When A Wolf Falls In A Forest...

The fresh, damp scents of a multitude of herbs and flowers drew the curious explorer to the Fern Gulley. Her sturdy paws brought her to the uppermost range of the overgrown gorge, a vantage point from which she could take in the phenomenal view. Below was a stunning array of colorful life, swathed in a light mist that held mysteries Esarosa was keen to uncover. Tail waving behind her, the midnight-coated woman plunged down the slope which would lead her to the deepest parts of the gulley. The growth here was thick, but it grew tall and she didn't find her paws tangling in it, which was a relief. She was a fairly clumsy wolf at times, and she preferred to be able to see the sights without having to watch where her paws were ending up. As she trotted along, she was found there was little relief from the summer heat - she'd been hoping it would be cooler beneath the shade of the growth, but the day was a humid one, and the thick vegetation almost seemed to retain the heat. She paused suddenly in her tracks when she noticed the scent of another wolf, and curious as always, she decided she would find out who it was. It wasn't long before her ears would perk to the sound of claws scrabbling and tree bark creaking. Esa raced forward until she had nearly reached the wall of the narrow gulley - there she found a young lady trying to climb the rather steep embankment. She couldn't help but to let out a snort of laughter. Where was she trying to get to? When the wolf finally made her landing after her claws slid through the mud, Esa made her approach. "It's no use, that mud's way too slick," she said in a matter-of-fact tone, "Besides, why are you trying to go up there anyways?" Her head was tilted as she looked at the other she-wolf. It had been a while since she'd met anyone younger than herself, so she was curious to see how this encounter would go. |
