This is for: Epiphron, Chrysanthe, Collision, Leon, Preston, Syrinx, and any other Adravendis, also warriors in Valhalla may come. I've forgotten, set after Neo has disappeared. I also intend for this to be a pretty rapid fire thread. You don't all have to come, this is not mandatory, posts may remain short and well-kept.

Quote:

It had been a few days since Cairo had even seen his son, Neo. The boy had disappeared after the chat they had together, and it struck a note of fear in the lord's chest. Cairo had said nothing wrong? Promoted the boy's enthusiasm, told him he loved him, and let him think on his own about what he wanted. Swallowing back a bit the arkhos slowed his pace and dropped his haunches to the ground. Raising his head to the heavens he let out a gentle call for the Adravendis of Valhalla.

He simply needed to know of what had sparked such an upset in the boy and perhaps with that information he would have the viable ideas to see what needed to be done. Throwing his gaze to the side the canine fell silent and waited for them all to come.

The man walked through Valhalla placidly, finding nothing out of the ordinary during his first circuit of the borders. Pacing had become a regular part of his day, but it was organized and scheduled, not just haphazard walking. Every inch of Valhalla was surveyed on a daily basis as was the regimen he had assigned himself. It was tiresome work, but it left him feeling fulfilled when he was through. On his second sweep that took him to the insides of Valhalla rather than the border, a howl rang out, perking his curiosity. His uncle had called out. Collision had taken a leave, and he supposed Cairo was summoning in his stead. What business would this meeting address? A quick lope was taken up as the man darted for his uncle, unwilling to keep the Adravendi patriarch waiting too long. Uncle, it is good to see you. A declination of his head was given as he settled a few feet in front of Cairo, and just a bit to the left. Tail curled around his haunch, and cerulean eyes set on his uncle.

OOC: Leave it to me to write short posts in long threads and long posts in short threads.

He was on another excursion, this time in one of the many rivers that made up Valhalla. He paddled noisily in the stream and dunked his head under every so often, pretending he was a duck. He loved birds, Neo hated them for some reason. He thought the only thing they were good for was eating, but Preston saw beauty in all things, regardless of how big or small. He admired the glimmer of beetle wings and the silent styles of the owls, he saw the lucid movements in deer that made them seem almost fluid like to him, but most of all he loved clouds. He could stare at them for hours, picking out shapes and objects in their puffy abstract forms. Neo thought it was a waste of time, but he had learned by now that Neo was hardly ever right. Now that his brother had crossed his mind, he realized it had been some time since he'd seen him. Could something have happened? He didn't doubt it. That boy had a habit of getting into trouble. The sudden call interrupted his musings, causing him to stand in the knee high river. Their father was calling.

Without hesitation he ran to the rocky bank and shook himself dry before darting off into the woods, following the call. Before long he had reached the designated meeting point, and bowed his head to his cousin and his father respectively. "Father, what troubles you?" The steel colored wolf asked. Cairo didn't send out calls for any small occurrence, something was wrong. If he needed to speak to his cubs he would simply appear to them one by one, the way he always seemed to do. That was always something that puzzled him about Cairo. He always seemed to be around when he was most needed, and was always there to help. He just appeared, seemingly out of thin air, sensing disturbances in his family and mending them however he could. Truly he was a great man.

Worry stoked her temper, worry brought out the primal side of her nature. She always kept an eye out for Cairo?s children. Always was aware of what went on. She was aware of the strife between Neo and his siblings that were born to Cairo. And now, Neo was missing. He had been missing for several days. She had found his most recent scent trail. It led out of the borders. She needed to find Cairo.

She snarled and spun from her point at the border and started to lift her head, when he sang first. Well. Here was her chance. Some of the temper from her worry and heat cycle dampened. Cairo would know what to do. She took off at a gallop.

It took little time for her to reach his location. Preston was there, Leon was as well. Cairo was there as well, and he looked worried as well. ?Cairo, have you seen Neo? I can?t find him anywhere within the borders. The only trace I could find was leaving the borders.? Her temper had left, and in her wash of mood swings, genuine worry lined her face.

Her father's summons was not something that she would ever ignore. The girl changed her course, shifting from following the borders and going on patrol to following the sound of his voice. Leon, Preston and Erani were already there, and her eyes followed the female as she stepped up to Cairo. It seemed that she was worried, worried about where Neo had gone. The red faced girl had seen him at the latest meeting, but after that she hadn't run into hide nor hair of him. It had been a few days since then... where had he gone? Why hadn't her step brother come home?

