A Gift, My Daughter

It wouldn't be long now, as scheduled, Eros would be arriving sometime today to check on her mother, bringing a small meal and the usual dose of medication she took. It was quite troublesome, unable to move around as much as she pleased, enjoy the thrill of a hunt, the adrenaline pumping through the body. She missed it, and prayed to her gods that she would be able to regain that strength soon. But perhaps this was happening for a reason, an obstacle they were putting her through. She needed to experience weakness in order to gain the power their family wanted, needed to continue on and dominate others. Yes, that had to be it.

For the moment Selene lay curled up in her den, hidden within the forest that surrounded the lake. So far she had gone unnoticed by other wolves, lucky for them, for even if she was ill, she wouldn't let them take advantage of her. The very idea caused a smirk to form, her tail sweeping over the gift that lay hidden behind her. She was going to reward her daughter for dealing with the goddess, she deserved it.
