Novella had never experienced death before. She had parted with family members and experienced the sadness that came with missing them dearly but at the back of her mind she had always known she could always see them again at some point if she had wanted to. This though was completely different, the loss was a permanent one never would she see her nephew again. Poor little Descant had been ill most of his life, never well enough to get out and properly meet his family but the loss was still nothing short of devastating. If it hurt her this much however, she could only imagine how awful Song felt about it.

With Descant ill and Dutiron and Sound both recovering from the epidemic Song had certainly been busy as of late. She may have stepped down from her rank though she still had far too much to do for Novella to really spend too much time with her sister. It was a fact that she had hated and whilst now with Descant's passing Song would have a little more time to spend with the pack, a part of Novella couldn't help but still feel bad about it. All the same though she would make the short trip to Song's den to see her, check how she was doing more than anything else.

She wasn't sure if Song had eaten or would even want to eat though she had managed to catch a rabbit and would bring it with her now as she came to a stop outside of her sister's den. "Song?" She would call out softly, keeping outside just in case Song still didn't wish to be disturbed. She certainly hoped she wouldn't be turned away though.

The pain was worse than she could ever imagine. Losing Cherokee had been horrible, but not so hard as losing Descant. She felt like she'd failed him somehow. She couldn't cure him from his illness and he had lost his life. He was gone forever, and she could do nothing about his disappearance. She would find herself shunning those divine beings that had so carefully guided her. She had begged they spare his life, she had pleaded for his life, and yet he was still gone. She wanted to focus on her still living children, but her heart couldn't pull away from Descant. She'd grown so close to her son, he was so innocent and pure. She felt her heart ripping out for the loss of such a being. He was a loss to the world, not just to her.
She'd hardly felt hungry in the past day, after laying her son to rest she'd lost her appetite. Even the subtle scent of Novella's rabbit would turn her stomach sour. She wouldn't tell her sister that though. Before she knew it the girl was at the entrance of the den, obviously cautious of Song's wishes. A tear would run down her cheek as she moved to release herself from the den. It still smelled of her little boy. "Hello, Novella." Her voice was oddly emotionless, like a cold numbness had taken over the woman. She wouldn't guess what she was here for but she was glad for the gesture of food. "Thank you for thinking of me." She would gesture towards the untouched carcass.

Fortunately it wouldn't take too much persuasion for Song to emerge from her den though the wolf stood before Novella now was simply a shell of her usual self. To be honest although she was trying to make an effort to help her sister, it still only made her feel worse looking at her sister now. Deep down there was a part of the younger Destruction that knew there really wasn't anything that she could do to make the situation any better, just like with the epidemic she found herself feeling useless but knew this time even the greatest healer in the world could never bring back Descant.

Song would correctly guess that the food was for her even without Novella speaking a word. For a moment she stood there some what awkwardly now even less sure what to say with Song before her. Are you ok seemed like a stupid thing to ask but she really couldn't find anything else to say. Actions spoke louder than words sometimes though and so instead she would move suddenly, closing the distance and nuzzling Song in comfort.
