Novella had not been Sorrel's first patient, though his aunt was certainly proving to be a rather difficult case. The boy was still learning, it probably wasn't best for him to be the main healer of the pack and yet somehow it seemed that he had ended up with the role without any other healers around to help him out.

Physical ailments he had of course witnessed and even helped in his two years of life though never had he come across any mental problems. There was no illness that he could diagnose here and yet something obviously wasn't right with his aunt. She seemed even less enthusiastic about things than even Sorrel himself, rather down-in-the-dumps and simply gloomy despite the joy that she was apparently meant to carry in her soul right now.

He had no real solution, lavender had calmed her a little, helped her to sleep which had begun to lift her spirits but for the most part he wasn't sure what else he could do to help her. His mother surely would have had a solution though by now Sorrel had given up hope of seeing her suddenly appear in Threar again. He missed her terribly of course and in moments like these certainly admired and even envied the expertise she'd always shown.

There were other healers in other packs he could learn from, that might even be able to help his aunt recover. The problem arose however in the fact that Sorrel lacked the confidence and general social skills to even consider such possibilities. They were rather stuck until someone else went for help, all Sorrel seemed to do these days was venture out to find more herbs that would likely do nothing at all for Novella. And so here he was on yet another little expedition, Ellingham flying silently above him as the pair quietly went about their search for something.

...and back to the Nook the creature did stalk. Her head was lowered, jaws parted as she breathed in and out in heavy breathes. Anger seemed to radiate off her body, and blood from a recent kill stained her coat. It hadn't been enough. Killing and feeding hadn't been enough. She still hurt. There was such pain in her heart, regret, torment. Why hadn't she done more for Lydovne? Why had the boy, Toxin, gone with the enemy? It wasn't right! The whole situation was upside down and even though it had been done with for some time it still ate at her conscious. She wanted to make it stop. To scream at it to shut up over and over until it finally let her be. Rainbow would stumble, leg caught up under a root, and where she fell she would lay.

She was sick of it. Sick of the hurting. The pain. All she had wanted was her family. To grow up happily with her parents and Spencer. Spencer... thoughts of longing for her "twin" brought a choked sob from the beast's lips. He had been precious, oh so precious. He was a light in the dark. Her light in the dark. He had been there, whispering things of hope to her even when things were at their bleakest. He gave her a reason to smile... and now... now...

Rainbow hadn't even realized that she had started to cry. The tears ran thick down her furry cheeks as she lay where she fell. She didn't want to get up. Didn't even want to try. It hurt. It hurt. It hurt. It hurt.  The female let out a pitiful howl to the sky. She wanted her brother back. But how on earth did you summon the dead? So quickly that anger faded to sadness... that crushing sadness that threatened to crush her.

Sorrel remained clueless to the presence of another stalking through the Nook for a few precious moments. As far as he was concerned it was simply him and his owl wandering around though the sound as the second wolf fell was what gave him his first clue that he was no longer alone. Mismatched gaze glanced up to Ellingham for a moment, the sound hadn't come from above though a part of Sorrel hoped that perhaps it was just the owl landing in a tree or something. Of course he had no such luck, Ellingham was still in the air, gazing back at Sorrel for a moment before flying off ahead to see for them what lay up ahead.

He could hear the crying before Ellingham had made it back, combined with the mournful howl that rang out it unsettled him. Sorrel wasn't good with emotions at the best of times and now there was one emotional wolf wandering somewhere around the Nook. Perhaps it was time to head home, call this a fruitless search and try again tomorrow or some time that this crying had ceased and left the lands clear once more.

"It's a wolf." Ellingham announced as he came back into view, drifting closer to Sorrel again though the pale boy had already turned to begin heading home. "I heard." Sorrel remarked simply, he wasn't deaf after all could definitely recognise the sounds of his own species. "They've fallen though Sorrel, I'm not sure if they can get up. They were just lying there crying, they might need some help." Why did this keep happening to him? OK well it had only been twice that a stranger had needed his healing skills but that was two more times than Sorrel wanted. "Fine." He huffed. "Lead the way."

Ellingham once more rose keeping low enough that it was easy for Sorrel to follow, not to mention harder for the boy to try and slip away. They'd spent a year together now and though he'd seen Sorrel begin to open up a little more, he wouldn't put it past him to still try flee the scene. It was too late for that now though, they were upon the distraught wolf, indeed she was lying on the ground and crying though Sorrel would first of all find himself staring at her back, the blocks of colours that trailed down it. He'd never seen a wolf with such bright array of colours. She looked weird.

