He looked absolutely dreadful.

It wasn't in that "I haven't eaten in weeks" kind of awful but more of "I haven't groomed my pelt properly in ages" kind of disheveled look that made him look like a walking bush. He'd been "cursed" (as he liked to call it) with an unnaturally thick and fluffy pelt that could only come from having two arctic born wolves as his parents. Between the thick fur that covered his body and the foot fluff that made his feet twice as large as they actually were, he looked like a fish out of water in warmer climates. He even had a sort of beard fluff under his chin! So to put it in short terms he had twigs, leaves, and an assortment of dirt that clung to his pelt. In his mind there wasn't too much of an incentive to clean himself he was just going to continue traveling anyways.

He had absolutely no clue where he was heading. It'd been years since he'd been here and he'd been so young it wouldn't have mattered. He had no idea where he was going, but he knew it was futile to be hopeful that things were the same as when he'd left. Eventually he hoped to return north, but for now he was content to travel. When he'd left there had been very minimal knowledge about the packs dotting the lands, and now it was even worse. He couldn't join one without first learning of each of them so he was on a mission to visit at least a few of them until he found one he liked.

After exiting the desert (which he'd absolutely hated) he'd headed east as fast as possible not wanting to be in the heat any longer. He wasn't overly fond of the dry sand and the hot air so he hadn't stuck around too long. Summer was just beginning after all and it was only going to get worse as the season progressed. At least with the comfort of trees and other plants (he was thankful to finally see the color green again) he felt better. It wasn't cold but it was an improvement. This particular area was quite pleasing and little did he know that the area he had entered was called Fern Gulley. Ferns and other colorful plants dotted the area. Occasionally he'd slow to sniff a flower before heading on. His stomach rumbled but he knew better than to try and eat anything. He'd learned early on not everything was edible and he wasn't going to play the guessing game. Plants weren't his thing.

Finally he slowed deciding it was best to take a break. He'd been walking for a while and he was beginning to get irritated with all the things hitching a ride in his fur. It made him feel quite gross. So he came to a stop and planted his rump to the ground before starting with the twigs. He picked those out with his teeth and then went to work on the leaf bits and other debris. He wasn't going to be very clean, but clean enough that he didn't feel like he had an extra five pounds from everything in his fur.
