ooc;; not sure who is in charge, would love if roman could come though :)

Funny how much Tortuga had changed through the years. Once she had been so blindly faithful to this pack, so ready to throw down her life for it and now what. It had moved, changed hands and though the name still remained the same what was the same? Absolutely nothing? She had been ready to fight and die for this pack but now as she sat at the boarders beside her little bundle of goodies she really felt nothing. Was that because she had moved on to a new family and a new pack or was that because Morphine and Nnoitra were no longer here? She couldn't tell. But it was time to move on, time to find new things. So head would tip back, calling for their alpha or whoever might be able to come and see her. She really didn't care as long as they were able to bargain a bit with her. She had done most of the leg work after all. Though in the pack of her mind she did recognize that Cat's information had from originally from Tortuga. Maybe she could cut them a break.

Even near death, she apparently wasn't going to get any rest. The calls that seemed to echo around her borders were relentless. She knew Qanik was busy, the poor legionary- had to take on the burden of the pack. The least Roman could do was answer a few calls. Dragging herself from her den, she cursed and grumbled approached the border, she'd been out this morning already to wash her face clear of blood, at least she wasn't unattractive. Walking stiffly, through the forest- she approached the border stopping safely nestled in the trees for a few moments, her violet eyes on a red colored woman. Taking a breath, she'd emerge from the shadows, approaching as gracefully as she could manage, she wouldn't show weakness- rather strength. Halting just at her border, her right ear flicked before she spoke. "I am Roman Armada, what brings you to my borders?" Her tone was neutral- she had no reason to be aggressive, even if she was annoyed to be woken up again, this other wolf had no reason to drawn that annoyance from her, yet. The question was.. what did she want?

ooc:: Other Tortugan's are of course welcome.

The waits were never long, but for once a sick wolf would approach. Though her cheeks were clear of dried blood every so often a new drop would trickle and topple to the ground. This was the pack who had supplied them with a base, a foundation to start their guessing on. This was the pack that had started it all. The woman introduced herself as Roman and Vi tipped her head easily in greeting. "A pleasure Roman. I am Viridiana, Queen of Covari. I have come to return the favour you did for us unknowingly." She said, reaching into her leaf and retrieving a bundle of herbs which she would place on the ground between them before straightening once more. "Consider it a peace offering. Alfalfa, horsetail and valerian root. I believe it is the cure. We are also allies with Arcanum, they shared your knowledge and good fortune with us and I am here to return the favour. Please. Eat some." Vi would once again lean forward, sifting the herbs with her nose until she had a smaller dosage sectioned out for the queen to eat should she choose while leaving some for the rest of her pack.

When the call came, Qanik hadn't been precisely busy so much as she'd been consulting with one of the healers - the strange one-eyed wolf named Shay - or rather listening to his strangely monotone voice chattering on with what she assumed was excitement about what he thought might have caused the disease and such. She didn't see how it really mattered, what she wanted was a way to get rid of it, not a lesson on how it may have evolved. So when the call came she took the opportunity gratefully to excuse herself - as gracefully as she could - from the wolf's presence and head for the border.

To her surprise, she caught sight of Roman approaching another female she didn't recognize. And she knew she'd have recognized her if she'd ever seen her before, for the wolf was the brightest red she'd ever seen on any animal other than a bird. The herbs Elli came up with must have been helping a bit if she was on her feet now.

The blue-eyed ghost moved up beside her, a few steps back so her head was at Roman's shoulder, silently offering support without making Roman look weakened. The woman had offered herbs, saying as Qanik had come into earshot that it was intended as a peace offering, and Qanik regarded them neutrally.

She didn't trust them, of course. Poisoning an alpha - or a whole pack - would be a very convenient way of defeating them without battle. Though, in their current state Tortuga may not be capable of putting up much of a fight anyway. The red woman had named the herbs, but Qanik knew little about them and could not even tell them apart, and she wasn't sure Roman knew any more. She sent Roman a questioning glance - was she lucid enough to realize the danger? Or at least lucid enough to realize she might not be capable of making a good decision?

