Walking Is Like Flying, Right?

Warm sunlight tickled the dozing boy. He would constantly roll over, dreaming the most wonderful things. Slumber grasped him like a paw as he sweetly snored. Slowly awakening, his lazy leaf gaze would roll towards the den entrance, his mind contemplating whether or not he should get up or sleep a while longer. The sun was already busily awake and working. It would be such a shame to waste this day sleeping like he usually did. Besides, wasn't he old enough to go outside? All the adult wolves could do it, why couldn't he?
He sat up, shakily rising to his paws before falling over. Frustration burned across his features. He would attempt it again, this time he was able to walk all the way outside before collapsing on the grass. Almost forgetting about his failures, the pup would look around in a gazed and awestruck manner. He never knew his home was this big! He saw forests and lakes with plains that stretched further than he could see. He couldn't wait to explore when he was older. But for now, he had to figure out how to run.

Motif loved two activities most in the world, to test her abilities in a spar against an opponent, and to run, to chase the setting of the sun. well, these where her favourite as long as you didn't count teasing Bass as an activity. She has spent the day before in a friendly spar for the first time in a good few months and she felt exhilarated from the excitement of it. Today, she would stretch out her long, dainty paws and tear across the Serpaint plains. Dashing beneath trees and leaping over fallen debris still left over from the weather crisis they had left behind. She kicked up dust and enjoyed the heat of the warm sun as it chased her across the plains of Abaven territory. She was laughing, her tail streaming wildly behind her and her head raised high in laughter when she realised another obstacle was in her path, she leapt and flew over Tinaro before skidding to a holt, tossing back her head and looking at the little life she had almost fun into. Her breath came out in light-hearted pants as she shook out her body and took another step towards the young pup. ?Hey there, what are you doing?? she asked, her voice gentle as she looked the little creature over. He looked very young to be out and about all on his own. "Speech" |

He would faintly spot a sprinting fleck in the corner of his eye. He turned to see a larger brown wolf pelting through the grass and obstacles. Motif! He remembered his mother talk about some of the wolves she trained and worked with. Envy caught his emotions. He wanted to be like that, running freely with the wind. She leaped over and halted beside him, greeting and inquiring delicately. He looked up into her blazing amber gems, amazement in his own emeralds. Perhaps he had already found himself a role model.
"Hi Motif!" He greeted with an excited wag of his ebony dipped tail. "I'm learning to run, just like you."
He would swiftly get up upon his paws with ease, walking a few steps forward shakily. He would try to run but his try didn't spell success. He managed to cover a few feet before losing his balance and tripping over his blundering paws. He would look back to the chocolate female, an innocent look on his face. Why couldn't he run? Why was he struggling?

She had caught the pups attention it seemed with her strange entrance, and as her breathing cooled down she took a seat beside the young life, so that she could better see his face and they could talk easier face to face. The pup seemed happy to meet her, and she greeted the excitement with a smile of her own. She was surprised the little thing knew her name, she hadn't interacted much with the pups of Abaven, not with everything else going on with storms and repair works and all the rest of it. Tinaro would rise, although it did little to make him bigger beside Motif, and would move a few steps before attempting to turn his stride into a run. She rose again, laughing good naturedly as she looked the boy over carefully. He was so small, but his paws where so large and he had had little chance to grow into them. She nosed the boy, encouraging him to get back on his feet. ?I think I see your problem, your tripping over your own paws, there almost the size of your head!? she joked as she stretched out her own paws before him. 'Put more distance between your steps, one foot in front of the other instead of trying to move all at once or tripping over your big feet.? she took an exaggerated stride and turned it into a run, rushing a circle about the wolf in a flurry, her long fur flying behind her, elegant and silver in the sunlight. The bronze lady gave a good hearted laugh, nosing him upon his paws and exchanging her own knowledge for his own benefit. She stated the problem and that being his paws were a little big. He stared down at his ebony "socks". For a small creature, he didn't know what was big or small. He tucked away her advice in his memory. She showed a demonstration but the pup was more than confident he knew what he was doing.
He would give another attempt, starting off with an effortless walk. After a few moments he picked up his pace, his mind focusing and watching his paws. He narrowed his eyes with concentration. He made sure he had larger strides and one paw would always go in front of the other. He would lead himself in a straight line before pelting in circles and other strange zig zags. Lost in his own excitement, his run became fast and swift. With every stride he took the more simple it became. He had trouble with running? Hah, not anymore!
