Green is not a creative color

The ivory cloaked woman traveled her way unknowingly towards The Red Forest. Many game trails appeared and disappeared underneath the darkened cover of the trees, but none were very fresh. Too many were days old or even older. As she traveled on further, she came upon the scent of a pack intertwined within the trees. Slowing her movements, she stayed clear of the potent border. It was dangerous to get too close to a pack's borders especially if they were more protective than usual. Knowing that spring was going to seize anytime now, she wasn't going to miss this chance to be apart of something and gain some security. She settled herself down to patiently wait for someone to pass by and scent her presence instead of howling for the pack itself. It was rude to rush when you're the beggar.

She had no idea whether this pack was nice or kind. She honestly didn't care. She had handled terrible packs in the past and so she knew she would fit in. She was a bit out of practice in fighting though. She knew that Summer was a dangerous season. At least, that was how she saw it.

Home. He had once known this place as home, but it had been taken from him -- and now he was here, once again. Deteste had given him power, so blindly and freely, and at first Basilisk wondered if he might abuse it. If his need for control and for dominance would leave him powerless to his own desires and his heart. But instead, he felt his new position ground him slightly; calm his restless soul. Give him something to focus his energy on.

And what he needed to do was to meet the wolves that Detested ruled. To gain their trust and respect. But it was not an easy feat to trust them as easily as he expected them to trust him. He was guarded and unsure, his demeanor often wavering somewhere in the middle, never quite nice but never unpleasant either. There was no black & white for Basilisk, only an uncomfortable shade of grey, painting his vision and his world.

But the scent of a stranger would arrest him from his thoughts and he would lift his head, sniffing at the wind. A female. Not of Tortuga. Her scent lacked affiliation. He would head toward the scent, ears tipping forward as the white-furred woman impinged on his vision.

"You have a reason for being here," he called out simply, wondering if she might elaborate. The massive male's eyes would narrow as he watched her, pulling himself closer slowly.

As she sat in waiting, her fiery eyes gazed the perimeter of her surroundings. However, Ivy was in luck and she didn't need to wait long before she heard the crunching of the snow coming from the direction of the borders. Her fiery gaze searched the cedars for any recognizable formation within the darkened shadows and it was then when the slender form of another escaped the shadows and approached. Instinct quickly followed at the sight of the brute's dominant stance, her body stiffened and sunk down towards the ground. With her belly grazing the snow covered ground, tail curling under her white thigh, ears flat against her skull and her fiery eyes averted from the pack wolf before her, she waited for tooth, claw, or words to follow. But, none came.

Silence enveloped around them with the stalemate occurring between them. Neither were making the first move, so Ivy took the chance to introduce herself. Triangular ears flicked forward before flattening once again in a moment of hesitation before she actually spoke. "I am Ivy. I have come here to seek family and a pack to pledge my allegiance to," she said gracefully, her gaze only rising to the man's chest. She wasn't sure who she was talking to, whether the man be a leader or just a subordinate, but Ivy was going to treat him with the respect that he deserved from a lone wolf like her.

Despite his neutral expression, his dominant poise masked the unsureness that lingered permanently in his chest. Consuming his mind. He wanted revenge for the life that had been taken from him, he wanted to paint the world with the blood of the woman that had taken his father from him -- and yet fear kept him from acting. Subduing him into a composed state. Never would he have thought he would be helping rule a pack. Why Deteste trusted him, Basilisk still was not sure.

His strange purple gaze, vibrant and yet cold as ice, took in the stranger's appearance as he shifted forward. The trees stood tall around them, looming like giants, mocking them with their size and ferocity. And yet the stranger seemed to bow to him, moving to press her stomach to the earth, submitting to him. It was a strange feeling, and he felt a surge of adrenaline flood his veins. Silence would reign over the duo for a long, long moment as he observed her. Much could be determined from a creature's appearance -- but not everything.

He was wary even as he took a few more steps toward her, head tilting slightly to the side. "What do you seek in a family? And what will you contribute?" he would inquiry thoughtfully, though his tones were calculated and somewhat cold. If she wanted friendship and love and all that, she would be disappointed here. But strength and respect and control were things Tortuga could offer her. "I am Basilisk Saxe, Dignitary of Tortuga."
