His rather soft black fur worked its way towards the forest he saw up ahead until the scent of a pack put him in a standstill. This would mess up his plans and he saw the exciting light for adventure leave his eyes. He had been hoping to cross through in the search of a pack as strict as he wished them to be. He had searched mercilessly for almost six months but to no avail. He wasn't sure he would find what he sought at the borders until he thought he saw the faint scents of blood at the borders. A small smile graced him as he realized it had been a punishment. He didn't realize he had imagined the red specks of blood on the dirt. They weren't there.

The darkness that surrounded him made him feel at home. His ebony fur would blend in nicely and he could observe before acting as he so often did. Perhaps this pack was right for him. The only issue was convincing a wolf of importance that his place was with them. He didn't even know the name of the pack but a whisper in the wind told him it would be a pretty cool name. He raised his gray flecked muzzle into the air as he had done at other borders before and let out a long, crisp howl for the alpha or leader of the group. He stood at a respectful distance from the edge of the forest and the border. His breathing was steady which managed to keep his heart rate at a respectful pace. The smile that had graced his lips soon faded as he stood in a strong and confident looking manner.

His eyes held a stone cold glance as he blocked out all warmth that might come. If he were to impress this pack he would have to be emotionless. That was the most crucial part of being a pack wolf was to not show emotion in the line of work. This was dangerous, showing emotion wasn?t what the leaders wanted. The leaders wanted to get the job done. That was it. That was the goal.
