Atreides marched along side his sister with his tail wagging and a broad grin on his face. Valen was leading them to war. He and Integra would get the chance to prove themselves to Valen and to the pack as worthy members. He would get recognized as a warrior like his father. It was what he'd spent his whole life longing for. What he'd spent his whole life preparing for. He cast his olivine gaze up to the sky searchingly a moment - would his father be proud of him? Would his mother? Were they watching over their children now?
He brought his gaze back down as they passed Hellstrom's border, and stopped to wait. The wait wasn't long - but words had barely been exchanged when Hati dropped his mask and went roaring after the opposing alpha. Trei stepped forward to where Hati had been, standing protectively over the skull he'd helped Hati retrieve from where Daegmar - the woman who had trained Atreides and his siblings after their father died, even though she hadn't had to - had killed the bear that had ultimately been her death. His eyes roved over the embattled wolves, seeking an opening of his own. Witness me, father, he sent the thought winging upward, for today I will prove myself as your son.
