She had truly outdone herself this time. Once again, the pale she-wolf was lost, and in a forest no less. And not just any forest, no, that would be too easy. She'd gotten turned around one too many times in none other than the Soulless Forest, home to dense fog and tangled roots just waiting to trip her up. Her light blue eyes had never served her at full capacity, and at present she felt as if she were looking through a layer of murky water what with how distorted her surroundings seemed. Add on top of this her complete lack of a sense of direction, and the female was nothing short of forsaken.

"Trees, trees everywhere. And they all look the same..." came her worried muttering, followed by a defeated sigh. She'd been trapped in the endless maze of twisted branches and constant silence for a good majority of the day after having thought cutting throught it would be a good shortcut to the Rio Grande. Nevermind that the Rio was nowhere near the Soulless Forest, no sense of direction, remember? One turn led to another and before she knew it she didn't know which way was north or south, let alone forward or back. Maybe if she asked someone for directions... Oh wait, she was alone. Of course. Well, Plan B it was, then.

With the grace only a practiced lady could possess, Felicitas padded up to the nearest tree and sank down onto her haunches, plush tail placed neatly beside dainty forepaws. Blue eyes surveyed her surroundings with their usual steady calm, with just a spark of hope that someone would happen by and tell her how to get somewhere, anywhere, so long as it would outside of the confusing labrynth. She would wait the remainder of the day, and even into the night if she must. She was a seasoned player of the waiting game, after all.

Or so hideous

He hobbled through the forest, blindly, near blind eyes guiding him as best as they could through the fog, glowing faintly in the haze. Helen my love, guide me from the stars." He thought, staring hopelessly into the canopy of the trees. He was lost, something that mattered little to a rogue like him, he simply had no idea where he was headed, a very distressing thought, but far from being as desperate as being lost. By chance he happened upon the scent of another wolf, and thought momentarily of turning tail and hiding before they witnessed his disgusting figure. But he needed them, he could hardly maneuver in this fog, much less find his way out of it. He'd need a set of eyes.

Slowly he broke through the fog, approaching the ghastly white figure. A female. He would have to surrender his horrid visage to a female of all things. He thought about turning back but by now she had most likely spotted him. Slowly he stepped out of the fog, standing proudly on all three paws as he towered over her. "Hello." He wheezed in greeting, his voice chalky and rough from the hell he had endured.

She hadn't had to wait long. Only a few short moments had passed before, lo and behold, someone appeared. The she-wolf could tell straight off that something was wrong with the stranger despite her only being able to see its silhouette. The way it was shaped and the way it moved gave the impression that it was either seriously wounded, or somehow crippled. And as the stranger- a male, if her nose served her true- she could tell that it was the latter. His left foreleg was missing all the way up to the juncture that met with the shoulder, and a good majority of his coat was missing, seemingly burned away. He wasn't a pretty sight, far from it, but he wasn't horrendous to behold, either. Simply... intriging, in a gruesome sort of way. Akin to being fascinated with battle scars or someone's fifth appendage.

He'd spoken. A simple greeting, but said in such a tone that she found herself at a loss for words. Had the damage done to this poor soul truly gone so far as to damage his voice as well? As was always the case when her tenacious siblings had recieved wounds of their own- be they physical or otherwise- Felicites felt her compassion rising like a tide within her chest, welling up over the brim and pouring forth to consuming her whole. "Hello to you as well, sir. " came her melodic response, blue orbs softening as they gazed up at the brute towering above them. She felt drawfed besid him, much like a child feels beside their parent, but she'd always been the smallest out of a family of giants, so the sensation was nothing new. "My name is Felicitas. Might I be so bold as to inquire about your own?" All thoughts of asking for directions were gone and out the window. She'd gone into her 'maternal mode' as her siblings had always put it, and so long as her feelings of sympathy and compassion persisted, she would continue to put her own needs aside.

Or so hideous

He gave a slight nod, a mere bob of his head before he spoke "Prospero." He croaked. Even now in such a dire situation his mind couldn't help but wander back to his late wife, a beautiful ebony beast that stole his heart the moment he saw her, but now was no time for sentimentality. The silver wolf looked her over and spoke softly yet again "Lost?" He inquired, choking on the word midway through. He could feel her eyes searching over him, examining his injuries and scars, but...Not with horror, with what seemed to be misplaced adoration, the same way females fawned over the battle scars of warriors, she seemed to fawn over his, not that they spoke of any great battles. Just sheer dumb luck. A shy, almost bashful expression crossed his features at the thought. Could she have mistaken him for a warrior? Perish the thought...But....Could she? He dared not ask, he dared not assault her lovely ears with the horrid din of his voice, not unless he needed to.

