A better day

Dark russet paws carried him easily through the snow, his pale blue eyes searching for his brother, Satoshi. Surely he would be nearby? The two were never really separated all that much, and not being around him bothered Katsuro. When the male saw the big cat, he froze, his ears flattening on his skull and his heart beginning to pound. After a few moments, the male moved away from the creature, his paws carrying him backwards and crunching against the frozen ground. When the creature spoke, Katsuro stopped in his tracks once more, but the creature seemed to have not noticed him. Maybe that was for the best, that the slightly taller creature didn't see him. If it decided to give chase, the male wouldn't stand a chance against the creature and its speed. Still, curiosity was getting the better of him. Although he wasn't going to move any closer, his head tilted slightly. The cat like thing was interesting, at least.

The cat bounced towards him, and Katsuro's ears flattened in fear. The cat wasn't much taller than the male, but one glance at the claws could show that the cat could still do more damage than he. The cat said something, words he didn't understand, and Katsuro tilted his head. The other swatted at him, and Katsuro backed away even more, his eyes wide with fear. Was this cat going to toy with him before it killed him? The male moved away from the strange creature that seemed to only be able to move by leaping or bouncing. What was this creature, anyways?
"Nani?" His voice came out cracked, and he didn't know if the other would even understand him. Maybe the creature spoke his other tongue as well. If so, then it was full of surprises.
