Sirius had been tasked with patrolling the border with Evangeline, one of the Rex's children. She didn't know the girl well, but they were peers and Siri knew her well enough to have what she considered to be a firm grasp of the Haeres' personality. They weren't what one would call friends and there was still quite a bit more to learn about one another before the status of their relationship could be decided. Honestly? The yearling was having some misgivings about this whole thing. Where Sirius was quiet and reserved, Evangeline seemed to be loud and showy. They appeared to be opposites in many things and the young Armada wasn't entirely sure them being together was a good idea. Nevertheless, she would do as she was told. She settled in at the base of a mulberry tree to await the arrival of her partner. The sun was setting behind her and the air, which had grown uncomfortably warm during the day, was beginning to cool. Already the nighttime chorus had begun; the crickets and cicadas both squalling loudly for attention. The sporadic glow of fireflies could bee seen across the whole of the terra. It was nice, she supposed, picturesque even. Hopefully the same could be said about the patrol once it was said and done.

The prospect of the patrol she'd been assigned had Vana in a great mood once again. After all, her daddy had trusted her and Sirius to do the patrol on their own, even though they were both only students. All the other yearlings were assigned to adults, but she had been trusted. Well, and Sirius. She came to an elegant stop beneath the mulberry tree, tail curving about her hips. "Are you ready to go, Sirius?" Without waiting for an answer, she stepped out again to follow the border at a very purposeful march. She was determined for this patrol to go well. If it did, surely it would just justify her father's trust in her and lead to even more responsibilities to earn his approval. "And how have you and your siblings been?" she asked belatedly over her shoulder in an attempt at polite small talk. She hadn't really seen a whole lot of the Armada kids at all, except occasionally Sirius or Atreides at meetings, or at least she didn't think she'd seen the others... not that she made a concerted effort to pay attention to who showed up at meetings.