For now she remained silent, simply studying the red woman with an expression measuring and carefully neutral. Her doubts would drastically upset what was possibly a diplomatic situation, and that was the last thing Tortuga needed right now.

The bright red woman was an interesting looking one, but Roman new that looks only told part of a wolf's story. She wouldn't waste Roman's time- introducing herself as Viridiana the Queen of Covari. A pack Roman hadn't heard of. Viridiana spoke about a favor Tortuga had unknowingly given, and Roman's eyes narrowed slightly. She would talk about herbs, and Roman's ears would flatten slightly. The only way this crimson woman could know about the "cure" was if she had been the one to poison them. Disdainfully, Roman glanced at the herbs, her ear flicking in recognition as Qanik appeared at her side. Levelly, she would gaze at the Queen, a wolf she had no prior dealings with and no reason to trust. "Why should I trust you? What you say is the cure, could easily be the same poison, I'm already infected with. Perhaps you're only trying to make it worse?" She chose her words carefully- trying to minimize who was affected in the pack. It wouldn't do well for this stranger to think Tortuga was weak. Her tone was light, but firm. She had every reason to be suspicious of this wolf's motives. Hadn't she learned earlier in life that nothing was free?

Elli had worked hard- and found most of the cure herself. Roman remembered Qanik ordering Gossamir, their only other healer, to share with the allies, what they had found, if anyone else was infected, a decision that Roman would agree with. Roman couldn't help but feel slightly offended though that now some stranger, had waltzed to her borders- claiming that they had the cure. 'Returning the favor' as Viridiana had called it. Thinking for a moment, Roman tilted her head back- a long call leaving her for one of their wolves. Gossamir. Turning her attention back to the russet queen, she'd speak. "One of my healers will be here shortly to gauge the truth in words you speak. She can tell us if we should trust these herbs- or if they are indeed, poison." Her tone was still very neutral, and she reclined to her haunches, glancing at Qanik, before fixing her violet gaze on the other Queen again.

A wise leader listened to advice from council, didn't they?

Gossamir was resting in her den after her long travels. She'd spread the word to their allies who would in turn likely spread it to their allies. Maybe together they could find a cure but in the meantime Gossamir was content to rest, curled up in her den. However, she was not taken to rest long when a call rang out. Roman? Brilliant Sapphire eyes opened as her head turned to the direction of the call, ears forward and alert. She would not make her queen wait.

Taking to her paws she journeyed down along the edge of the waterfall and to a gathering of wolves. Roman and Qanik were there as well as a vibrantly red stranger. Moving up beside the two pale faes she spoke. "You called me Lady Roman?"

Funny, she hadn't really thought she might be greeted with suspicion and distrust but here she was, standing before the woman as she spat out questions and accusations. All Vi could do was smile. Another would arrive and slowly Vi would bend and gather up the herbs she had offered, picking them up and placing them back within her leaf without responding to the woman. Once finished Vi would stand, shaking out her pelt before lifting her shoulders in a lazy shrug. If they didn't want her help well. Fuck them too. This could be the one pack who didn't offer her help. Vi could keep her herbs for just in case the sickness came back this winter. Their dwindling herb supply had taken quite the hit from this stupid sickness.

As Roman howled Vi just chuckled, shaking her head slowly. "No. I don't care to wait. I'll take my herbs and carry on. Hopefully you have enough for you pack. Just tell your healer what I suggested. Good day." tone was present but there was a certain flipped quality to her tone as she reached down to pick up her leaf, folding up the sides so she could carry it. Another would arrive but Vi really paid her no mind, simply smiling and nodding in her direction before turning and heading off. She had more packs to visit, more wolves to cure. If they didn't want her help she didn't need to give it beyond what she had already done.

