Just kept coming apart

To say that he had been feeling a little bit down after the raid was an understatement, for quite a while the boy had felt completely useless. Keeping to himself and trying to figure out what on earth he was going to do to redeem himself. The pack had rushed to defend their land, even his little brother amongst them but Aslan had been kept behind.
He hadn't understood the reasoning behind this decision at the time and the days following the raid had left him in a bitter state of confusion. Of course he knew now that it was to protect his mother, a fact that should have filled him with pride instead but he was still disappointed in himself. A body guard hadn't been needed, he could have surely done better fighting at the borders with the others? Of course he would have been appalled had someone slipped past and begun fighting further into the lands, targeting his mother or someone else less able to fight but his emotions all mixed up at the moment such reasonable facts just weren't settling quite right, feeling that he hadn't been any help at all.

Certainly she should have faced down those that would steal from them and harm them as a pack and fought against them, right? These thoughts drove her forwards at a furious pace, propelling her through the pack lands as if attempting to outrun her guilt. The girl slowed only when a familiar scent hit her and Luck stopped for a moment. Bright blues scanned for her brother, finally spotting his dark shape she approached him.
She could not guess at the feelings he held but what she knew for certain was that she needed to confide in someone. “Hey.” She called softly, though loud enough he should hear her. There was a slight waver to her sweet voice, an ever so subtle crack.

Aslan was rather caught up in his own little world of self disappointment and misery, so much in fact that he hadn't really noticed that there were some others in the pack that shared within his little turmoil. He would have sharply justified their absences for various reasons, but he was somewhat capable as a fighter, at least he felt so anyway, so surely he should have been there with them all?
Quietly he continued onwards through the pack lands, still not entirely certain what to do with himself for the day though currently completely distracted by those thoughts of nothing. At first he didn't notice Luck's form moving to catch up to him and even as she spoke it took a moment for him to register that the little squeaky noise was in fact the voice of someone speaking to him.
Mismatched eyes would turn their gaze towards the dainty figure now, she looked rather sheepish he thought, and now he'd be left distracted, wondering what on earth his little sister could have possibly done. "Hey" He greeted in return with a soft nuzzle to the top of her head. "Are you ok?"
