Valentine stood tall and still as he regarded the crippled woman, only the slow rise and fall of his ribs and the gentle, cat-like flicking of his tail betraying the life that lurked beneath the statuesque front. His face was an indiscernible mask, his emotions hidden well. He watched as she approached, let her step closer to him as if her very presence wasn't sacrilegious.

His ears flicked back as her words hit home. This had been his home. He had many miserable and wonderful memories of this place. Much had happened here. He'd reunited with his mother, grown stronger, grown wiser and older, and the idea of running his own pack had taken root here. This was also the last place his mother had been. Arian was not worthy of even placing a paw on Arcanum's old grounds. "I don't believe that is any of your business."
