He had always hated the water, had even refused to move with the pack when he had heard that they had moved to the island after the war. But today he needed to do this. This was the only place he could find the blue birds he was looking for. And so he swam beside Odette, watching her carefully just in case at any point she became fatigued, legs churning the water expertly. He had always been a rather strong swimmer but it was those around him that worried him. Two mates had drowned now. His first daughter had also almost been claimed by the flood waters. And though the ocean was a bit more predictable and the day was nice he was still worried. He didn't want anything to happen to Odette while he was on watch. So as his legs touched the sand bottom he would slow and allow her to move ahead, shaking the water from his pelt while still knee deep in water rather then waiting until he was out and showering Odette. "So? i want to propose to Eria, I want her to be my mate and I want to get her something special and unique. I figured maybe we could find a tropical blue bird with big feathers and take two of those home for her. You up for the challenge?" Eyebrow would raise easily, sly smile sliding over his features. They would probably end up having to work together but for now he could enjoy goading her into a competition.

The swim to the island was not as challenging as those from the past. Odette had travelled from her home island to the mainland more times than she could count. Each journey made her stronger and more tolerant with the salt water that could take her very life. Fortunately, she had the muscles Gargoyle had when he was younger, and she used them to her advantage. With a companion this time, Odette felt a bit more secure. While she enjoyed the time alone in her travels, having someone with her made the time pass by faster. She noted how Friction tossed her glances every few minutes as they swam and she didn't mind. The stories of his two former mates around water were not ones she knew about, but nevertheless, she assumed that he wasn't very fond of the stuff. She only smiled at him and continued to swim with her head above the surface. Once they reached the shore, Odette's paws pressed into the sand beneath the water. She took the required steps to rise above the shallow waters and shook herself free of any extra drops. An itch suddenly overcame her and she roughly planted herself on the dry sand to scratch behind her right ear. With her left ear, she freely listened to Friction as he spoke of his reasons for coming to the island. When he mentioned a challenge, she stopped in the middle of her scratching and looked at him. Her leg remained hinged in midair and she snorted at him as she moved to stand to all fours. "Up for the challenge? Friction--" She made herself taller, her head rising to its appropriate level as she gave an air of pride. "Do you know who I am? Do you know who my parents were?" She raised an eyebrow to him, for her feathers were definitely ruffled...in a playful sense. "I am the great Odette Adravendi! Daughter of Ocena, Gargoyle, aaaaand Chrysanthe Adravendi!! A challenge is what I look forward to every day. You, sir, have blessed me with this honor! I condone you to carry it out alongside me!" Odette shook herself all over once again, although this time, more drops escaped the grips of her fur. "Your wonderful Eria shall have her engagement present and you, Friction Sovari, will have your one and only, by your side, wearing it for the rest of both of your days! We will make it happen!" A triumphant grin appeared on her face and she sharply turned to face the jungle that stretched in front of them. "Let us get some feathers! Rawr!" With that, she started towards the forestry, eager to see what they would rustle up. "Speech"