Chrysanthe wondered idly whether he had run away. She would have blamed she and Epiphron for his absence, assuming that he hadn't been able to take their teasing and ran off... but that had been back when Valhalla had first formed again. She hadn't gotten the chance to speak to the brute since then. Had... he let their words fester for so long? The girl wasn't sure whether or not to feel bad quite yet. Her eyes flicked to Preston then, if anyone knew where Neo was, then it would be him.

Another meeting so soon? Her father had her attention the moment his call ran out over the land. Without hesitation the female loped towards the small gathering, this time much closer than she was during the last meeting that Collision had called. Her head was held proudly on slender shoulders, a small smile gracing her lips as her aging father came into view.

The last time she had seen Cairo she had ran forward and nuzzled into the older male's neck without shame. This time, she simply approached him with a bit more composure, tenderly pressing her nose into her father's neck. Almost immediately Erani voiced her own concerns, and Epiphron turned to face her. She hadn't seen Neo in many days, but assumed her adoptive brother had simply been avoiding her. Had nobody else seen him?

Curiousity lined her delicate features as she wondered if this was the reaosn Cairo had called his family together. It was Neo that had approached them after all, throwing a fit over not getting a rank. She had simply tried to point out how ridiculous he was being, but had her words really hurt that badly? Neo seemed untouchable, constantly brimming with anger and passion, though his passion was never directed towards things that she would consider productive. The princess really had a hard time imagining that Neo had been so upset at what Epiphron had considered inevitable sibling rivalry that he had left Valhalla altogether? Instead of admitting anything, she kept her jaws clenched shut, eyes drifting from one wolf to the other in simple curiousity.

The russet heir would approach the meeting as quickly as he could, dipping his head in apology for being late the brute would settle his body nearest Epiphron. Attempting to touch his nose to her shoulder he would nod to his father and allow him to ask whatever it was they had been called for. Tail drifting around his legs the red male would look around. Collision was off in Glaciem...but where was Neo? Eos was also still off doing whatever, which honestly irked him, he missed her a whole heck of a lot, and he couldn't even find her. Even their father feared the worst in that situation.

The brunette king would wait for his family to arrive, and as they did, he would note Collision had clearly taken an early leave to Glaciem.Well, it was probably for the best. Alleviating a bit of stress, for the moment, from the male's mind would be a good thing. Crowded around them he would feel his worst assumptions consume him. A huff leaving his lungs the arkhos would turn his head towards the ground, "Before it was a suspicion, now I am aware, Neo is gone," He really didn't know where
the boy had run off to, but that fact of the matter was, something had clearly happened beyond what he and his son had spoken about, and he needed to know what mindset Neo was in.

Did anything in particular happen? Is he out on a hunt, I need some information guys," His eyes flickered from each of them individually. Tail brushing to the side along his hock, he was a bit perturbed. It was not the first adopted child he had lost, granted he knew the others to be dead, even so, without confirmation on the fact, there was a burden unlike any other. Why had Cairo failed the boy? Was it he who had driven him away? Cairo had offered nothing but the best for the little man, and it seemed as though none of it mattered.

Cairo's words confirmed her worst fears; the gentle teasing had seemingly driven Neo away from Valhalla. No, it wasn't just the words that she had Chrysanthe had spoken, but it was something that had been growing inside him for longer than any of them realized. Had they been ignoring it, or had Neo finally just had enough of feeling like an outcast?

Epiphron still wouldn't take credit for her adoptive brother's departure. She had done nothing but love him unconditionally, but as he pulled himself away from all of the siblings, she had realized she could do nothing to win back his loyalty. Bit by bit he'd distanced himself, to the point where even Epiphron would no longer fight for him.

"I did have a discussion with him the other day," she confessed, though her posture was steadfast as she watched Cario with an serious expression. "I don't think he's felt included in the family for a long time, father, despite all our best efforts." She would not take the blame for his disappearance. She'd spent much time teasing all of her siblings, and they had returned the favor -- some slight sibling rivalry was natural, was it not? "I think the fact that he wasn't given a higher rank pushed him over the edge. He seemed very bitter when I last saw him. Said some pretty hard things."
