[Private, for Gale]

A wide golden gaze scanned the rocky terrain known as his family's temporary home. In his opinion, this landscape wouldn't satisfy him for permanent residence. His mind preferred something a little more green, but there was no point complaining now. It was only for the night (hopefully), until they were all well rested for the upcoming journey. Sleep had not overcome his mind just yet and that was how he found himself seated a few lengths away from the alcove. He rested his head on his paws and his eyes flickered to the darkening sky. It was either uncomfortable sleep or staring at the stars alone. There was silence for a few moments as his mind shifted into a pleasant state of emptiness. There was nothing to do and nothing to worry about. His family might be anxious about their next home but he certainly wasn't. He just carried himself with the flow, like his usual carefree self.

Walk | Talk | Think

Inside of the alcove, Gale slept. Temporary or not, the small space that her brother had designated for them suited her well, offering a cozy place to rest and spend the night while still allowing the lot of them to remain together as a whole. The move they had been forced to make was a difficult one for Gale though she tried not to let on to it. A part of her still yearned for the island home they had been born on, even for their parents, but there was no going back and honestly she could not imagine leaving her siblings to try and figure out a way to stay. They were a significant piece of what made her up; to remove them from her life would have made her less than whole. No, she was going nowhere. She could, and would, adjust, just like the rest of them.

With a soft twitch, her eyelids fluttered open and with a quick intake of breath, the petite grey and lavender wolf stretched, flexed, and curled up suddenly tighter where she lay upon the stony floor. Half-lidded, her grey-green eyes slowly adjusted not only to consciousness but the dim interior of the space and after a minute she could see the others. There was Glacier, with Locha cuddled up beside him as she often did. And there was Terrae...was he awake?

Her brow furrowing, Gale unfurled just enough to lift her head and stare out of the enclosed space after her earthy brother, watching a moment just to confirm what she thought and then quietly drawing herself up and off the ground to pad quietly and slowly out to him. The others were skirted past with care and it was only after she was there beside her brother that she addressed him in a voice just above a whisper. "Can't sleep?"

Before his eyes could find her form, he breathed in the scent that was distinctly his sister's. A faint smile crept to his features as he turned his head to face her. His amber gaze trailed over her figure for the thousandth time he had in his years. Her looks and unique lavender streaks were all memorized in his mind, like with all his family. He expected all of his siblings to be resting, but it seemed he was not the only one finding trouble in slumber. Surely their older brothers would not mind a little socializing before finding their sleep (however long that may take). In a way they were keeping watch, if that was considered useful.

He answered with a chuckle, his words free of fatigue and exhaustion. He was surprised he was able to keep himself wide awake for such time. "I suppose you can't either."

Gale managed a small smirk as Terrae accused her of having the same troubles that he did with sleep. "Guess so," she answered agreeably, still keeping her tone quiet for the others who slumbered nearby. Truthfully, if she tried to rest again she was sure she could sleep. It was still there lingering behind her consciousness, looking for its next chance to grab at her and take her under. It was likely only a matter of time before it caught her again, but seeing her brother keeping watch over them all had made her wish to keep him company for a little bit.

Without being invited, she padded right up to his side and flopped onto the ground next to him, scooting close as she made herself comfortable. Her pale eyes roamed skyward, secretly admiring the dazzle of the stars above and the clear view she had of them. Or at least clear in terms of no clouds; the mountain itself still blocked out a  piece of the view with its height. "It's quiet out here," she commented. No interruptions so far, no strangers happening upon them in their little alcove up the mountainside. She was beginning to wonder if they might not all have been able to sleep here without someone keeping watch.

She sat down beside him, and the man watched her intently as she found herself gazing in the stars. Yes, the celestial beings were quite alluring to the eye. There had been few times when he had devoted his time to simply stargaze. This particular moment was different. The sky was so clear, in a way looking unnatural without clouds obstructing the view. Gale commented on the exact subject his thoughts were thinking of, the quietness. His ears couldn't even hear the soft snoring of Locha.

"I believe that's a good thing," He whispered into her ear, trying not to break the wonderful and relaxing silence. "We won't be interrupted by any strange creatures."

In his mind, safety always came first. Although, it was highly unlikely the traveling group would be ambushed during their journey. He didn't expect any encounters with strangers until they were settled in their new home, wherever that might be.

Walk | Talk | Think

Her ear flicked absently as her brother whispered a reply, allowing her attention to remain fixated above them both. She agreed wholly with Terrae and too thought it was a good sign for the traveling band of siblings. A quiet location meant a safe haven, a place where they could rest and gather themselves before setting off again. With no destination in sight, no desired outcome outright known, it seemed important that they take advantage of these moments of stolen peace to bask in the ability to relax fully for once. She knew better than to think that their travels, if and when they left this place, would be as accommodating or comfortable.

With a little quirk, her lips drew up along the left corner into a half smile, glad to be of one mind with the earthy wolf. "It's nice," she replied in the same whispered tone, "soothing almost. You can really relax here." It made her, just a little, wish not to leave. Here she had tall peaks, green forests further down the mountain, and if the momentary quiet was any indicator it was a peaceful place to be. Wide, windy plains were just as enjoyable, but she doubted she would find a location that appeased all of her desires. "I really like the ledges a little further up," she added, managing to drop her voice just a smidgen more as she confessed her secret to her brother, "you can really feel the wind up there."

But of course she was going to enjoy a place that boasted a little feel of the element for which she was named. She was sure Locha preferred it down by the beach where they had originally made their crossing from the island. And what of Terrae, she wondered, what does he prefer? Curiously her pale eyes shifted downward and over toward her brother there at her side, a little lean of her head causing her to peer at him as if from one eye rather than both. "Are you comfortable here too?"

