She didn't know why she was back here. But something, or someone rather, drew her to the cathedral. Paws pressed silently against the floor, nostrils quivered, searching for Shai's scent. And when she did find it, he wasn't alone. There was a stranger lurking, a northern. Her step would falter briefly, senses immediately going on high alert. Eyes darted back and forth, searching the darkness. Ears strained, listening for the sounds of battle. But it was silent. Picking up her pace, she would search for Shai.

She found him within a few minutes, asleep. Tension slipped from her shoulders. A small smile would begin to lift her lips as she approached. She moved quietly, not wanting to wake him. But then his scent would hit her like a truck. Again her step would falter, causing her paw to land on a fallen twig. Nostrils flared, inhaling his scent. Ears fell back against her skull, confusion filling her gaze. His scent mingled heavily the northerns she had smelled earlier. But there was something else. Sex. It clung to him heavily, suffocating her with its potency. He had been with a northern. Maybe she had been wrong about their day spent together, maybe it had just been an illusion. She stood frozen, unable to move, her thoughts all tangled and jumbled. She had been wrong. So very wrong.

Slumber had followed quickly after he?d found himself with Motif. Any thoughts of the future or any words of his conscious had not been heard. The dark succubus had overwhelmed his mind and he?d not been able to say no. Only once had Gwena?s sweet face entered his mind, but even she had been no match to the destructive forces of Motif?s alluring body. He enjoyed himself, found immense pleasure within the woman who had found him, but now he?d have to come back to reality and face the consequences of his actions. He?d awake to the sound of an old twig snapping, the silence of the cathedral suddenly broken he would find himself conscious once again. His bright eyes would open only to find the form of Gwena before him, the look of betrayal on her features making it painfully obvious that she knew exactly what had transpired last night. A look of shame would overcome his features as he shifted to face her, his body not lifting from the ground as his ears would become slick with his skull. What was he supposed to say? "Gwena, I.." He?d really been developing feelings for his childhood friend, her presence had been all he could think about since their day together. How could he so easily go and ruin something so fragile as that? "I?m sorry." He?d whisper softly, as he realized what it was he?d really given up for a single night with Motif. The hurt in her features would only drive the stake of guilt further, knowing that she too had felt the blossoming of a perfect love that he?d soiled so easily.

He would wake as soon as the twig snapped beneath her weight. He didn't rise, he didn't move towards her, he remained on the ground. Her name rolled off his lips, realization setting in. His apology breached her ears, but it meant nothing. She remained silent, unable to form any words. He at least looked guilty, his ears pinned against his skull. But it didn't matter. He tossed it all away, for one night. Pain radiated across every inch of her body. She thought something had been between them, even as new as it was, something so small, but she was wrong. He had thrown it all away. Tense shoulders began to bristle defensively.

She was young and naive, but she wasn't oblivious to what went one between those who loved each other. And apparently, those who were simply strangers. She stood rooted the ground, all she could do was stare at him. Still no words would leave her jaws. What could she say? There was so much she wanted to say, that she should say, but she couldn't. She seemed to have lost her ability to speak coherently, or even speak at all.

Though he had given Gwena no verbal sign of his dedication he would realize the absolute devastation she would feel, as he would similarly. Though he was the betrayer the hurt was still there, the mistake an awful regret. He?d whisper his apology, knowing that it would never in a million years be enough. He?d realize then that he didn?t deserve the brilliant being before him. He was much too weak for her. Seemingly all the questions that had been swimming in his mind would find their answer. The reason he wasn?t the Aika?s guardian, the reason his father wasn?t part of the picture? Shai was just too weak. Physically and mentally his failures were immensely obvious.
He wanted to look away from her, to run away and never return. For a moment he thought he?d might. He was already his own outcast, how big of a jump would totally leaving be? He wouldn?t though, he would stay. The massive wolf would finally stand, his head hanging close to the ground as he looked up at her. He didn?t know what to say. He?d done what he?d done, and he couldn?t change it now. Still the loss of her would be the worst. "I can?t do anything to make this better. I can?t do anything to make this right, and i know i?ve made the biggest mistake of my life." He?d whisper, emotions apparent within those quiet words. "It?s obvious I don?t deserve you," he?d feel tears well up in his eyes unexpectedly as he found he would mourn what could have been.

He would finally rise, though she didn't fully process the movement. His head hung low to the ground, his guilt evident. But it wasn't enough. She didn't care how guilty he was, or how much he had regretted it, he had still done it. His words fell on deaf ears, slipping in one grey ear and out the other. He could be as sorry as he wanted. He could regret it as much as he wanted. It would make no different. Like a slap to the face, her body would remember how to function. She would see the tears well up in his eyes, but she remained unmoved. Without so much as a word, she would pivot away from him, the stench that clung to his pelt was suffocating her. Long limbs would carrying her away from him, her movements stiff and mechanical. Her eyes stared straight ahead, seeing nothing as they guided her to an unknown destination. Everything had been shattered into a million little pieces, and now it was time for her to pick them up. She had never felt rejection before this, and it stung. Rejection hurt unlike anything she had ever experienced. There was not a single flesh would she knew of that could amount to the damage that had been done to her fragile heart. Twigs would snag at her pelt as she broke into frantic run once she was out of sight, she didn't care if he tried to follow or if he called for her, she needed to be as far away from him as possible right now.

She wouldn?t say anything at all, but she didn?t have to. He knew he?d done wrong, and knew so very well that he?d hurt her more than he ever thought he could. His own regret would burn at his being, causing him to feel a physical pain like a vice grip on his heart. A s he watched her turn he would not stop her, he?d only hope that she would not have to suffer for his terrible decisions for very long. As she disappeared from his view the giant would fall back to the ground in a listless manner, his legs strewn everywhere as he let his emotions take over his form. He?d let the tears fall as he would lay still, his mind reeling, and regret seething through his form. What was he going to do?
