The more time he spent looking after these kids the more he realised that he was right. He wasn't cut out to be a father. They had sucked all of the fun from his life and yet he was still expected to run around after them pretending he was a good father. Like now for instance when he had wanted a nice snooze in the sunshine, he had been rudely awoken by the declaration that Shakespeare was missing. Now had it been Caesar, Soliloquy wouldn't have tried so hard (at least he told himself that anyway). Had it been Colette there would have been no reason to try as hard, you would have soon heard her. But Shakespeare hadn't left any trace as to where he had gone, the quietest of the kids was good at that and Sollioquy was sure he'd be able to cope alright but because he was the good one, he had to look for him.
The problem was however that they had no idea where he had gone, though of course scents had begun to be tracked Soliloquy had lost it somewhere along the lines and now wasn't sure whether to continue in hopes of picking it up again or loop back around and try find where he had lost it in the first place. Selfishly he chose the first option, proving yet again he was not a good father even to the favourite child. This time alone away from arguments, screams and children in general. It was wonderful.
Every few steps she took, a painful sensation would pierce her pads. She examined her paw and the littered soil of silvery sharp materials. How she had wondered into this strange plateau remained a mystery in her mind. She had promised herself a short walk to clear her troubling thoughts and as always she got carried away. Now that she had reached adulthood she wasn't exactly sure where she wanted her life to go. It seemed everyone was leaving to either join a pack or to wander off and never to be seen again. Although she had met up with a dearly missed friend earlier in the winter, a part of her felt incomplete, empty and lonely. She didn't know if this was a feeling she was supposed to feel.
She briefly looked up from her slowly traveling paws, finding a pelt of white in the distance. Her mind knew of one soul with alabaster fur although she highly doubted this would be the same wolf. Out of curiosity and light boredom, she found herself swiftly creeping closer to him until there were a few strides in their distance apart. For a few moments she trekked silently behind him. He might have been able to pick up her scent, however, not matter how older she was, her paws could not escape their clumsy ways. Her gaze did not see the rather large piece of silvery material (an armour chest plate) jutting out from the ground. Her forepaw hit it with a metallic clang, giving away her position.
This was far from the greatest place on earth, littered with the strange items that had been cast aside many years ago, their purpose as lost as the humans that had left them there. Perhaps some items would be worth another little glance, something interesting about them though Soliloquy ignored the junk, instead simply enjoying the moment of freedom. Perhaps this was the real reason he had been so miserable, his life simply wasn't meant to be controlled by any woman and certainly not by kids.
He thought he had caught her scent before he heard her, of course his mind didn't place it directly to Titania herself but simply to a female. A dangerous female at that, the scent so tempting yet the possible results far from it. He had learnt his lesson... hadn't he? No, probably not.
As the small clatter sounded he would turn around to face the direction, soon spotting the figure that had caught his attention. Face and scent would finally register within his mind and he noticed what he had failed to pick up on before, he knew this female. It took a moment for thoughts to fully catch up, but finally he pulled a name to mind. "Titania from the Western Willows" He greeted her, recalling her rather detailed introduction. "It seems we've finally met again." A small smile would find its way to his features. He had intended upon finding her again, life had gotten somewhat complicated however but it seemed that even without his home tacked onto the end of his name she had found him anyway.
Exactly who she presumed it to be, and it was about time she came across him once again. She rarely ever met the same wolf once and so she was expecting another encounter with the male. Not that she was searching for him this whole time, or was she?
"Soliloquy." She calmly greeted, finding the introduction simple compared to her own detailed description. She did not recall him providing any other information other than his name, however it didn't bother her at all. "Yes, we meet again."
He did not seem to be doing anything important so she assumed he would not mind the extra company. Perhaps now was the perfect opportunity to escape her uncomfortable thoughts. Talking with another always seemed to lighten her mood, although she would keep her questions to a minimum.
Her body would slither forwards to stand beside him, maw opening to inquire lightly. "Mind if I join you?"
