Put 'em Up

Tip... toe... tip... toe. Váli made sure every step was soft and quiet, her fur barely brushing the leaves of the undergrowth. She made certain to stay downwind, but she had her target: Bass. A sly grin would cross her muzzle as she neared even closer. She could eel her blood boiling in her veins, the excitement making her eye sparkle as she paused twenty feet away, hopefully hiding in the thicket. She was facing Bass' left shoulder directly; if there was a circle, the way Bass and Váli were positioned would create 1/3 of the circle, with Bass at the 12 o'clock position and Váli at the 4 o'clock position.
It was then she set her defenses. Her ears pulled back, eyes narrowing. Her tail would flag behind her, even with her back, and she'd spread her legs evenly, her knees bending for balance and toes spreading as well. Her claws would dig in, as well. Her shoulders would roll forward, her chin also tucking. To complete the piece, her lips would peel back in a snarl and her hackles would rise.
She'd attempt to leap towards Bass head-on, her left shoulder jutting forward to try and nail him an inch directly above the armpit of his left shoulder, where the leg and chest split, to try to cause a decent amount of bruising in that muscle. At the same time, she would lean forward and try to sink her jaws in the meaty portion of Bass' left shoulder, her upper jaws seeking the skin near the back of his left shoulder, and her lower jaw aiming to sink in two and a half inches directly below that to try and grip. It was then she'd try to shift her weight onto her other three paws, spread evenly, by lifting her right front paw and trying to slam it down on the toes of Bass' left front leg in an attempt to bruise them badly. She was going to get him good, or she'd go down trying.
