Monkey see, monkey do not

Odysseus lay stretched out with a rabbit clutched between his forepaws. Purposefully he plucked at its fur; tearing out mouthfuls and discarding the fluff carelessly. Little fuzzballs of rabbit fur drifted around the tiny clearing. They clung to the brute's nose, his whiskers and a scattered few managed to find purchase on some of his guard hairs. "That is disgusting and barbaric." Odysseus glanced up briefly before focusing his attention back on the kill. "How is it any different than you eating bugs?" Done with plucking, the brute tore into the tiny carcass. Olafur's nose wrinkled as his gaze followed a thin trail of blood as it dribbled onto the ground. "Bugs don't bleed." Unperturbed, Odysseus continued eating. He was making quick work of the rabbit. Between bites, he said, "No, but they do pop and ooze like pus-filled wounds." As an afterthought, he tacked on, "So there's that." "So crude, Odysseus." Crunching through the last of what he considered the edible bits, Odysseus let several seconds tick by before replying. He took his sweet time, even going as far as to lick his paws clean. Finally, cockily, he said, "Says the bug eater." |
