The massive man had gotten used to sleeping in, usually enjoying the way the sun stretched to his giant paws every morning. Sleep was one of his favorite hobbies, something he couldn't go without for very long. Once Song gave birth to Arivae, however, he realized that he would have to learn to juggle both daughter and his long cat naps. That was why whenever he spent a great evening with Arivae, she would become tired and they would curl up together and sleep.
His long nap was too good to be true, for an abrupt noise woke him up. Arivae had woken up before him, causing her energy to be renewed and her thirst for exploring to be her drive. She was consistently yelling his name in excited barks, wanting him to get up and see the day with her. If Garthinaw had been in a bed, he would have rolled over to the other side and thrown his sheet over his head. It couldn't be morning already!
Finally, he gave in and opened his glacier blue eyes. The sleep gunk was still in the crevices of his eyes, but he rubbed them away and softly sighed. The kisses Arivae had left him upon his cheeks and forehead made his fur stick out in various directions, but he didn't notice the changes. So, he rose to all fours and stretched his large muscles. Black fur rippled across his body before he shook himself free of any remaining sleep. He looked down at his daughter and laughed at her personification. She was so smart and didn't realize it yet. "All right, all right," he chuckled, gracefully lowering his head down to nuzzle her small jaw. "Do you want to fly and meet the sun? Or would you rather walk and not let the wind brush your fur?"
