hiding in plain sight

Hati
He'd been spending most of his time lately in the forest. Hiding in the mist and moping, truth be told, though he didn't even admit that to himself. He didn't hide, and he didn't mope. But Hati had finally dragged himself reluctantly from the foggy confines of the pack's forest land, though he'd not gone far, instead making his way to the only other territory the pack claimed. His baleful yellow eyes surveyed the river uncaringly; he was no fisher, and the weather had cooled to the point that he no longer felt the need to swim to keep from overheating. Judging by the scent in the air, some of his packmates were around, or at least had been recently, but Hati ignored them. Socializing was never high on his list of things to do, and in the brooding mood he was in Hati was in no way interested in the idea of seeking out company today. He slumped grouchily near the edge of the river, glaring at it as though the moving water were the reason for his moodiness.

She clung to the darkness, or rather the darkness had clung to her. She found comfort within them, she was often well hidden when it came to witnessing another. It wasnt always bad though, seeing as she sometimes found out things that should never be learnt, to twist and to be used against them in the near future. But today she found no joy of being tucked away, silence surrounded her; which left the question- whats the point in 'hiding' if theirs nothing to hide from? It had become clear Meinx wasnt very social, and liked to be in her own company. She would stand, moving her large mass into the opening light, the slight warmth pressing against her body. Oceanic gaze would look upon the man that looked just as bored and lifeless and she. Like a tame zombie, there but not really acknowledging. " You seem as joyful as i." She would break the silence that clung between them as she approached into view. Sitting from afar. Feeling no need to be in close contact, or atleast not yet.
Meinx has no nose and heavy scarring on the top of the muzzle. Some tables may not show this.

Hati
It seemed his lone brooding would not be allowed to continue, for it was interrupted by a female voice as it cracked the silence. His back stiffened, but for the moment he made no reply, though he let his head swivel to bring her into his gaze. He'd neither heard nor scented her approach, though that was not hard to believe as he'd been quite caught up in his own thoughts. Paws flexed in the dirt as he stared at her. One of the yearlings who had been given rank - ranking higher than his even, though Hati certainly had no interest in her job. Talking, and politics. Advising. He was much more comfortable where he was, where he could revel in broken bones and bloody body, where his rage and pain fit in instead of made him a liability. Yes, he would not be in her position for the world... but it still chafed that a child was supposed to outrank him.
As to what she'd said... Of course he wasn't joyful. The closest he came to joy was during a fight, when his rage could slip the leash and overwhelm pain and emotions, and burn away memory. His breath huffed between his teeth, half harsh laugh and half irritation. "Joyful enough. I haven't killed anyone yet."
