaying the yearlings voice within her mind 'The bull is ours.' He did seem skillfull, but a bull was much harder, they'd have to watch the movements and the defensive stance that the bull would show. However, the good thing is the wind was in the partys favor. A smirk played along her lips as she noticed Enyo and gave a nod of her own skull.
They were all stalking, waiting patiently for the time to strike. The bisons scent thick as Fic watched carefully. Identification was ready, she trusted the patience she had. But also the thrill of the hunt was always haunting, always a leason to learn from. To reply within the mind later on. Thinking of what could have been different. Or what could be improved.
Life was like that. Constantly teaching lessons for any that paid attention. The sandy woman lurked and watched everything. The way the herd moved in and out of streams of light casted down from the moon, then towards the bull who kept pushing the herd further and further. Fic would stalk closer, her movements calculated and careful. Her eyes turning between the duo and then the bull.

His brother had spread the word that they were going for a hunt in the nearby willows, and of course, Ripper was all too keen to oblige! He swiftly emerged with his brothers, trailing behind Red with his ever present grin. Black and white gaze found the bison herd that was passing through the trees, fixating on the bull at the head of the group. Was that the one? His jaws salivated in anticipation, and to his barely contained excitement, Red stated the bull was theirs. His body rippled with anticipation.
He followed his brothers lead, taking the same approach Red did as he circled around, gaze moving from one bison to the next. They would need to separate him from the rest, a task easily done with the group of them. He was good at harassing things, and he was eager to get started. "Come on Grim, let's do what we do best!" He cackled before surging forward, leading the way as he moved toward the herd. Slowly at first, but then he picked up the pace until he was racing in. He began to snarl and bark, at last alerting the herd to their approach.
Ripper slipped in the space between the bull and the rest, snapping his jaws at the bull and forcing it to break away from them before the young wolf turned his attention back to the herd. Together with Grim, the pair harried and harassed the others, forcing them to turn away in confusion and panic and leaving the bull to fend for itself.

Frankly, Battery had little to no hunting skill. He'd been eating psychedelic mushroom for months now, the lack of real protein evident on his weakened body. Any smart wolf would send him away, at best to watch, but Battery would not take no for an answer. He wanted in on the fun, too! And there was plenty of fun he needed to catch up on!
They dispersed, two others branching off to separate the bull from the herd. Battery was useless when it came to hunting, but, lucky for them all, he was really damn good at being distracting. Maybe if he could distract the rest of the herd, he could separate them further from the bull while everyone else rallied to bring it down! Perhaps it was a suicide mission, to tangle with a herd of bison, but Battery didn't stop to think that far ahead. All he saw was a game waiting to be played.
With a maniacal laugh, the strange man loped away and towards the herd. He was fast, thankfully, weaving between the heavy feet of the massive animals, spooking them and herding them away from the others focusing on the bull. It wasn't hard really, they seemed to be just as scared of him as most others seemed to be!
Redrum's gaze swept over the shadows, watching as the wolves began to filter in one by one, their forms weaving through the darkening forest like wraiths. First came Enyo, her muscular silhouette slipping forward like a ghost through the willows. Her eyes meeting his across the clearing, a brief recognition passing between them. Redrum's ears flicked subtly, the only sign of acknowledgment he offered her at the moment, but the intensity of his gaze conveyed more — she was seen. Then, with a quick rumble in his throat, he turned his attention back to the hunt.
Others followed in swift succession. The woman known as Identification. He offered a flick of his ear in her direction, noting her presence with a sharp, approving glance. But it was the sight of Ripper and his brothers that made his lips curl into a smirk, a flash of teeth in the dim light. Battery and Grim, the newest to be reclaimed to the pack’s fold, had taken to the hunt with fervor. They moved as if they’d never left — as if they’d never been separated at all.
Redrum’s smirk widened as they slunk closer. Already aware of their roles. His brothers surged into action, darting out to the herd’s edge, their snarls shattering the night’s stillness. Panic rippled through the herd like a wave, the bison’s hooves pounding the earth as they scrambled to retreat. The towering bull hesitated, turning to shield his harem as the wolves pressed in, trying to force a wedge between them.
“Bleed it. Overwhelm it.” Redrum breathed, his voice low and dangerous, meant only for the wolves closest to him, the ones who hadn't had the role of distraction as he barreled in. He released a bestial roar, darting in to bite at the bison’s flank; prepared to begin the process of bleeding it out.
Redrum’s eyes gleamed, his smirk returning as the bull, now isolated and exposed, bellowed a furious challenge as the assault. This was their moment. There was no need for words. They knew what to do.

