Keep Pushing

Tiny was resting on Akemi’s back, curled up in a ball as he clung to her fur. He’d been quiet in the summer heat and Akemi wondered if it would have been better to leave him behind in the den. She would breathe in and then out, slowly, catching a scent. Could it really be...? Her single eye would widen, and Akemi would press on through the valley until she saw her. Zisa. Her little girl. Akemi would break into a trot, coming up beside her weary daughter. “If you keep going straight you’re going to hit a pond.” The femme would say gently, knowing that her daughter needed to take care of her need of water before they spoke of others things. |