He may have looked like he had nothing important to do, some part of his mind ought to have been reminding him of the fact that he did. Somewhere around this place there was a child, his child (that part really should have grasped his attention), wandering lost and alone and he was meant to be a good dad and go find him and bring him home to pacify a distraught mother. Did one part of that really clog up his mind now though as he stood here with Titania? Definitely not, and certainly not that 'good dad' part. Soliloquy was proving what he had suspected all along right about now, he was an awful father.
She would move again, that teasing scent consuming his thoughts and almost making him miss her words entirely as bright eyes watched her come to a stop beside him. "Of course not." He responded. "It would be a pleasure to spend some more time with you."
She would trot forward, flicking a silky ebony tail in a beckoning movement. Hopefully he would get her message and join her walk. Like with their first encounter, she preferred sitting whilst having her conversations. Although, her current surroundings weren't the most attractive of landscapes and so walking was a better option. She always happened to be trekking along with her discussions with others.
"So what have you been doing lately? If I may ask." She asked innocently, deciding to start the conversation with a harmless question. Her own answer would again be more simpler and shorter. Nothing had really happened in the past season besides her infrequent encounters with others. She expected the same to be for the male. The truth to her was oblivious and whether he decided to share it would be his choice.
The stationary standing would last only for a moment, neither would sit though Titania would begin to stray again, pausing to cast a brief look behind to the white male. Soliloquy of course wouldn't hesitate on the spot for too long, soon falling into step with her, keeping close by her side. It was torture of course, perhaps for her as well, that overpowering scent certainly bringing him back from the somewhat domesticated man he had become in the recent months. That being said it was Titania that filled his thoughts at that moment.
What had he been up to? "Nothing exciting." He responded, the lies falling so smoothly from his lips that they simply couldn't be doubted, especially by someone who didn't know any better. Isolde would be furious, he ought to tell the truth admit he was actually looking for his son but no sense of a concious would appear and he would continue on this path. "And what about you? I'm sure you have some far more interesting tales to share" He would easily bring the topic back to her. To be honest, however insensitive it may have been, he cared more about her present state. Surely that heat had brought her similar longings to his own? He wouldn't of course rush and bring that up right away however, he would be patient, at least for a little while.
Being the girl she is, lies were words she could not distinguish from honesty. She was one to be easily deceived with flawless sentences and charming auras similar to his own. With no doubt she believed him and took the lead of the conversation with truth.
"I wouldn't call them interesting tales." She began hesitantly with a teasing giggle slipping after her words. What she had been doing this past season certainly would not be interesting. She wasn't an explorer or adventurer that always happened to stumble across a fight or discover something of great value. Her matured mind had come to realize fantasy stories were far from reality, and perhaps that was the cause of her boredom. The best highlight of her wanders would be finding what she had searched for during that time (which was only a type of herb) or coming across another traveller (which happened to be uncommon). She wasn't sure what interest he held with these tales, however she would still respond to his inquiry. "I walk, travel and think quite a lot. A few matters happen to trouble me."
There was no need to bore him with the details, a simple explanation would do. She prepared herself for the obvious, if he wanted to delve deeper with her troubling matters. Although, they were her problems, not his.
Titania had no reason to suspect him of course, there was no sign of the missing child anywhere, not one member of his family rushing up to ask whether he'd found the boy yet. Shakespeare was the good kid, sensible enough, Soliloquy was sure he'd turn up all on his own soon enough. Poor thing just needed a break and he could certainly sympathise as well or rather he would if his thoughts weren't simply focussed upon his own break.
Whilst the man lied, the female was very likely telling the truth. Humbly she declared a lack of interest in her own tales. Walking, talking and thinking about troubling matters. What a shame, he was curious about what bothered her though whether not quite caring enough or simply choosing to take another route with his plans it wasn't entirely certain. A lighter mood would be better, not one dampened by any troubles. He needed a distraction and she did too.
"What a shame." Soliloquy responded voice sounding rather concerned for her. "Perhaps I can help you take your mind off of such matters?" A perfectly innocent suggestion or was it? It all depended upon how Titania took it.