It seemed each of his siblings preferred different landscapes and climates. Being named after the element, his sister showed signs of her love for the wind. Running through an open moor or highland is where he always imagined her to be. Every Elementas suited their element so perfectly. Their name, appearance and personality matched it creepily well. However, it made them unique.

Just as she spoke, he felt his impatient mind bursting to tell her his own secret (even though it wasn't much of one). Although she asked him whether or not he found this area pleasant and congenial, he was still itching to put in a little extra. He briefly glanced at her while she stated her inquiry, immediately answering with enthusiasm.

"I am comfortable," He responded slowly, turning his head so he could look out across the rocky terrain. His gaze was locked on the path that they would soon travel along the next day. The man was positive these lands would offer something satisfying. "But I do prefer something a little green, like forests and woods."

Walk | Talk | Think

The half smile on her face grew into one more full, more genuinely happy rather than simply amused. It was good to hear that Terrae was comfortable here too, just as she was, though in the back of her mind she continued to remind herself that it was only a temporary set up. At some point they would leave again, likely sooner as opposed to later, and they would wind up somewhere else entirely, wherever it was their elder brothers decided it best for them to go. And like a dutiful sister, she would follow, as she supposed her other littermates would too. They were whole as one, capable of standing alone but more when together. She could not imagine their small band breaking apart for any reason.

Ah, there it was! That little admission of what it was, really, that her earthy brother was looking out for most. Green. Green and wild and full of life, a forest that attested to its strength and vitality. Gale grinned at the thought, her tail giving a few humorous wags against her brother's side. Mm, with a nice, big, green open meadow hidden in it where the winds make all kinds of noise," she added, combining her own wishes with his. Could it be possible for the both of them - for all of them for that matter - to find a single location that met all of their desires? It seemed such a stretch but it felt possible to find a place that connected her to Terrae, maybe even Glacier since his connotation with ice meant tall, windy peaks. As for Locha...

As much as she wanted to consider herself closely bonded with all of her siblings, there felt to be some invisible strain there with her sister. Maybe it was all in her head, or maybe it was just the trek across the land bridge from their island home that made her wonder how in the world it was anyone could actually like waters like that, but the sentiments had yet to retreat. They bothered the grey and lavender girl a little, especially now when it was so quiet her thoughts were all but screaming inside her head. We're all so different, you know," she said a little solemnly, turning her head to gaze at their large, slumbering brother and the little mass of grey that was Locha beside him, "we all like such different things. Do you think we'll find another home that suits all of us? Like the island did?" Maybe that, too, was a stretch, but to her knowledge each of them had been at home on their island, at least before their brothers were forced away. In her mind, it was the last place where they had all of them been truly comfortable.

He doubted this continent had everything that everyone wanted. Forests, moors, beaches and mountains seemed quite a bit to ask for. Even if the continent provided these landscapes, they would be more likely spread across the entire land. Mountains are found in the north, beaches are found by coastlines, while forests and moors are found in temperate climates. If this was the case, their family would be split apart living in different corners of the continent. They would hardly see each other and live a solitary life, all because of their differences. Like his sister said, a landscape with a mixture of everything would be nice yet unlikely. A more simpler option would be learning to tolerate other terrains. Their family could settle in one area and stay together. Then again, he could not stand cold temperatures and high peaks such as mountains. It wasn't that simple after all.

"I'm sure this continent has everything we need." He assured calmly, also notifying her of the slight problem that may occur. "Although we could end up split apart, living great distances away from each other."

Walk | Talk | Think

Grounded as always, Terrae seemed to find his answer in the rational. Gale knew just from seeing the scope of the land that they had as they had wandered inland from the coast and up this mountain that the likelihood of finding a piece of land that suited all of them was pretty good. The beach was about as different from this mountain as it could get, and she was sure she had seen plenty of greener areas that likely would have appealed to Terrae, or at least once the warmer months took over. But finding one that they could all live within together that would suit each of their needs?

Even he recognized the problem in that, but hearing him state it aloud did not make it any less concerning for her. The grey and lavender wolf's expression drew into a worrisome frown, contemplating the idea that her family may well split up and break apart simply because of the differences that made each of them so unique. The thought alone was enough to make her stomach twist uncomfortably. They were her rocks, her anchor around which she was able to harbor and live her life with free whimsy and fun. Without them...she was not sure how she would function.

"I hope it doesn't come to that," she muttered dismally as she snuggled a little more closely against her brother, taking comfort in the fact she still had him, and the rest of her siblings for that matter, here with her. She could not imagine being without them. "I'm sure Glacier will find some place for all of us," she speculated, trying to remain optimistic and placing her trust in her eldest sibling. He always seemed to have a good knack for direction, at least so far as their travels had proven. Maybe even she would be the one to find the perfect home for them here. Settled beside Terrae, she made a mental note for herself to look into it when daylight came calling.

She held her faith in their elder brother, although he wished his thoughts could be filled with the same hope. There was no doubt about it, Glacier was indeed a fine and protective brother who had led the Elementas family to their new home. Confidence with perseverance, he was a role model in his eyes. However, he couldn't do everything for them. He knew each of his family members looked up to Glacier for guidance yet there were tasks even Glacier would not be able to perform unless he was invincible. Terrae wanted to believe that there was the perfect home waiting for them down the mountain.

"How do you stay optimistic with these matters?" He would inquire, managing to creep a small grin on his features. His eyes looked down at the one who had snuggled closer beside him. Gale seemed to be looking on the bright side of these troubling thoughts. In fact, it didn't seem to be bothering her. The man himself was usually quiet and calm but when the arising issues concerned him, he would be one to worry. Perhaps she had her way of cheery thinking that may prove useful for himself.
