Her wanderings had brought her back to where Threar had once reigned, believing her life would return to normal the moment she returned home. To her dismay, it was empty. It felt strange crossing over the faded borders and sauntering through the territories that were usually bustling with family. The creeping loneliness brought a shudder to her form, giving her the impulse to turn and flee, running away from the unwanted memories. Everyone had vanished into thin air, leaving stale scents and an abandoned Varda behind. The realisation deflated her. She had been abandoned. How could her family do that?
Even memories flooded back to her mind. As she gracefully crept deeper into the forest, approaching the waterfall, she heard the giggling of a little girl. Curious, she peered between the trees to see alabaster forms ahead, unaware of the trick played on her by her mind. When she emerged from the tree line in a daze, she briefly caught the sight of the pallid canines that she had seen before, knowing exactly who they were. The one around her size was her mother, while the tiny pup beside her was...her! They both sat beside the stream, chattering quietly amongst themselves. "Mother!" Overjoyed, she called out to the woman. "It's me, I'm home!" She rushed up only to realise the two wolves had taken no notice of her. Confusion was scribbled all over her features. It was like she wasn't there...or maybe they weren't there. In a split second, they faded from her vision and they were replaced with a masked male seated by the stream. Oh, not again. She totally hadn't made a fool of herself again. Tears stung at her eyes, and she made brief eye contact with the stranger before this time truly fleeing.