Instead of asking her to name the troubles that had been brought upon her, he proposed his assistance in taking her mind off her thoughts. She knew he would not be able to completely wipe out these thoughts, although if she could forgot them just for the moment, it was still good enough. She briefly wondered if they were both referring to the same subject, and if so, how did he know this was bothering her mind? He wasn't the one suffering from the unbearable stench that clung to her pelt. He wasn't the one trying to avoid contact with others. Or was it that obvious she was in heat?
"How?" Words would curiously ask. She didn't want to jump ahead and immediately provide him with a response. The help wouldn't be turned down no matter what was troubling her. He was thoughtful enough to suggest it. Although, she wanted to know how he was planning to do so.
Unfortunately for Titania it was incredibly obvious though Soliloquy wouldn't exactly say he was suffering from being around her, the pair could easily solve troubles together. He could help calm her feelings and she his as well. Not that he was aware that it was her heat that was currently plaguing her thoughts, he could guess of course that she needed some relief from it, though for all he knew there were far more serious problems within her life that she needed to escape from.
Innocent, she had no idea quite what he was thinking. Such things were easier shown than spoken however and so no verbal response would be given right away. He would step closer to her side now, bodies lightly touching as they continued to walk though he would slow the pace hoping she would mimic his actions and they could stop moving entirely. "I'm sure we can find a way." He responded.
Helpful indeed. He only assured her there was a way to relieve her troubles rather than stating his course of action. She assumed he didn't know himself, or was making it up the further they delved into this conversation. Surprises weren't something she was a fan of. Perhaps it was best if she didn't know what to do, even if she didn't think positively about it.
It was a feeling she had not felt in a long time. The feeling of contact with another. She focused on that feeling as his flank gently brushed against hers. In a way she felt comforted by it. His pace began to slow as he halted his movements, which she copied and stood still beside him.
"Alright." She finally chirped, not knowing was else to add. She hoped he would take this as approval for his assistance. An emerald gaze would drift towards her fidgeting paws, impatiently waiting for a response.
The element of surprise was somewhat necessary. His plan was best revealed slowly through actions that would allow the body to naturally respond than the mind to overthink before anything had even begun. They both needed this after all, a distraction and relief from any built up tension in their lives. Those matters she thought of would soon fade away. Of course any rebuke of his advances he would stop, he would leave her in peace.
"Alright." He echoed her word softly as she agreed and came to a stop beside him. Her gaze would drop, was that already regret forming in her mind? So swiftly, he hoped not? He would take the action as an excuse to move closer, gently nudging her muzzle back up with his nose to encourage her head to lift once more. "Your paws are rather lovely." He teased, a small nuzzle to her cheek before he retreated to hopefully meet her gaze if she looked back up. "But surely I can't be that boring that they're more interesting to look at?"
Embarrassment overwhelmed her as a nose lifted her muzzle up, allowing her to directly look into his amber gaze. Her eyes had a way with avoiding eye contact with others. Her fidgeting movements would cease, and no possible distractions would bother her. If it was his plan for her to keep eye contact with him, then she would stick to it.
"Sorry," She whispered, batting her lashes shyly. It wasn't herself to be timid around others as she was usually the outgoing and loud type. Perhaps it was her loneliness that had led her to her bashful state. Keeping quiet may prove to be a positive thing. "Really, I find you much more interesting than my paws."
That didn't sound creepy, did it?
It was the truth, after all. She found nothing pretty or attractive with her paws. They were quite boring actually, unlike him, who happened to keep her attention at its peak.
Titania would allow his gentle touch to guide her face upwards and withdrawing from the nuzzle his yellow eyes would meet her vivid green ones. A calm seeming to fall over her though Soliloquy could got a she wasn't quite comfortable with it all still, her little apology only strengthening this belief. Was it really all so new and unusual to her, even simple affections such as this? Poor girl, she most certainly deserved some attention.
