Now, while Hypnos had made an error in thinking he could get under the other man without any trouble, he wasn’t completely foolish. Hy knew his own weakness, his back right leg, and the moment the change to his {Hypnos’} right was detected the man went on the defensive.
Hypnos would push with his hind legs against the ground, shifting his weight as he sought to spin his body so that his body was perpendicular with Hárekr’s own. As his right hind leg left the ground he would feel fangs try to grab onto his leg below the ankle and around the paw. Luckily, with the momentum he had he was able to pull it free, but not unscathed. Deep cuts, severe for the area, were left just below the ankle and down along the outermost and innermost toe.
Due to his shifted position the rest of the male’s attacks would miss, and Hypnos would taste blood as his first assault gained him lacerations along Hárekr’s lower right belly.
The second wave of attacks needed to begin.
Hypnos kept his eyes narrowed the whole while, his ears pinned. He had come to a temporary stop when he skidding his back half around, redistributing his weight upon widened limbs. Hackles remained raised, shoulders rolled forward, and tail tucked beneath his body. A snarl ripped from his lips, head lowered to his spine to act. Claws bit into the earth, knees bending once more as Hypnos made an effort to slam into Háre’s body.
Hypnos was seeking to throw his weight into the front half of his body, lifting his right foreleg to slam outward upon Hárekr’s back right outermost toes {the end two}. He sought severe bruising, nothing more. This was but a spar after all. Finally his jaws would once more seek the open lacerations of Hárekr’s lower right side.