Qanik

in defense of the innocent

Roman, it seemed, was as suspicious of the red woman's motives as Qanik was. Maybe even more so, judging by the words that spilled forth, basically accusing the woman of poisoning them to begin with. Poison? Qanik regarded Roman with concern; did the alpha really believe them to have poison? The healers seemed to think it was some form of disease.

The woman reacted quite unlike what Qanik had expected. Rather than greeting the accusations with anger or... really anything, she had simply taken the herbs back into her holding and, upon Roman's calling for Gossamir, simply announced that she was leaving, and did so. Qanik hesitated between calling her back and letting her go, glancing uncertainly at Roman. No, she wouldn't contradict Roman - she'd let her decide what to do. Instead she turned to Gossamir.

"What do you know about the herbs alfalfa, horsetail, and valerian root when used together by mouth?" she murmured to the girl. If anyone in their pack knew and could recognize poisons, it would be Gossamir.

Someone was conspiring to kill her.

Whether it was Viridiana or another- she wasn't sure who to trust. Well, she wasn't going to die that easily. Her violet eyes narrowed as the other she-wolf spoke, though she didn't say anything. This other "queen" seemed so smug- so... arrogant, even though her arrogance lacked the finesse that her father, and many of her siblings had. She watched as the other woman turned and left, just as Gossamir arrived. Internally, Roman scoffed- though she was sick and slightly delirious, she didn't really like her first impression of this other "Queen". She seemed stuck-up, and most likely a strong culprit in the case of who poisoned her, and her pack. Would a non-guilty wolf defend themselves? Only a guilty wolf, would just smile and waltz away. Anger seethed inside of her, as she watched the russet woman leave, and Roman turned towards the two wolves left at the border. She looked at Gossamir, as Qanik questioned her- though she wasn't paying much attention. Her fever was rising, and it wasn't helping her temper that was now boiling. "I don't trust her." She said, glancing at Qanik, then at Gossamir. "Are they poisons?" She asked, - staring at the younger wolf.

Elli had been careful to track where all the sick was and she looked like crap, devoting all her time into trying to find a cure for the wicked disease that had taken to some of the wolves in the night. She was surprised that she was not sick herself after spending so much time in close proximity. She had noticed a call for Roman and she hoped it was something she could use. It would not hurt to show up at the very least. The woman rushed only to find herself beaten by the sick Roman. Oh no. Nothing is working. NOTHING IS WORKING! The Horsetail and Alfalfa made them a little better but they never recovered.

When she arrived at the borders she found a few of the packmates standing there as healthy as could be and then there were the sick. "Do you have news? Qanik? Is there a scent of Valerian Root or is it just me? What happened?" She asked with that desperate and torn look in her eye. She needed to get the pack better so she could move on and so could the rest of them. With that she started to cough and slowly blood started to drip from her eyes.

She had caught the epidemic.

Gossamir looked between the strange red femme and back to Roman as she was given her instructions. The young femme caught up quickly. This was meant to be some sort of cure for the plague? but it was true if the alpha was not an ally she could easily poison any fool with their heart and mind pinned to their sleeve. Gossamir nodded and reviewed the ingredients. A master of poisons, trained young, she excelled in the deadly as well as the side effects of most plants. She'd only recently begun to learn how to actually heal with them.

"The alfalfa should be fine, it's a mild herb. The only harm large doses of that will cause is to a fetus. Same with the horsetail. It's pretty harmless, can't imagine what you'd use it for. Large doses of valerian root can upset or damage the stomach but that amount should be fine for a single wolf. Kind of a curious cure but worth a shot."

It was then Elli was on the scene, muttering and... bleeding? SHIT! Gossamir snatched up the herbs, enough for one as the red queen had taken the rest with her, and raced over to Elli. "Ellisandra, quick eat these!" Her heart was racing, praying that Elli could get the herbs down before a rage attack or seizures."
