Now that things had settled down in Yfir, there was one thing nagging at the back of Kapra's mind.

He barely knew his nephew.

It seemed he was closer to Katja than himself, which was both understandable and entirely excusable. And while he was rarely a creature to dwell on the past, and certainly not prone to regret, he really wished he had gotten to know Laufey sooner. He was the only one left here, besides Katja, that was his flesh and blood. Not just that - but he was Jaeger's child. The brother he had loved more fiercely than he had admitted to anyone, a secret known only to the gods and himself, and very likely a secret he would take to his grave.

And despite this, there was so much that Laufey did not know. Did his nephew wonder about his father, and the kind of man that he was? Did he care at all? He was so different from Katja and even from himself. Curious, Kaprasíus would wander through the tall redwood trees, his lanky form moving quietly as he trailed after Laufey's scent. Only when his nephew appeared in the distance would he lift his head, tail waving in a pleased motion behind him.

"Laufey!" he called out, his tones light though his lyrics were far less manic than if he'd come across a stranger. Single working eye would fixate on him as he drew closer. "How is life in Yfir treating you, nephew?"

OOC: short tag is short >.<

Laufey's name on the breeze drew his heavy head around. As soon as he lay eyes on the one who had summoned him his features brightened considerably. "Kaprasius," he greeted in a low, grumbly voice. His lips lifted in a toothy grin and he trotted forward to meet his uncle halfway. Behind him, his tail beat up a lazy breeze. He didn't know this man well, but he was family; something the giant accepted wholeheartedly.

How was Yfirian life treating him? Easy question. "Mmm," he grunted with some amusement, his thoughts drifting to Vereux and the little mouthy healer. "I think I'm making friends," he said dryly. Seeking to bump his shoulder against Kapra's as he came alongside him, Laufey asked, "What of you, uncle?"

Around family, he was a different beast entirely - it seemed the Finnvi name, and the presence of his family, was the only thing that kept him grounded in this reality. His manic demeanor would falter slightly as he approached Laufey, as though the very presence of his kin forced him into a sense of calm that he could not muster otherwise.

His nephew seemed pleased to be approached, and he would return the grin with one of his own. He was beyond happy that his nephew had accepted he and Katja as family without hesitation. His head would dip in a quiet greeting as the distance between them closed, glad to return the light shoulder bump before pulling away.

"Are you?" he replied, nothing the amusement flickering in Laufey's eyes, and laughing softly in response. Truthfully, the only other wolves he knew were Katja and Hypnos.  "I am happy to return to the north," he acknowledged with a nod.  "This reminds me much more of the home of my childhood." He would study the man with his one working eye, his head cocking as he studied Laufey's face.

"Are you?" At this Laufey just grinned and said nothing. He supposed he liked the little healer lady in a way, but he wouldn't go so far as to call her a friend. Yet. And as for Vereux? Well, 'friend' was definitely not the word he'd use. Sadly, not even 'rival' covered the feelings between them.

Kaprasius answered his question and in doing so gave Laufey a tiny glimpse into Finnvi life. He envied his uncle. Envied the life he'd lived, the culture he'd been raised in. He'd grown up with a purpose and a people; a family. Where had Laufey's family been? Where was his heritage, his purpose?

"What was it like, Kaprasius?" he asked eagerly. "Where you're from, I mean. And our family too." He had so many questions. Finally it was time to ask. He didn't really care so much about his father. Rather, he wanted to know about the Finnvis as a whole.

How would things be, he wondered, had Jaeger remained to care for his children? Would he have remained with Katja as he did? He knew there was no reason for regret, as the gods doubtlessly had planned for this course of events to happen, and so he would not dwell on the past for long.

Truthfully, he had no time to think on such things - for Laufey quickly grew interested in his quiet musings. His grin would return, lopsided but quite genuine, far from the normal cheeky smirk he wore. "What do you want to know?" he would inquire, honestly curious and willing to share with Laufey as much as his nephew wanted to know. "Surely you are not terribly interested in the actual lands we lived in and claimed as our own?" There was so much he could tell him, but where to begin? What interested him? He knew little of what Katja herself had taught him. "How much do you know of our gods?" he would inquire finally, his tone gentle. He had no doubt that Laufey was willing to learn and absorb any information presented him, but it would be hard to explain even half of it so soon. He had missed out on so much. He had not lived like he and Katja had - and Kapra could only hope that Laufey knew fully the life he had entered into.
