Borealis

"fortitudem et honorem"

Borealis is a true neutral pack with no leanings towards light or darkness. Borealis wolves are wolves of honor, wolves of valor. Holding a militaristic viewpoint, the Emperor expects all members to at least know the basics of battle and all members must be able to defend the pack and themselves should the situation arise. Borealis focuses on strength and honor. Loyalty is a key component to Borealis, as is the idea of pack as a whole. Members are expected to interact with each other.

Pack color: #78AE7E
Claimed territories: Whispering Caves and Fern Gulley
Former leaders: Arian [first formed as Sonticus], Cypress [turned into Borealis, has Marina as secondary], Marina

PACK RANKS

TIER 1
Imperator (1) – Ruler of Borealis. He holds absolute authority.
Vita (1) – The successor of Borealis. If the Imperator is unable to rule, then the Vita will step up as the new ruler.
TIER 2
Magister (1) – The head healer of Borealis. This wolf is responsible for the healers of Borealis, and is expected to hold trainings as well as assign apprentices to Capsarior. This wolf has all the privileges of being a Tier 2.
Princeps (1) – The head fighter of Borealis. This wolf is responsible for the fighters of Borealis, and is expected to hold trainings as well as assign apprentices to Triarii. This wolf has all the privileges of being a Tier 2.
Legatus (1) – The Imperator's advisor. This wolf is the one closest to the Imperator, and is expected to know the diplomatic position of the pack such as relations. This wolf should know the inner workings of the pack and keeps an eye on what the Imperator cannot. This wolf has all the duties and responsibilities of a tier two.
TIER 3
name (∞) – expert healer
name (∞) – expert warrior
name (2) – head assassin/ spy
TIER 4
Capsarior (∞) – Wolves who have completed healer training. They are expected to be on call at all times. They may be assigned apprentices; if so, they must train with that apprentice once a season. They must attend all healing trainings and hunts called by a Tier 2+
Triarii (∞) – Wolves who are now fully trained in the arts of war. They have not roven themselves yet, though it is clear they are ready to. They will be assigned apprentices and must train those apprentices at least once a season. They must attend all fight trainings and hunts called by Tier 2+
Venator (5) – Wolves that feel they do not fit the healer or fighter ranks. Their sole duty is to provide for the pack and to assist the Triarii and Capsarior. Any of these wolves may call hunts, and they must attend any hunts called.
* Inquisitor (2) – These wolves are special - they are the investigators, the spies. Very few in the pack know of the duties of these wolves. These wolves will have another, outward duty, and may often be away from the pack. When not away from the pack their duties include patrolling and hunting. They are expected to attend all fight trainings and hunts called, unless told otherwise. This rank cannot be challenged for or requested.
.....................this is kind of a secret rank
TIER 5
Capsarii (∞) – Wolves training to be healers. They will be assigned a mentor and are expected to train with that mentor once a season minimum, until they are fit to promote. They are required to answer all trainings called by the Magister and the Capsarior.
Hastati (∞) – Wolves training to be warriors. They will be assigned a mentor and are expected to train with that mentor at least once a season, until they are fit to promote. They are required to answer all the calls of the Triarii and the Princeps.
Alicus (3) – Wolves who don't wish to train to be a fighter or healer, but rather another rank - either an Inquisitor or a Venator. These wolves are required to attend all hunts and fight trainings.
TIER 6
Civis (∞) – Unranked wolves. All you are is a citizen, doing nothing for the pack. Go do something! It's believed that if you're this rank you can't decide what to do - so guess what, you have to attend all trainings. Have fun! And make up your mind!
Novellus (∞) – The children of the pack.
TIER 7
Vinctus (∞) – A prisoner of war. You'll be treated with respect, but don't try to escape.
Thrall (∞) – A slave.

Pack Rules, Culture, & History

Laws

ONE -- The Imperator's word is law
TWO -- Tresspassers may be claimed, maimed, or chased off. Up to whoever finds them first
THREE -- No starting wars. Or getting into bloody familiar feuds with wolves in another pack. You compromise Borealis, you are gone
FOUR -- Pack stays pack. You don't share pack information with outsiders, outside basic information for recruitment purposes.
FIVE -- No starting feuds in the pack either. Borealis is a pack of unity - not discord.
SIX -- You may have any mate you wish, though your mate is expected to join Borealis. All children of a Borealis wolf - whether fathered or mothered - belongs to Borealis. Period.
SEVEN -- Respect is something you ought to learn here.
EIGHT -- The breaking of oaths, betrayal of information, and other such breaches of honor will be dealt with swiftly and fiercely. You really don't want to do this.
NINE -- Trainings ought to be held once a season.
TEN -- If you have an apprentice you need to train with them. Actual threads, with the same requirements as skills.

Traditions

LUDI -- The ludi are public games and competitions that the pack of Borealis will open up to all packs and wolves of Alacritia. Pup, fighter, healer, hunter - there's something for you. Compete against other packs, and against wolves of your own pack to see who's the best of the best!
TRIUMPH -- This is the highest honor a Borealis wolf can recieve. No non-pack wolf may receive this honor. There would be a ceremony, where the honored one will walk along a set trail, followed by his or her companions in their field (for example, a Triarii will be accompanied by other soldiers). The honored one would be presented with a freshly killed large prey animal, and then a feast would commence, followed by games.