It seemed she would not be left in her sorrows. No, never really alone. But whom she would hope to save her was not the one to find her. It was not Fenris, nor was it one of her babus, her poor, poor babus! The beast had heard the flapping of wings, of approaching pawsteps, and she would look up to see the golden young man gazing at her. The tears continued to flow all the same, teeth bared in her emotional pain. She would try to shift, but then wince. Had... Had she twisted her paw on that root? Damn it all! The beast would swallow hard, fighting with instinct.

"What... do you want with me?" Her words were wary, untrusting. She would try to force herself to stand, favoring her right foreleg. "...Trouble... or not?" She had no way of knowing his nature... If he was an enemy or not. How she wished Fenris were here!

It was a good job that Ellingham was not the egotistical sort or else Sorrel would probably never hear the end of events such as these. The multicoloured woman was clearly troubled by something and in pain of some sort, the wince of pain not unnoticed by the young healer as she moved or at least attempted to.

She would question his motives but the boy would only cast her glance to her legs, one clearly pained as she shifted her wait to avoid putting weight and pressure upon it. "Your leg, what happened to it?" He wouldn't waste any time with calming or talking to the wary woman, instead get straight to the point. Ellingham observed quietly, though ready to step in if the boy stepped too far out of line with his cold nature.

He wouldn’t answer her question, and Rainbow would bristle some as he cast his glance over her form. Even he meant well he was a stranger, and she would regard him with more caution, especially with her leg hurting like this. She would give an agitated flick of her tail, her pink-red orbs giving an uncertain look over him. For a moment she debated simply not answering the young man, but... If he could help...

“I... Fell.” The female would say in a rather non-descriptive manner. She would lower her gaze for a moment, motioning to what she had tripped over. “I didn’t see the root. I...” She would shake her head, giving a low growl. That part was none of his business. He didn’t need to know how she longed for those from her past.

Gaze would shift back to the golden boy, her body still quite tense. “...why do you care?” Her words were still edgy, some defenses naturally slipping into place. If he dared... If he dared...! Let him come! She would take him out, leg injured or not!

Sorrel wasn't exactly the greatest healer in the world when it came to bedside manner. Many perhaps would have opened with the fact that they could help, offered some sort of reassurance that they weren't there to harm them any further. Not Sorrel though, the woman had a reason to be wary, she was injured at a stranger now stood before her, his intentions completely unknown.

Sorrel of course didn't see things from her point of view. She was just being awkward and unnecessarily hostile in his opinion. It was almost as though he thought she ought to know right off the bat that he was there to help and ought to cooperate as best as she could. Truly they probably were not the greatest patient and doctor pairing in this world though they were stuck with each other for now.

"I'm a healer." He responded. He wasn't a fighter though, he wouldn't go too close to her just yet though he vowed in that moment that if she didn't just stand still and let him look at the damn leg then he didn't care what Ellingham said, he was going home! "Now will you let me look or shall I just go and leave you to suffer?"

The female would not move, even as the young man said that he was a healer. A healer... such a thing was, in her mind, harder to fathom. Someone who didn't want to fight. Perhaps he knew them of poisons? Her ears would shift a few times in uncertainty, trying to weigh the risks with the benefits. She would finally sigh and give in, speaking up. "Please look. I..." The words she wanted to speak were heavy on her tongue. Apologizing was not always so easy. But this young man had done nothing to personally offend her so she owed him one, right?

"I am sorry for being snappy." It wasn't like she had all that many friends or allies in this damn place anymore. Not many that she could trust. She would glance to the owl for a moment and then back to Sorrel, taking a breath and then exhaling. "Just please... no sudden movements, hun. I get uneasy rather easily." The female would give a small flick of her tail, waiting for the golden male to approach.

"Listen to me talk,"'but read my thoughts.'

In many ways Sorrel wasn't exactly the nicest wolf in the world. He wasn't friendly, he could be a bit blunt and stand-offish and liked his alone time very much. He certainly wasn't really a cruel wolf, he wasn't even entirely careless, even in his most selfish moments he would offer help when he could, like right now for example. Ellingham may have been his moral compass there though Sorrel wouldn't have ever brought further harm to Marina or probably anyone for that matter. There was not a killer instinct lying anywhere within the young healer.

