After he escaped the briar, he paced himself better. It was kind of difficult, considering restraint was one of his weakest points, but being a little uncertain of the place helped. But he was only a little uncertain – mostly certain. Thankfully, it turned out that he did know where it was, or else he probably would’ve gotten himself lost again. Upon seeing the distant lake, he sped up again. His angled and short body hugged close to the ground, rocketing forward with impressive speed and energy. He would probably be out of commission for the rest of the day though (not having proper nutrition certainly barred him from too many feats of physical excellence).

He ran and ran, his tongue flying out and flapping in the wind. When the lake began to come up too close too fast, he put on the brakes.  ”Finish line’s here!” he cried as he threw himself to the ground, tumbling and skidding a short distance to stop on the ground a couple of safe yards from the edge of the lake. No way he was running into that. He lay on the ground panting heavily, not minding too much that he was now decently bumped and bruised from his graceless and partially self-inflicted tumble. ”Woo!” he cried, kicking his back legs a few times in the air before settling down again. His throat burned a bit from all that, but it had been fun! ”What… what now, Háre?” he asked, softer and less shrilly than usual, mostly because of the heavy breaths that punctuated his speech. His head flopped limp on the ground, but his eyes roamed wildly in their sockets, looking for his new companion.
