Momentarily as the small female leaned on his flank, he turned his head towards the other voice he had just heard. A larger yet younger male approached them, stating that they knew each other. Was he her mate? It didn't seem likely by the way he addressed her; perhaps a friend? Well now wasn't the time to think about that; he had to help the woman.

Momentarily after they arrived in her den, he began to unpack his herb package, his companion camouflaging against his leg. When she replied to the boy's inquiry saying that she didn't have a mate, he couldn't help but to raise a brow with intrigue. It wasn't an uncommon situation, just rather foolish and cowardly on the father's behalf. Then again, his own parents had done the same, but that wasn't the point. It would make her job of nursing the pups harder, seeing as she'll be the only one able to feed and care them. Perhaps he could invite her to Donostrea - if his brothers allowed it - just until her children were old enough to fend for themselves.

As the tougher contractions shuddered through her body, he soothed, "Just take deep breaths." Looking down at his herbs, he gritted his teeth at the sight. He was low on trillium, and he had been saving it for a wound that may need cleaning - should the situation arise - and the birthing of his unborn nieces or nephews. What was he to do? Use his supplies on a rogue and hope that he'd find more in time? He had to help her; he was a healer and that was his duty, inside and outside the pack. Instead he compromised and halved what he had and nosed the white-flowered stem to the female. It wouldn't be as powerful as a normal dosage, though at least it would be somewhat helpful. "This should ease the labour," he explained, then nosing a couple of poppy seed capsules. "And these should relieve the pain."