Enyo watched as the others surged forward, their snarls and howls filling the night air, and a fierce thrill shivered through her. Her icy blue gaze locked on the towering bull that now found itself isolated, exposed. It was magnificent. Massive and defiant. A muscular beast with horns gleaming under the moonlight as it challenged the predators encircling it. But even such a beast had weaknesses, and Enyo was well-versed in exploiting them.
The commotion of her packmates was organized chaos, each wolf knowing their role in this performance. Ripper and his brothers were relentless. Redrum, with his bold movements, was the hammer driving the wedge deeper between the bull and its herd, the separation now absolute. Identification was there, and Enyo didn't mind in the least. She knew the woman was agile or at least she seemed to be. Everybody mattered, every wolf was needed.
Enyo’s body tensed, her muscles taut beneath her thick fur as she circled wide, positioning herself just outside of the bull’s range.
Now.
With an explosive burst of power, Enyo lunged forward, her paws thundering across the ground as she closed the distance. She angled her approach low, her intense gaze never wavering from her target. In one powerful leap, she launched herself at the bull, her broad chest and strong forelimbs slamming into its side. Her claws sank into its thick hide, her weight throwing it off balance just enough for her to make her move.
Enyo scrambled up, her muscular body straining as she climbed onto the bull’s back. The bull let out an enraged bellow, its massive frame bucking violently as it attempted to throw her off. Enyo gritted her teeth, her jaws clamping down on the back of its neck, her powerful limbs clinging tightly. She could feel its muscles rippling beneath her, every thrash sending shockwaves through her body, but she held on, her focus absolute. The bull twisted, its powerful hind legs kicking out in a desperate attempt to dislodge her, but Enyo was relentless. She was a creature forged for this. A powerhouse of strength and tenacity. Her thick neck and sturdy frame absorbed the impact of the bucking. Even if she didn't do a lot of damage, she was heavy enough to slow it. Make it easier for others. If needed she would jump off.
She could hear Redrum’s voice in her mind, his command clear: Bleed it. Overwhelm it.
And that was precisely what she intended to do.
With a fierce growl, Enyo shifted her grip, her jaws releasing only to snap down again, this time lower, aiming for a vulnerable spot between the bull’s shoulder blades. Her bite was unyielding, her crushing jaws tearing into its flesh as she felt the warm rush of blood spill into her mouth. The taste only fueled her further, her muscles burning as she rode out each of the bull’s desperate attempts to throw her.
Tonight, they would feast, and the land would be theirs.

Identification took her part to help Insomnia expand territories, and hunting was always a skill she had enjoyed. The jaded pools slipped and locked onto the packs target. A towering bull, a lick of her lips as she moved forward. The woman was making sure that her own calculations were in check and that she wouldn't mess the hunt up, taking note to were everyone was and their places.
Paws swiftly carried Identification out from her spot. She watched the legs that kicked out as it's attempt to dislodge Enyo free. And dodged out of the way of the powerful legs. That's when Identification circled around, bared teeth and all. Saliva dripping from the woman's jaws, powerful growls echoing out. Her eyes still stay locked with the bull, no matter the danger it presented not only to herself but the others.
She seen her target and lunged at it's neck, pinning her ears against her skull as the woman clamped down tighter around the jugular. It was a dangerous attack especially if the bull wanted to charge, but more focused on the others, the taste of the life source flowing down off of the beasts coat and into Fics mouth. Knowing that it wouldn't take the rest of the night to bring the bull down.
It however would prove her strength to the others. Allowing her grip to release after she shook her head, wounding the beast even more. She allowed that of her body to relax as back paws then front paws landed upon the ground. Fic would wait till the bull lowered it's powerful head and lunge at it's nose.

They drove the others away, sending them hurtling off into the distance and leaving the bull to its own devices. Cackling wildly, Ripper turned and moved to join the others in harassing the main course. The wolves worked in tandem in an effort to take down the beast that dared trespass in soon-to-be Insomnian lands. Grim was right on his heels, the pair crossing over one another as Ripper went left and Grim went right. With a wild gleam in his eye, Ripper launched himself at the bison's hindquarters, sharp talons sinking into its rump, his own legs scrabbling where he could as the bull jerked, bucked, and kicked around. Its back hooves caught him a time or two in his own legs and stomach, causing him to gasp for air here and there, and even more-so when he sunk his jagged teeth into its flesh. Ripper of course, had little sense of self-preservation. He was getting the shit kicked out of him, but hey, at least he was slowing it down! |

Battery was small and barely above the age of a child. Not only did his body give this away, but his clear inexperience as well. Teeth wildly snapped towards the other bison, chasing them away as if he had been one of the bigger wolves. They were still afraid of him even if he was small! A bit late to the party however, it took him a moment to realize others had swiftly redirected their focus on the main bull instead of chasing away the others. Battery barked at the retreating herd before turning towards the others and the prize.
Slow to catch up given his size, he was the last to snap at the large animal. It had powerful hooves he was certain and struggled to keep up with the speed of everyone, but before he got left behind, Battery launched upwards just enough to sink his fangs into the working tendons and ligaments of the bisons hind leg just above the heel. Seeking to sever them and severely limit it's ability to run, Battery shook his head and sunk his fangs in even deeper and reveled in the taste of the blood on his tongue.

Redrum's hunting party moved with brutal precision, their jaws tearing and biting into the bull's thick hide, opening wound after wound. Blood matted their muzzles, dripping from their jaws as they surrounded the beast, each strike measured to sap its strength. Each beginning a new ribbon of blood sends spattering to the ground. The bull's breathing grew labored, nostrils flaring with each panicked exhale, its powerful legs beginning to tremble as exhaustion took hold. Every heave of its chest weakened it further, its leg’s beginning to fail; and Redrum could feel its will starting to fracture.
With one final desperate lunge, the bull stumbled, its hooves catching on uneven ground. It crashed to its knees, bellowing weakly, eyes wide as it’s flight response pleaded with its vessel to keep running. Redrum wasted no time.
He lunged forward, seizing the bull's throat in a merciless grip, his golden eyes flashing with wicked delight. He held his gaze on his pack, beckoning them to finish the kill, to keep bleeding it.
