Bertha... had died. The big, protective sheep had kept Gypsy company, guiding her through the world, for as long as she could remember. Now that she was alone, the world was truly dark. Funny joke, considering the tiny woman was blind. She moved slowly across the land, each pawstep well placed to keep her from toppling over the edge of a cliff or some similar fate.

The old woman had needed a nap and so had curled up in a patch of soft grass. She slept like the dead and, when she woke, even she could tell that things had changed. The fae's little pink nose quivered. There was an edge to the air, a bite. Gypsy felt the faintest of rumbles in the earth, but that wasn't terribly uncommon. The earth moved like they moved, albeit much slower. Ears strained for any sounds, but there were none. That was the oddest part; the lack of sound. The purple and white woman's brow furrowed and she could do nothing aside from sit still, ears twitching every now and again as she strained them, searching for something. Anything.

If Gem were being honest with herself, she would admit that she is absolutely terrified. Not of the rumbles that happened throughout the night - even if they were unsettling. It was quite an awful lot for what they normally would experience. Something indeed had been happening. And while Gem was an adventurous sort, she was more of a stare at the stars kind of adventurer, not a fuck around and find out sort.

What didn't help though was the congregation of wolves heading toward the ominous thing in the distance. Her body trembled with nervousness as she followed slowly. Dawn brought with it an array of reds that clouded any other color. Much like the color of one of her eyes. Very spooky and quite scary. Gem continues closer though because once she sees the spires closer, she is left in awe at the sight of them. Massive metal things jutting up toward the dark red sun with... were those runes etched into the bases? One of the images looked terrified.

Drawing closer, Gem notices a woman sitting off to the side. Alone, by herself, sort of scenting the air, but was there any scent here? Actually, was there even any wind? Maybe a soft tremble of a breeze that was allowed to whistle ominously through the holes in the spire. Her attention stays on the woman though. From what she could see as she decided to walk closer was that the woman might be blind? Gem's brow draws down as she calls out to the woman.

"Do you need help?" Gem requests, head canting when she comes to stop a foot or so away.

A voice sounded and the little old woman flinched reflexively. Blame it on her past or the fact that she was so distracted by the eeriness of the world. Both would have been correct. At least the voice sounded kind as it offered her aid. "Y-yes," she responded in the softest of tones. "I've lost my guide," Gypsy explained, ears flicking backwards for a moment. "If I could keep my side against yours, it would be very helpful."

The small fae rose, taking a tentative step towards where she could feel the heat of the other wolf. Again, Gypsy flinched as the fur of their shoulders touched. "My name is Gypsy," she offered, "Thank you for your help."

As the duo walked along, the purple fae kept her senses on alert. "Something's wrong, isn't it? Something dangerous is happening. Like the world is quaking in terror." Her every day voice was soft, but she spoke in a whisper. It didn't seem right to talk any louder than that. Not with the oppressive atmosphere closing in around them. As if to solidify this thought, another tremor went through the ground. The ground beneath their paws was hard, but every now and again a soft spot formed. Tentatively, Gypsy dug her little paws into softer earth, noting a slight difference in texture from the path they'd been on. "Is something different here?"

Gem's lips turn down in a frown and gaze flicks to her companion, Hem. If she ever lost him... She wouldn't know what she would. Understanding and friendliness warms her expression as she returns her attention to the older woman. "I'd be more than happy to assist," she speaks softly too, her voice a gentle wisp on the ominous winds. Waiting patiently, Gem allows Gypsy to move at her pace and doesn't budge when the older woman leans against her.

Walking along, careful to help Gypsy along the way, Gem nods in response before remembering that Gypsy cannot see. "I have a feeling something is wrong, yes," her words are hesitant as they travel between the rising spires. "There were lots of tremors last night and now these creepy tall metal spires are reaching out from the ground toward the sky. Which by the way is bathed in red as if someone cut a god's throat," her nose wrinkles, tone taking on a hint of fear. There was nothing good about this scenario.

When they reach a soft spot in the ground, she stops as Gypsy digs. Looking around to see if she notices anything different, Gem lets out a quiet noise of disagreement. "I can't really tell. Other than the dirt seems to be hard in some places and softer in others, nothing else really seems different," she comments, watching Gypsy dig at a softer patch.

Gypsy wasn't born blind, so she could imagine all of the things that Gem was describing. Tall spikes of metal or stone. A red sky. She'd felt the tremors and she could hear the screaming of the wind. The sound was odd, grating, unsettling. She didn't like it.

The ground apparently wasn't any different so the small wolf gave up her digging and waited for her guide to move forward before she began walking again. "Do you think something is going to happen? " She remembered tales of the time that the world turned to a seemingly endless night. Was it happening again? Was the red only the beginning?

Gem walks with Gypsy, glad to not be hovering near the spires. As much as she wants to know what the carvings on them mean, she also doesn't want one to fall on top of her either. Something about them makes her unusually nervous and she was already a nervous wolf to begin with. Could her new companion feel the shivers of fear sparking beneath her skin?

Gypsy's question had Gem contemplating for a moment. While she was far too young to have experienced anything before this, she had heard the stories from her father. "There was once a time when the moon had grown large enough to nearly fill the whole sky. Legend says that a creature in a cloak filled with fireflies transcended upon our earth. This creature doled out sicknesses, full of mushrooms and crystals. Many wolves went crazy, some never made it out alive. If these spires have anything to do with this legend, I would say yes something terrifying is going to happen," her wispy voice takes on a spooky tone as if she too were a ghost.

Ears perked, listening to Gem's tale. A cloak filled with fireflies? It sounded almost pretty. Gypsy hadn't been born blind. She had been made blind. Just as she hadn't been born tailless. She remembered fireflies; their golden, glinting pulsations of light. To the bling fae, it didn't sound as ominous as Gem made it out to be, but she hadn't been there to witness it. She'd been on another continent entirely.

"Where shall we go now?" The small woman had no other ideas as to what they should be doing. She'd tried digging a bit but nothing had seemed off. "What else do you see? Is there anything strange about these towers?"
