Put 'em Up

Starling would blink in surprise as Quake stepped right up to him and asked his permission to spar. He couldn't help the fond smile to touch his lips before he quickly nodded. "I-I'm not very g-good at sparring e-either." He admitted in a hush. This was supposed to be a war, after all, not a chat. But he couldn't just let her go off and fight someone else. He remembered his first spar and he had really failed at it, quite badly actually, but he hadn't had much training before hand. So he quickly ducked his head down so that he could whisper to her quickly. "C-copy what I do, okay? D-did you ever p-play f-fight with y-your brother? This i-is just like that. I w-wont hurt you, and I c-can teach you how t-to heal up b-battle wounds after." He promised with a gentle grin, his blue eyes sparkling before he took a step back. He'd have to explain it all to her after, but there was no time now. His body quickly flowed into a defensive stance, his head lowering to protect his throat and his chin tucking for that added protection. Jaws parted and his eyes narrowed. His ears pulled back slowly, and he watched her, hoping she was following suite. The fur along his back began to rise along with his hackles, and his legs shifted into a shoulder wide stance. His knees bent and the elbows on his forelegs softened to allow him to sink closer to the ground. Tail tucked beneath him as he massaged his toes and claws into the earth. He watched her, waiting for her to copy his stance before he'd give her a subtle nod, allowing her the first move. His father may not be happy with him later on, this was a practice war after all, but he couldn't do that to her. Maybe his next fight would be a lot more serious... Starling v Quake Round 0 / 2?
