Or so hideous

He stumbled on the raised roots of the willows as he wandered. Three legs made balance hard and often times he found his footing uneven. Especially now. Some runner he was, a three legged monster barely capable of navigating through willow trees. Fireflies buzzed around his muzzle, a pleasant sight for a wretched creature like him. All around him he heard the sounds of nature. Of nightingales singing to the moon, of dragonflies buzzing about the shallow water, once or twice he saw river crab scuttle away from him for fear of getting crushed. Truly it was a magical place, but what a shame that he had to enjoy it alone. Helen would have loved it. A sobering thought. He could imagine her laying against his plush, furry chest as they watched the fireflies, both of them smiling and happy. Only a dream now. Only a dream. He was alone. And his "plush" fur was gone. His hips fell to the ground with a soft thump. He needed to regain his composure. He needed to keep moving. He needed to leave this place of beauty where he did not belong.

The heart break of Pontifex's disappearance was hurtful. She knew not what became of him, and she wasn't quite sure why she was hurting so much. She knew she had been falling for him, but she hadn't expected for that to begin so quickly. Since their first encounter, Pacifica had fallen for the grey warrior. Though it was unclear why, and now she found herself traversing the lands to try and rid herself of the ache. She didn't understand. They were never mates, and the thought of them ever being as such brought the girl nearly to her knees. She had worried about him endlessly since he took to the war, and yet here she was. Hope of his return gone. She should have expected as much...and though it was her first attachment to someone, she couldn't help but feel like a part of her was lost.

She stopped, silvery grey features sulky as she checked to see where she was. Sky blue eyes noting the area, a place she had been to before though not often. She took a deep breath to steady herself, trying to calm and chase the tears that threatened to water her eyes. She didn't want to cry, and she didn't understand why she felt like doing so. Moving on, she would soon catch a scent, unfamiliar and strange. Someone she had not come across before, but then again, there were many that she had never met. She was mostly in her den, waiting for the return of someone whose probably never felt the same as she did. The idea of that, was laughable.

The willows bent and swayed gently with the wind, fireflies began to make appearances, dancing and sparkling all around her. The area dark enough to see them clearly, and they always fascinated her. Her attention was nearly drawn completely towards them, and she would nearly stumble over the stranger that was sitting in front of her. Upon notice, Pacifica stumbled to a halt, embarrassed that she had nearly not noticed him. "I apologize sir, I did not realize you were there.." the lights of the fireflies danced around them, and as they hovered overhead she noticed his form. Disfigured, a leg missing, something she had never seen before. Her eyes grew wide, taking in his form. What had happened to him?