Prospero. What a unique name. She couldn't help but wonder if it had a specific meaning as hers did. Such thoughts were cut short when he asked her if she was lost with one simple croak of his broken tone. Ah, she'd been caught. Though sitting off to the side in such an open place, looking every bit the helpless maiden, probably gave her away. She could feel her face heating up under her ghostly pelt while blue eyes blinked in suppressing embarrassment. "Oh, um... Heh, yes. Very much so." she confessed while scuffing a forepaw against the dirt; a nervouc habit she'd developed at a young age.

"Um... You wouldn't happen to know which direction is north, would you?" she finally asked with an apologetic smile. How childish of her to not only be realized for what she was- truly and hopelessly lost- but have to ask directions in the same moment? Her impression on the brute was ruined, surely.

Or so hideous

He examined the surroundings quickly until his eyes fell on the trunk of an old tree. Moss. Just what he needed. He looked back at the female and gestured her to follow him. He didn't know what was in the North that she needed to reach, all he knew of the North was cold and ice, a place he could never survive in with half of his skin showing. He slowed partway, to stay at her side. He had found his bearings but was still blind in the mist, he'd need her to guide him at least partially if they ever wanted to see the sun again.

Ah, splendid. Now she at least knew what direction they were facing. Quite the nifty trick he'd done with the moss, why hadn't she ever thought of it before? Well, this was her first time on her own, for one. Three years old and she'd never had to rely on herself before. Quite pathetic, really. So to say she grateful for the giant brute's help would be an understatement.

"Thank you. Directions have never been my strong point, you see. I could get lost in a den, I'd wager." A soft chuckle filled her throat as she got to her paws and came to stand beside Prospero, blue eyes never leaving his scarred face as they attempted to convey her gratitude. "Now, is there anything I could assist you with? To repay your kindness?" Surely there must be something she could do for him. Her mother had taught her to always repay her debts, especially if the boon granted to you was a selfless one. And if anything, Felicitas was a dutiful daughter.

Or so hideous

He let her babel on as they walked, he supposed it kept him from feeling lonely or awkward in her company. She asked if she could repay him, to which he responded with a slow shake of his head. Unless she could make his leg grow back there was nothing she had that he wanted. Well. He supposed he would need help seeing, but that was it. "Guide me." He croaked, his eyes never leaving the path in front of him. As long as they headed North the forest would end and they would go their separate ways like so many wolves had before. He was sure this would be no different.

It was a simple enough request to guide him. Felicitas felt a bit ashamed that she hadn't thought that he'd have vision problems as well, what with how he was blind in one eye. In fact, she hadn't been giving any of his marks much thought. Oh, she'd acknowledged them, to be sure, but she saw them as bits and pieces of who he was, not deformities. Nonetheless, she kept pace with him, her shorter legs working to keep stride with his far longer three.

A silence overcame them after that, something all to common within the Soulless Forest and it's lack of noise polution. Normally she would have no problem letting a conversation die; some creatures simply weren't eager to reciprocate her attempts at chatter. But something compelled her to once more break the silence, even if it meant taking up the majority of what was being said. "So, might I ask what brought you to the forest?"

Or so hideous

He wasn't too eager to speak again, to have her listen to the awful scratching that made his voice, to force her to endeavor through the croaks and groans of his speech, but what kind of a person would he be if he didn't respond. "Traveling." He said, meandering through the forest with his shoulder brushing against hers, the only way he had of knowing he was on the right path. He was helpless as a wolf in these woods. He was near blind, could barely run, could barely bite, and knew nothing of healing. No pack would want him, no pack would find him useful, he barely got by on his own, and if it hadn't been for the survival techniques he had learned from being a rouge he would be lost. It was only by sheer dumb luck that he managed to find help in the form of another wolf.

Traveling. A vague answer, but an answer nonetheless, and one that she would have to be content with. "Any particular location?" she pressed on, hoping to draw more out of him and bring him out of the shell he seemed determined to reside in. "I have no real destination myself, so if you have somewhere in mind mayhaps we can go together?" At this she pressed up closer to his shoulder in a reassuring manner, hoping to let him know her words were sincere. Surely every creature needed companionship, even misfits such as themselves; the rogues and loners of the world. It would be a nice change of pace to keep company with someone, anyone, for any amount of time. Solitude didn't compliment her well. "That is, if you'd have me, of course." For all she knew, he would her unpleasant, maybe even annoying with her constant chatter and ditzy ways.

Or so hideous
He turned his head to look at her. There was nowhere in particular he was headed, nowhere he needed to be, nowhere he needed to go, He shook his head slowly in response and plodded on, her next question however caught her attention. Traveling together. He supposed there was nothing wrong with that. "Okay." He mumbled. Plodding on at an uneven pace.
