The man streaked across the grass, his shadow outlined against the green. The sun was rising fast, and he would not want to waste such valuable daylight. He was on a quest, an adventure, a mission. Many words could describe what he was doing or where he was going, but Dusk kept to the simplest answer. Freedom. It had been a word he had grown to. He never knew what it was as a pup, or what it meant. He never experienced freedom. Rather the opposite. Rather betrayal. But his left behind life is gone forever, surely shattered by his emotions and feelings. But they were memories. What can erase memories? That, he did not know. But all that was left beside the creeping thoughts, was his emptiness.

A day was dawning, grass was waking up with him. He came across flowers here and there, but he wasn't one who wastes time to smell the roses. Bees were buzzing, dragonflies and butterflies dancing with speed and color. They seemed so free and peaceful. Dew clung to every stem of grass, only to find his paws wet every time he took a step. A chill passed through him, oh how he hated the winter wind, and the thawing snow was probably what caused his wet feet. But he wasn't one to argue with nature, he was alive and well, that was all that mattered. There were more things that mattered to him, but those things were far out of reach, and he could only pray they were safe and well.

He really could get lost in these vast plains, how empty they seemed. No other wolves were in sight, it was just Dusk, and his thoughts. His belly growled with hunger. He sent an urgent message to his hunger. He had eaten the night before, surely he couldn't be craving again for food?
But when he stopped to think, he remembered his thirst. He had a sudden urge to plunge into a creek. Picking up his speed he panted across the plains, hoping to find a creek to fulfill his quench. Feasting his eyes on a medium sized stream, he plunged into the water. The icy water chills him up to his spine, what a fool he was. Taking a sip, his ears pricked. Had someone seen his pup-like acts?

She had traveled to the mainland with her family, having left behind the only life they knew upon the island where they were born. She had never been off of it until recently, a year of solitude. The only contact she had with others were of her family, her aunt Sibelle, and her marine companion who lived in the ocean. The girl was almost full grown, her stature tall and lithe with perhaps just a couple more inches to achieve until she reached her maximum height of thirty-eight inches. She had yet to develop her muscle completely, for now her body mostly comprised of the femininity that would make her a beauty unmatched in the lands. Her mixed pelt of cobalt, gold, and silvery ashen grey was only matched by her siblings. Silken soft fur always kept pristine, for she hated being dirty. Today, she had just finished grooming herself the moment she had woken up. And was now out and about, exploring nearby lands that she had yet to step foot upon.

Things were vastly different here then at the island. There was alot of ground to cover, trees and grass and endless sky everywhere. It was overwhelming for her, but the babe would not falter from her curiosity. The fae had traveled quite a ways, the morning cool with winter's kiss. It was her first winter as a yearling, and it was slightly warmer on the mainland then it had been on her isolated island. Perhaps because she was not surrounded by so much water? Speaking of which...the babe came across a creek. She would follow it, stopping at certain intervals to take a drink before pressing on. Deep blue gaze would watch her surroundings, for she knew not what dangers lurked around these parts. Her island was safe, danger was extinct. But here? Who knew.

A sudden sound would cause her to stop in her tracks, head and tail rising as she stood at her full height, ears at attention to detect where the sound had come from. Of course, she could hear the all too familiar sounds of splashing. For it was her childhood pastime. She would look first one way up the creek, then the other...and there, she would spot a figure splashing about. And curiosity as well as caution would grip the fae. She had never been around other wolves besides her immediate family. But she was all too curious about the world, somewhat naive, and unafraid. She would move forth, approaching with visage and banner high as she showed as much confidence as she could muster, stopping feet from where the male lurked within the water. "You look like you're havin' fun." She would comment in a neutral tone, all the while she fought the urge to keep her tail from wagging even the slightest.

Embarrassment. Embarrassment was what the man seethed with. Shaking his head, he couldn't help but to laugh. The fun was worth it, yet now he had to face his visitor. Letting the last drop of water satisfy his thirst, he slowly turned around, facing the lady that had spoken to him.
"Indeed I am!" He called back to the lady who stood across the bank of the creek. Grinning, he couldn't help but to chuckle after, just to hide his embarrassment.
Dusk, you fool! He cursed in his mind. In his mind, he gave himself a million beatings. How stupid he was. He never talked much in his mind, and now was the perfect time to scold himself. But he would look even more silly if he just stood there, arguing with himself.
He stared down at his paws, longing just to stay in the cool water for just another minute, but he must not keep his visitor waiting. Turning around, the man climbed out of the creek, awkwardly shaking the water off the paws. He let the sun dry him off, yet he rubbed his paws in the grass. He thought for a moment, why was he getting so angry over himself just having fun? Because someone saw him. No, he was glad he had encountered someone throughout his unknown journey. Before the hunger or thirst, he might have collapsed over pure emptiness. He was glad he was not alone. But this stranger he did not know, but perhaps befriend. He gazed into the eyes of the young lady, her golden streaks entwined around her fur shining brightly in the sunlight. Stunning the lady looked, and stupid, he looked.
"Well I do excuse myself for my manner." Dusk dipped his head respectfully, pausing for a second to think how that apology may have been unnecessary. Yet, he continued.
"I am Dusk of the Southern Oaks," He introduced himself quite formerly. "You are...?"
