Were they friends? Odysseus supposed so. He'd had ample opportunities to eat the annoying little pest and hadn't, so sure, they were friends. Common interests had brought them together somehow and common interests were what kept them together. Odysseus wasn't sure he'd have ever tolerated the macaque otherwise. "Nah," he rumbled. "I keep him around in case I get hungry one of these days and don't feel like hunting. He's too fat to put up much of a fight." Olafur, well aware that his companion was joking, merely snorted and rolled his eyes. Odysseus waited just long enough to make Olafur start to wonder, then he admitted, "Yeah, we're friends." Besides, he doubted that Olafur would taste very good. |
