"Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."

Niluna lingered in the darkness of the forests for quite some time. It had not been all that long since she had left her last pack. She knew it would not belong before they tore themselves apart. Her deepest innards ached terribly from the deeds she had done. She was nothing more than a pawn, a spy, and had even been used as an assassin. To her, that served no real purpose and she felt as empty as an abandond den. For the first time she was not hiding in the shadows where she felt safe. For the first time, she was out in the open and she was not sure why. Maybe after such a long time of not being seen, she wanted to be seen. She wanted someone to find her. She wandered out into the frozen fields of these strange lands. She had never been here before and was quite curious as to what all was here. She wanted to know more. Maybe here she would find the answers she so desperately looked for, but before she could do that she had to know what questions she was even trying to answer. She felt so lost, that perhaps she had to be blind. Her instincts even seemed to fail her, but she did not let any of her confusion show. Her face appeared blank, and she displayed no signs of emotion. It was as if emotions were foriegn to her, when in reality she knew them all to well.

She moved so lightly that her paw steps were soundless. If she had been in the forest, spotting her or hearing her would be impossible. Even smelling her would be no easy feat. Elusiveness was her specialty as well as deciet. Mix that with her intelligence and she was a deadly combination. Yet, she could be easily spotted in the field, cold against her paw pads and sending shivers through her bones. She was a black spot in the open pale landscape that was preparing for winter. Her fluffy, ebony coat stood out against the landscape as much as any black wolves in the winter snow. Her mind was as blank as she was empty. She was not sure where she was going, what she was thinking, and she did not care. She searching for nothing and everything and wandered around aimlessly. Her bright, odd colored eyes glistened in the sunlight and brilliantly stood out against the darkness of her coat. Her left eye was a sparkling sapphire blue and her right was a radiant emerald color. They almost seemed to glow, appearing like gems shoved into her eye sockets. Her eyes almost made her seem as though she was not real, only a wandering shadow with gems for eyes. When she blinked and her eyes were hidden, she seemed like nothing more than a fluffy shadow of a lost wolf.

She did not even bother smelling the scents that drifted upon the breeze. She ignored every sign of other wolves and even prey whether she was hungry or not. She was not sure if she had already tresspassed on another pack's lands, where close to them, or very far from them. Nor was she aware of any other wolves in the area, but she assumed that she would know if they got close enough to be a threat. Maybe part of her not staying alert went back to the idea that she wanted to be found, but a part of her wanted to crawl back to the shadows where she belonged. Instead she forced herself to stay out in the frozen field and explore these new lands more. She needed to learn about where she was and who was around. She wanted to be far from her home, as far as she could get. Hopefully she would find a place to call home within these lands. The thought of joining a pack here crossed her mind, but only for a moment. After everything that happened with the last two packs she was some-what a part of, she was not sure how she really felt about joining another one. She had been a loner for a few months now and was fairing just fine despite the pang of lonliness, but that had grown to a dull ache, and soon it would vanish entirely and she would embrace the new way of life that she was creating for herself. It was certainly much more peaceful and this way she would not have to trust or reply upon other wolves. After all, their ignorance never ceased to amaze her. She was surprised at how long she could stand to be around them anyway.

Pushing all those thoughts aside and focusing on the earth that rolled out before her and the endless clear sky above her, she forced a slight smile upon her muzzle that quickly faded back to the same blank expression. Her pace slightly increased, but she still maintained that soundless step as if she were a ghost and her paws were not even touching the earth beneath her.