He wouldn't respond to any of her words or requests verbally, though he probably took notice of her warning, not quite enjoying the idea of the weird woman taking a bite out of him just because he was trying to help. Somewhere within his mind a thought begged to be spoken aloud, that she should stop being so uneasy if she wanted help from him then but it remained unspoken.

"Where does it hurt? How bad is the pain?" He questioned as he began to move a little closer to begin his examination. Perhaps he'd have to send Ellingham off to find something to give her for the pain and maybe swelling.

Rainbow would watch, breathing slowly in and out as she looked at the male. He would approach, definitely keeping in mind her request to move slowly so he did not startle her -- thank goodness. The female would look down at her leg, giving a soft whine. It hurt. Definitely not broken, but likely sprained. "It is my ankle that is hurting the most..." She would say. Every instinct was telling her to run away from this golden male, to run away and never look back. But if she did that then she would hardly get treatment for her leg, now would she? Rainbow would breathe out, tensing some the closer he got. Trust... she needed to trust. A whine would leave her maw, almost barely audible. "It hurts..." She would say, almost like a child. She would shiver some, trying to keep herself together. Breaking down in front of this young man would do her no good at all.

Her ankle hurt the most, eyes glanced to the good leg for a moment, though there seemed to be no signs of swelling just yet, the injury too recent at the moment though he'd assume she'd twisted it in some manner if she had caught it upon the root. Her answer was less than helpful however and wouldn't make Sorrel's approach any friendlier.

"How much does it hurt?" His tone was slightly more irritable now as he switched his gaze back up to the colourful woman's face. "On a scale of one to ten?" He prompted, it'd help him work out how severe the pain was, how much of a herb he would need to give her to help. At this rate though, he was still seriously considering simply leaving her to suffer. Stupid bird was nothing but trouble sometimes. "Can you put any pressure on it or move it at all?"

His tone became slightly more irritable, something within her shifting with a prickle of fear and perhaps an ounce of agitation. The word threat tried to rise in her mind, screaming at her to run, to fight, to do something other than just stand there. But she was still in control for now, and not the beast that resided within her very core. She would think for a moment before answering him. "Maybe a five?" She would say slowly, almost as if not sure herself. She didn't know how to gauge pain... she just knew if it hurt that it hurt! The femme would give a small sigh, trying to set the limb down. At least that showed she could move it.

"I can put pressure on it... but it makes the pain worse..." The female would say slowly. Her gaze would shift back to the healer, her body still somewhat tense. Her tail would flick back and forth in a worried manner, head tilting to the side ever so slightly. "Do you... know what can help it?" She would ask lightly. She was unsure, so very unsure. Her heart would pang in her chest and long for simpler days. Why did things have to be so much more complex? Back then there was no need to worry about strangers... nor of injury... but now...

Sorrel probably wouldn't start a fight with anyone, he was in his own way a very peaceful person. Despite his bad temper he was the kind who much preferred to go off and sulk alone than take a chunk out of anyone. Rainbow may not have felt it right at that moment, but she really was safe with the young healer.  "Try rest then, keep pressure off it." He informed her simply, a fact that she had likely discovered herself. "You will make it worse otherwise." Rest would definitely help when she could get it, possibly hard to come by for a loner but he'd give her the advice anyway.

He turned his back on her now, with no plants on hand and Threar stores further away than he would have liked he'd have to see what he could find for Rainbow here in Redbud Nook. He conversed for a moment with Ellingham, sending the owl one way and paused for only a moment to glance back to Rainbow to issue her a command. "Wait here." It was about the only explanation she was going to get from him.

Ooc:: Sorry hun! I forgot about this thread! D:

Rainbow would give a small nod, making sure to keep the pressure off the injured limb. So she would need to rest... Not work too hard if she could help it. That would make travel difficult, especially for a loner in her predicament. The female would continue to eye the young man quietly, watching as he turned for a moment. Was he... Conversing with the owl? How strange! The female would breathe in some, waiting as quietly as she could.

When the young man turned back to her it was a pair of simple words that he said. Wait here. The female would flick her ears a couple times. Wait...? “A-alright...” She would shift a little bit, watching the young man. “Please don’t be too long...” There was a knot of anxiety in her stomach. She hated this feeling... Feeling so helpless...