She had given up staring at her paws now, confirming that he was more interesting than them. It hadn't sounded creepy at all to him, though it had of course been the answer he was hoping for. "No need to be sorry, I simply feared I may have been boring you." He responded. "It's good to know I'm not, I find you interesting as well. It'd be a shame for that interest to be unrequited." He would keep hold of her gaze for now if she would allow it, making no other movements just yet. Perhaps with a little encouragement Titania would even be brave enough to make the next.
It was comforting to know she had caught his interest for now. In a way, her mind processed this as a compliment. She wasn't boring or dull and that was relieving. After his reassuring statement she would grow quiet. Too quiet, in fact. He made no further movements, none to provide her with a slight hint of the assistance he had offered. Her blank thoughts raced for words, sentences, questions or anything to break the silence. Perhaps it was a convenient state for her mind, as she had almost forgotten about the troubles that had been bothering her.
She would try to keep their eye contact but the longer she swam in his sea of amber, the urge to look away grew. An awkward chuckle slipped uneasily from her lips as her eyes quickly darted to the ground before connecting their gazes once more. Faintly, she felt lost. Was there something he wanted her to do?
It was good that she deemed his words a compliment, though so stunned or embarrassed by the revelation it seemed that Titania had no verbal response. Were they done with words? It was tempting to speak the question out loud though it was perhaps a little too forward. The silence and staring combined was apparently starting to get a little awkward for the girl, her gaze briefly tearing away from his own and finally another little sound, a nervous laugh would ring through the air.
"Don't be so shy." He spoke softly to her, attempting to help banish this awkward feeling she had. "What do you want to do?" Hopefully it wouldn't be another walk, that took them away from what he wanted once more. "I feel we're too far apart, so I want to fix that" He would give his own example as he rose, scooting closer to her now. No contact but they were certainly close enough that it could be easily amended. Would Titania take that next step or would she retreat and the two be left to part? "Your turn."
He told her not to be shy, soon inquiring on what she wanted to do. Definitely not walking, she had grown bored with that idea. Whilst her mind was busy forming an answer, he pointed out how he felt they were too far apart. Too far apart? How? What did he mean by that? Taking it as an example, his body shifted closer to hers. She waited for him to close the remaining distance between them, but he made no further movements. He was close yet not enough for their fur to touch, open for her to complete. Was that what he meant by their distance apart? The temptation grew eagerly, now she shared the same wish to be closer.
"I'm sure that can be arranged." She assured him with a small teasing grin tugging at her features. Her shyness had vanished, replaced with a new confidence. As her turn, she took the final step which left no space between them, brushing his flank smoothly. Her thoughts clouded as she focused on that light touch, the thought of leaving already shrunken in the depths of her mind. Ever so willing to take it further, those would be all her actions for now. She didn't want to get too ahead of herself. She awaited a response or silent actions of his own, curiosity plaguing her mind. How far would this reach?
Though he hoped she wouldn't suddenly back away from him, a small part of Soliloquy suspected she might think he had moved too soon. He would be pleasantly surprised however as Titania found some confidence and not only closed the distance further, but provided a nicely delivered comment and a smile to accompany it. Where had that come from? He wouldn't question it too much of course, but simply roll with it instead.
"That's a little better." He commented in a whisper as his lips found their way to her ear. He wouldn't pull away so quickly however, in fact moving closer now alternating between little nuzzles and teasing kisses as he slowly began to trail from her cheek, to her neck and heading down her back.
Momentarily, she felt pleased with herself and with what she had done. He seemed satisfied with it, was that what he wanted all this time? For her to take a step out of her comfort zone? He could have told her instead of tagging along with their uneventful walk. But then again, it was all about the surprise. By what she was experiencing, surprises were quite delightful.
Preparing to speak, she was greeted with trailing nuzzles and kisses which briefly allowed her to forget what she was planning to say. A fluttering shiver travelled along her spine as they made contact, tail beginning to swish lively. Her cheeks heated with warmth. Had she ever been given attention like this? How had she never thought of it?
"It is." She finally managed to softly murmur with agreement, controlling the urge for her sweet smile to grow larger. "Much better than walking."
