Royal meal
Renegade

Rampage had enjoyed spending the last year roaming about the landscape, getting to know himself and his abilities. At the same time he got to learn all manner of natures secrets. Being a loner didn’t give the security one got in a pack but Rampage had never been one to fill a need for protection. Even without a pack, his bloodline marked him as a prince, a standard above those who were not Klein’s.
He was back to his old stomping grounds now, and had just found himself a surprisingly fat rabbit for a snack. Ram lay near the water’s edge, one paw resting on the corpse to keep it in place as he tore a chunk of flesh away. His ears were up and alert, listening for any unwanted visitors interrupting the roaming prince’s meal.

Renegade was on his way back to his old stomping grounds, where Ashen had once upon stood tall and proud. He knew there were some herbs to be found here. Though it was hard to have a store of them when you were a loner and always moving around. He’d been quite active, roaming all over boreas, so he sought out the herb Boneset so that he might make a poultice for his aching muscles. He wouldn’t need very much, but he remembered where they grew from when they once lived here.
He led his ocelot companion, nearly in a beeline as they crossed over the tired border, when he caught the scent of someone familiar. Of course Ashen scents had long faded from here now, but his brother’s presence was quite fresh. He veered slightly until Rampage came into sight. "Fancy meeting you here, brother.” He greeted but did not sit, he was eager to get his plants for relief.

Ram’s head raised from tearing off a bit of meat as a scent came to him, one that was both familiar and actually welcome. Dropping his meat the brown wolf turned to see Renegade. How long had it been since he’d seen family? “Ren, hadn’t expected to run into you here.” There was a welcoming tone in his words, despite his pride comparing himself to the rest of the world, Ren was a loved family member. No need to see each other all the time to still have bonds of kinship.
“I just felt it was time to come back, I guess amuse self in some memories of earlier days and all that. What brought you this way?” Not that he was some emotionally softy but, hey, everyone looks back wistfully at points, right?

Renegade had to barely say a word to gain his brother’s attention. Despite all the time that had passed since they had last been together, there was still a recognizable familial bond. A smile rose on Ren’s features as Rampage greeted him with surprise. "I can say the same for you.” He returned, but his eyes were already searching out the boneset. He had a crick in his muscle as they spoke. Before he excused himself Ram went on, mentioning he felt drawn here, which was a perfect segway.
"I knew where a wild patch of boneset was here.” He answered easily as his head gestured over to where the plant was growing close by. "Make it into a poultice with some duck fat and it’ll take all the pain out of sore muscles.”<.font> He went on to explain. "Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt your meal.” Ren went on, finally noticing what Ram was up to.

Ram noticed Ren’s interest was split between him and looking through the foliage. This was a great spot for plants thanks to the lakes and wildlife there were a good number of different plants here, many useful herbs for those who knew of them.
Ren mentioned the plants were for a poultice on sore muscles and Ram did a more observant look over his brother's body for any damage. Certainly no gaping wounds but he’d mentioned muscle aches. “Get into a spot of trouble or age getting to you early on,” the last bit a teasing jab over a serious topic.
Renegade reminded Rampage about the meal in front of him. Considering Ren was likewise distracted the quilled wolf did go back to his rabbit. Still curiously watching Ren for a response but no reason he couldn’t chew and listen.

As Renegade mentioned his brother’s meal the other man went back to it. Though not before he gave Renegade a bit of a ribbing about his age. Neither of them were even middle age yet, so it was quite the insult. Still, Ren took it in stride. "Maybe, but it’s more like I’ve been travelling a lot. Been all over the place looking for good herbs.” He knew he didn’t have to make excuses for himself but he did anyway.
His brother’s attention was off of him for a brief moment so Ren took the opportunity to go after his boneset. Loping over to the patch he began to carefully harvest the delicate leaves from the plant. They were far from blooming, and he guessed they were doing their best to be dormant. He’d have to be gentle in his taking so he didn’t damage them so much they wouldn't recover in the spring.
Once he had finished he returned to Ram’s side, giving his meal a second glance. "Hey, Ram. That rabbit doesn’t have any extra fat on it that I could take off your paws?” He knew it wasn’t likely but it was more handy than trying to catch one of the ducks on the lake.

A lot of traveling huh? Well, Ram could appreciate his brother also having a desire to roam. Ram hadn’t personally been searching for herbs like his brother but regardless, traveling was an experience.
Ren was playing with the plants so Ram focused on his food. One rabbit is hardly a long meal but he was also in no hurry. When Ram asked about the fat Ram grinned, “you wouldn’t expect so right? This rabbit though, up until today he must have done alright for himself. Positively chunky fellow. Help yourself.” Admittedly, being a rabbit and one that Ram had been eating there wasn’t much fat there but sure enough there was some to still be found.
